Episode 1
Pilot

After each faced heartbreak to a differing degree, his which in addition cost the family $10 million, their biggest score to date, Charlie and Emma meet for the first time by chance in a hotel bar, their sexual connection which each arguably sees as a one night stand as they are both on the rebound. Their time, as are many such encounters, is filled with kernels of truth, some half truths and total lies which both understand is the nature of the beast. That one night stand, or in reality thirty-six hour stand, is potentially revisited as they meet again, again by chance, in their "real" lives, at a high end by-invitation only cocktail party held by the Illumin8 Fellowship, which Charlie and Emma are both trying to take down from different angles. In meeting again, Charlie and Emma have to decide if there is any chance at all of a "second date" leading to more which for each will depend on how much each feels he/she can divulge to the other about their real lives. Charlie's may depend on if the Nicolettis will collectively hang up their con days, those thoughts as Leo is showing his age which may put their lives at risk if they continue.

A Sparkling Reputation

The Nicolettis loathe but have no choice but to do Daphne's bidding in the repayment of the $10 million they stole plus an extra $5 million for good measure "or else". Their first target in recouping the first installment of the repayment money is whoever purchases a specific necklace at auction. But they discover that the seller and the buyer of said necklace ends up being the same entity, which smacks of the necklace being laundered. With the Russians involved, nothing about trying to steal the necklace goes like clockwork, placing Charlie the most of the family members in grave danger. Concurrently, they believe to get the upper hand in their new unwanted relationship with Daphne, they have to find out more about her. In Charlie's sleuthing, he is unaware that Emma too is after Daphne. Emma receives an unexpected job offer, making her contemplate bringing someone else into her confidence about her true line of work. And in their continuing time together, Charlie and Emma each view their relationship differently from the other, which may make the one point of agreement about it, the sex, no longer tenable.
Episode 3
Against All Odds

The next con the Nicolettis embark upon is with Jones Malone, who grew up with Charlie and Birdie, and who the entire family has never really liked. This con, brought to them by Jones, is to fleece wealthy venture capitalist Martha Pope, who Jones, under an assumed name, has managed to make his fiancée in a matter of weeks as part of the con. The $1 million con, which would net the Nicolettis $200,000, is to sell Martha a racehorse, the catch being it not owned by them, which she would only discover after they've taken off with her money. After finding out more about Martha, the Nicolettis decide to change the con, the potential problem in that change being the unknown in dealing with matters of the heart. With Daphne, the Nicolettis try to find out more about her to get the upper hand in their relationship, one where they don't much like her seemingly intruding on them whenever she feels, but it may be an unwitting act by Ollie that nets them some important information. Emma, too, is trying to figure out Daphne's motives in not understanding her movements. Due to circumstances, Charlie feels the need for Emma to meet the family. And David will find that despite or because of the family political legacy, being a Hill does have its drawbacks which may factor into his current run for senate.
Episode 4
All In

With Emma meeting the Nicolettis having gone well, Charlie accepts an invitation from Emma for him to attend a Hill event where he will meet her family. That meeting doesn't go quite the way that Emma in particular envisions. That event for David's campaign shows him the literal face of an arrangement Joseph warns him against. A few what were secrets between Charlie and Emma necessarily come to light, Charlie in particular having to decide what it will mean for their relationship. And getting tired of Daphne's infringement on their lives, Charlie negotiates a one-time only $10 million payment with her to end their arrangement for good rather than what have been up to this point the relatively minuscule individual payments. Daphne's agreement is due to Connor's arrival into town. That money Charlie foresees as coming from a con he and Birdie had previously decided was too dangerous for them on which to embark in seeing no route of escape. It is a robbery on private yacht in international waters, the yacht on which a high stakes poker game run by Robert Renway will be held. Beyond coming to workable solutions to the problem areas of the plan, Birdie is concerned that they have to put up all the money they have from their previous scam for this scam to work.
Episode 5
The Spy Who Loved Me

In the battle with Connor, Daphne enlists the Nicolettis' help in a proposal they can't refuse. The target she is after is DC political fixer John Baylor who has a proverbial black book which contains the information of his fixes, that information he uses to blackmail his clients. Charlie specifically is torn in two directions as he feels the need concurrently to dispose of the vehicle he used when he initially believed Emma had spotted him during the time he was apprehended by Connor, disposing of that vehicle which turns out not to be as easy as he had hoped. Both these issues affect Charlie's relationship with Emma in ways he didn't anticipate. Meanwhile, Jennifer West becomes ensconced within David's campaign team, which doesn't sit well with his father.
Episode 6
The Real Thing

With their respective secrets disclosed to the other, Charlie and Emma have to decide how that information factors into their personal relationship as well as their professional dealings. For Emma, it may depend on exactly what Daphne has been able to glean about her and/or the Hills in general in the black book that she asked the Nicolettis to steal for her. All Charlie knows is that the Nicolettis cannot sever ties with Daphne. The next item she requests from them is to steal a piece of art from Russian oligarch Grigori Abramov, the reason for her wanting it which they do not know but the job which is worth $3 million in their repayment. Charlie knows that the most expedient "in" to Abramov is Simon Norris, Birdie's ex who she has not seen in ten years, and whose calls over the last two years she has not answered or returned. Birdie has to decide not only if she will contact Simon to assist in this matter, but how much she will let him back into her life, which not only affects her but their daughter, Ollie, who is becoming increasingly curious about what is in the locked basement of the bar.

Company Man

Charlie is initially confused when Daphne asks him to return the painting they just stole to Brad Willford. He begins to understand when he grasps that what she really wants is an "in" to Pine Grove, an ultra-exclusive defense industry conference that sets the national security agenda behind closed doors. Emma sees this request by Daphne as Charlie's first assignment working as her asset. Daphne discovers Charlie's usefulness in this endeavor beyond his ability to get them into the conference, which Daphne will be unaware was with Emma pulling a few strings. Emma may have a professional issue in running into Vikram as she stays out of sight of the conference attendees, he who is handling security at the conference. She may also have a personal issue in her electronic monitoring of Charlie and by association Daphne whenever she is in his presence. Meanwhile, as Simon suggests, Birdie asks her father for the story behind Simon's unannounced departure ten years ago. What Leo tells her will impact what she decides to do regarding letting Simon back into her and Ollie's lives as he seems to want.

The Art of the Steel

With Charlie preoccupied on another matter, Birdie is tasked with assisting Emma on the latest mission, namely to get Patrick Maguire out of prison so that the Maguires can reconvene as a family only for Emma taking them all down in one fell swoop, which would also get the Maguires out of the Nicolettis lives for good. Emma and Birdie have the concentrated time together either to have it out and/or clear the air concerning their less than likely or wanted professional association. Charlie's time is spent with a matter concerning Leo, who has reached an epiphany in one of his friend's having just passed. That epiphany leads to Leo going rogue on the family, and thus by association Emma, in conducting a con on his own, which could be negatively affected by his declining mental acuity. Meanwhile, David, upon learning about his father's past affair with Claire Fox, believes he has to confront Jennifer in not wanting to fall into the same trap as his father, especially as he and Jennifer have embarked on a romantic relationship.

The Truth Shall Set You Free

The Nicolettis are caught between a rock and a hard place in their commitments respectively to Emma and Daphne. Daphne has an upcoming meeting with Brad Willford, the meeting with the, to him, unknown person which Patrick wants to attend, which also means that Connor wants to attend. If that be the case, Daphne wants neither to be there in she knowing that her father and brother knowing Willford's identity means her usefulness to them will come to an end. Conversely without telling him the reason, Emma informs Charlie that she needs additional proof of what is discussed at a meeting between Willford, Daphne, Patrick and Connor to be able to take them all down in one fell swoop, meaning that she wants Charlie to go into the meeting wired to be able to record the conversation. The Nicolettis have to figure out how they can accomplish these two seemingly incompatible tasks. Meanwhile, David is preparing for a debate with the election only weeks away. His team gets word that his opponent, Landry, has dirt on David of an unspecified nature that he will spring on them "unexpectedly" during the debate. Believing it having to do with David's legacy i.e. Joseph, Grace decides to take matters into her own hands to protect their family name and political legacy. And Fran receives a visit from Frankie Musso, her fiancé prior to meeting Leo. A fixture in the neighborhood, Frankie tells the Nicolettis about long time businesses selling their properties for hefty sums, which makes Fran and Leo contemplate their future if given the right offer. Charlie and Birdie, however, wonder if Frankie is solely the messenger as he makes himself out to be, or is truly the initiator of the message.
Episode 10
The Truth Hurts

Emma and Daphne have already vowed to work together to take down the Maguires in Daphne understanding that she has no place in the family in either Patrick or Connor's vision. But when the bomb goes off in Emma's car following David's surprise pronouncement during the debate regarding his political career, Charlie joins their team in finishing his task in getting the Maguires off the Nicolettis' back, while Emma, under a new structure in her division at the CIA, knows that she no longer has the support of the organization in they viewing Patrick as a more valuable asset than her, she realizing under the situation that Charlie can provide invaluable assistance, if only just as a cover as "former boyfriend". The problem Charlie, Emma and Daphne face is that they don't know who else they can trust and thus enlist if they require any additional help. Within these parameters, Charlie believes the best approach is to show Patrick what he least expects, which is the truth. Charlie also believes that this "con" may also provide some cover for Leo and Fran, who are thinking of selling the bar to Frankie's investors. The unknowns are if Patrick and/or Frankie have plans of their own which may be incompatible with what Charlie, Emma and Daphne are planning on doing.
