The Family Court
Shu Ya (Chris Tong), Guan Ying (San Yow), Xi Ping (Ping Hui Tay), Le Shan (Yuwu Qi) and Zhao Ning (Eelyn Kok) are lawyers from two different law firms but are in fact close friends. They meet frequently after work at Xi Ping's pub, able to keep work and personal life separate, they forged a strong friendship over time. Shu Ya and Xi Ping get closer after fighting in court over a divorce case, even though they are representing different parties. On the other hand, Le Shan and Zhao Ning fall out with each other after the latter misunderstands that Le Shan abandons his mother after his success. When Le Shan refuses to explain, Zhao Ning decides to help his mother charge the former for neglect and abandonment. Will Shu Ya and Xi Ping finally profess their love for each other? Will Zhao Ning finally learn the truth behind Le Shan's past? As they are faced with broken marriages everyday, will they have confidence where their own love life is concerned?

Shen Xiping, Huang Shuya, Lin Leshan, Zhao Ning and Huang Guanying work in two law firms and often gather for drinks after work. Shuya and Zhao Ning are representing a couple in a divorce case. Liling wants to divorce Zhiqiang and sue him for causing her to become paralysed due to a drunk-driving accident. Shuya performs well in court and wins the case. Xiping feels Judge Yao Xuehong is especially nice to Shuya because he likes her. Outside the family court, Leshan is beaten up by Li Hansheng. Hansheng's brother, Hanwen, fumes at his father, Li Shouye, for instigating Hansheng to hit Leshan. Shouye is unhappy with Leshan for representing Hanwen in the case against him. Xiping likes Shuya but does not show it. He makes it clear to Zhao Ning that marriage is not for him. He also knows Guanying likes Zhao Ning. Shuya and Guanying stay in a condominium unit. Leshan is their tenant. Guanying is curious about Leshan's background, but Leshan is unwilling to reveal more. Shouye wants the court to force Hanwen to provide for him, even though it is his extravagant lifestyle that is putting him in financial difficulty. Xuehong asks Shuya out and expresses an interest in dating her. Hanwen wants to prove to Hansheng that Shouye had used the money he received f rom them to hire prostitutes. While trailing Shouye, Leshan sees his mother, Aizhu, soliciting in the streets. Aizhu picks up Leshan's card and decides to threaten him with death if he refuses to acknowledge her. Shouye passes out after losing his case. Hansheng picks up Aizhu's knife and stabs Leshan.
