Episode 1
Mary's father didn't read the fine print when he filled out his life insurance policy and now that he's died, she's unable to claim the money from that policy.
Episode 2
Aging playwright Eugene Calder dies of a seizure but has a £50,000 payout. Hunter investigates to see whether it was accident or murder. Calder had a much younger wife but was cheating on her with a married woman.
Episode 3
A fire on the eve of Madame Orlette's fashion show raises suspicion when all the dresses are destroyed. Walter Allen discovers Orlett'es model Mona is demand but she is married to a suspicious character called "The Weasel".
Episode 4
A gang broke into the home of Lester Price stealing his wife's jewelry. Hunter is asked to investigate. The following day, burglar Jake Fry is found dead and Price's jewelry found in his home which makes Hunter very suspicious.
Episode 5
When penniless Henry McCoy dies of heart attack his lawyer Mr Hardy discovers he was once rich and left a £50,000 life insurance to his son David. When a David McCoy contacts Hardy they plan to get the cash before the real son shows.
Episode 6
George Connel has suffered three heart attacks and his doctor doesn't believe he'll survive another one. He has no money but wants to leave he relatives some cash. So he ropes in a fellow conman Tim for one last confidence trick.
Episode 7
Laura Desmond is concerned about her twin sister Jane who vanished after a date. Eastern Insurance will have to pay out big after her murdered body is pulled out of the river. Hunter and Allen need to make sure it's the right sister.
Episode 8
Benjamin Clarke buys a crate of books for £100 and finds a 1st edition Gutenberg Bible worth a £20,000. During a family holiday the bible stolen. The insurance is paid but Clarke's family have taken over his affairs, selling all his books.
Episode 9
Journalist Cooke wrote an article about Tyler and Martin Investments. He claims that the pair had made money by selling out rich clients to the Nazis and keeping cash rewards. Eastern Insurance need prove the story is not libelous.
Episode 10
Dr Ben Ulrich fails depart a boat when it docked at London. Ulrich was a major witness in Countess Eva Varga's libel suit against a major motion picture company. The film portrayed Eva's mother having murdered her but is it true?
Episode 11
Gloria Demerest wants to declare her father dead after he has been missing for seven years. Her mother Eva, is against the action, however, her brother-in-law believes Gloria might just motivated by by the large amount of money due her.
Episode 12
A pyromaniac is on the loose in London, destroying two warehouses and a deserted house. Eastern Insurance have paid out but want the fires stopped. Sammy Peters is arrested but John Hunter thinks that money is the root cause.
