Zhou Wei Yun (Zoe Tay), Head of Variety, is thrilled when her boyfriend, Zhi Ming (Desmond Shen), leaves a message saying he can have lunch with her on Valentine's Day. Zhu Kang Li (Li Ping Chen) is the Senior VP of the Drama Unit. She is married to a plastic surgeon, Jian Guo (Liang Guo), and they have a son, Naonao (Alston Yeo). Reminding Jian Guo about Valentine's dinner, Kang Li orders the maid to return by 5pm to take care of Naonao. Fei Er (Jeanette Aw) is a junior artiste at the television station and her boyfriend, Jason (Yuwu Qi), is an ad director. She worries about his habit of changing his mind and annoying the producer. When given a role with more lines, she is pleased. Kang Li takes the bus with Naonao and sees Fei Er with Jason. Fei Er pretends not to see her when Naonao creates a din. In the make-up room, Fei Er is ignored by the staff. The popular Xie Liu Xin (Dawn Yeoh) turns up, and everyone fusses over her. Wei Yun, who is 42 years old, thinks Zhi Ming is about to propose to her.

Television Variety head Zhou Wei Yun and Drama Queen Zhu Kang Li are frenemies that vie to top the viewership charts. Newbie Zhao Fei Er receives a role with many lines for the first time, she is excited yet perplexed. Her boyfriend Jason gives her encouragement to settle her mixed feelings. 'Ah Jie' Xie Liu Xin gets injured in the course of filming. Zhu Kang Li changes the script which allows Fei Er more opportunities to perform.

As Liu Xin is hurt, Fei Er and other female artistes are called last minute to go on variety show "True Words". Every female artiste dolls herself up, except Fei Er who chooses to dress plainly, and even wears a pair of torn heels. The host Yu Fan incites that she is using underhand methods to attract attention. However, the audience believes that Fei Er did not lie to them.

Wei Yun heads to the hospital to visit Liu Xin and runs into Zhu Kang Li on the way. Du Zhan Peng, Senior VP of Artiste Management, is dissatisfied that Kang Li had disregarded artiste's welfare for the sake of meeting production schedule. Kang Li talks her way out of it and even puts in a few good words on behalf of Wei Yun to appease Zhan Peng. Later, Zhan Peng thanks the two television heads for helping to put up a good show with him to pacify Liu Xin.
