Varvara, a young practicing cardiologist at his uncle's clinic, is getting married to her colleague Rodion. But on the wedding day, something goes wrong. Guests are nervous - the bridegroom is late. Meanwhile at the other end of the city, Rodion rushes to the hospital in full swing. His mistress Karina in labor and with complications is sitting next to him.
