Successful private investigator Alice Vaughan is presently looking for someone who's been stealing money from her clients with information he got from them, so she sets a trap but the man gets away. She then goes home to her boyfriend Christopher, not knowing that he's the one she seeks. When his associates tell him that it's time to cut ties with Alice, he won't. He asks her to run away with him but she's hesitant. When she comes home she finds him gone and his office cleaned out; she then realizes what he is and she's determined to find him because she gave him all her money. Later an FBI agent shows up looking for Christopher but she says nothing. Christopher and his associates are planning their next job and she's on to them.

The Real Killer

Alice is preoccupied with trying to find Ben, and he gives her a present which she wonders if he stole. She then must prove that a man who was acquitted of murder but not really cleared is innocent by trying to find the real killer, but she thinks he did it. Ben's associates wants him to leave the country because they fear his preoccupation with Alice might endanger them, but his departure is postponed when a man who's been pursuing them arrives in town, so they decide to make their move on a new mark: an Arab princess.

The Trial

Alice gets a lead on Ben but the arrival of Valerie's estranged husband, puts that on hold. It seems like he wants to hire them; his sister who has MS took part in a pharmaceutical company's trial for a new treatment and she's not improving. So he wants them to prove maleficence on the company's part. So Alice goes as a new patient. In the meantime Ben's working on the Princess but her guardian is suspicious of him and intends to find out what he is hiding. Ben decides to get rid of him by exposing his secrets to the Princess, which only makes him more determined to find out about him.

Episode 4

The Princess and the I.P.

Alice tells Dao what she found out about Christopher and they agree to work together. A military contractor hires them to find to locate one of their designers, who vanished along with the specs to a new type of surveillance system. They track the designer's car and find a body that could be hers. They track the laptop the specs are on, and when they try to leave, someone crashes into them and tries to take the laptop and they're surprised to see who it is. Alice goes to Christopher's mark and sees him and they agree to meet.

The Larágan Gambit

Ben calls Alice to meet but asks her not to tell Dao, but when he gets there he sees Dao and leaves. The husband of one of their clients who's the City Attorney goes to see them; he found out that his wife is seeing another man, He wants them to find out what's going on. They learn she is seeing a man but not having an affair. They try to find out what's going on. When Ben and Margot can't come up with the money to pay Felicity, they decide to bolt, but she stops them and offers them a proposal: steal something. Problem is that there are others who want it too and are willing to kill to get it. Val learns what Alice has been doing.

The Benefactor

The man whom Ben and Margot owe arrives for the bracelet he asked them to get to get the bracelet; unfortunately, Alice has it. Ben calls her, saying that he needs it and she's in danger as long as she has it. A female Army captain goes to AVP because she's about to become the first woman to join the Rangers--and getting harassed to turn it down. Ben goes to get the bracelet from Alice when the people who are also after the bracelet show up and take it. Ben tells his benefactor about the theft and they try to retrieve it but they turned it over to their employer. Dao tells Alice and Val about the bracelet and asks for their help. Ben turns to Alice to help retrieve the bracelet. Margot tells Ben to be wary of their benefactor: he might have something else in mind.

The Ringer

AVI takes on a case involving a missing child whose parents are embroiled in a bitter divorce. Against their better judgment, Ben convinces Margot and Reggie to work a con for their benefactor, and Alice leads Dao into investigating Ben from a different angle.

Ben agrees to help Rhys with one of their biggest cons to date: to break Leah Wells out of FBI custody. Meanwhile, Sophie asks Alice and the AVI team to help a friend get out of a very bad contract; in doing so, they learn that Sophie has a few more tricks up her sleeve.
