Simon travels through Belize where he meets marine conservationists, explores the ecosystem of the reef and meets a manatee orphan. He then heads into the jungle to the Chiquibul forest and meets armed rangers protecting the birds from poachers and farmers clearing the land illegally. Next he explores Guatemala, where he looks at how growing corn in the highlands is being affected by low rainfall (climate change) and resulting in food shortages and mass migration. In El Salvador he meets a police unit trying to combat gang violence and the cocaine trade and a group of volunteer paramedics Finally in he explores the biodiversity in relatively stable Costa Rica and meets school children being taught to plant trees.
