When recently widowed stonemason (tombstones etc.) Andrew is killed in a subway station by a train, it's up to the detectives Max and Priya to investigate if it was suicide, accident or murder. Fortunately, there are CCTV cameras catching the fall in the station and one outside showing Andrew stumbling like a drunk into a young man. Someone's been writing bible quotes on Andrew's mirror at home the last few weeks - the last being: The wages of sin is death.

Steve also has a menial job at the plant center and nursery run by the firm's ex-con owner Ricky Hopkinson's wife Diane, just like ex-con homeless junkie Taffy Clarke. Yet Max finds more links to a years old hooliganism tragedy.
