Episode 1

Teams must decipher a Morse code message in St. John's pointing them to a destination in British Columbia. One team takes a penalty rather than spend time on the task. Once on the west coast teams find a clue at the Capilano Suspension Bridge that takes them into downtown Vancouver where one team member must navigate a high wire to get their next clue, which is either "Paddle or Pedal." Paddle is a challenge of navigating a long boat through a course in False Bay, while pedal is bicycle polo. Finishing these tasks teams race to the Van Duesen Gardens to the pit stop, where the team that took the penalty must wait two hours to check in.
Episode 2

The nine remaining teams travel from Vancouver to Fort McMurray, Alberta. At an Adventure Park one team member must climb, rappel, ride a zip line and cross wooden planks to search for three clues. Hidden in the maze are also three Express Passes. Next teams must choose between "Pump It" or "Pull It." Pump It means the team must drag a heavy pump to a pond, correctly hook up hoses and put out a fire, overseen by local firemen who battled the previous year's fires in the area. Pull It is a skeet shooting challenge. Following the completion of these tasks teams go to a helicopter field and use algebra to figure out the weight of fuel a helicopter can take and maintain stability. From there they take a 'copter ride to McDonald Island Park, and search the golf course for the pit stop.
Episode 3

Remaining teams all fly together from Ft. McMurray to Castlegar, BC where they pick up a Chevy Bolt EV car in which to travel to the challenges. The team whose car registers the most efficient driving will win a prize. At Zuckerberg Island teams must look over a camp site, then race around to eighteen other camp sites and record what differences each one has from the original. Next teams drive to Nelson and deliver coffee up and down the hilly streets before hitting a road block where one member must swing off a bridge and land in a river to retrieve the next clue. Lastly the detour asks teams to Strike It or Throw it. One challenge is to forge hooks, the other to create pottery cups. Teams then race to Kokanee Creek Provincial Park and the pit stop, where one team's use of an express pass pays off, but another team's does not.
Episode 4

Remaining teams leave Nelson, B.C. and race to a travel agency in Vancouver, where packets for travel to The Great Wall of China await them. Arriving in Beijing they motor to the wall at which they are tasked with giving a short tour guide speech in English, French and Mandarin. Then it's off to the Canadian Embassy in Beijing where interrupting a ball hockey game earns then a clue with a detour: "In Sync," or "In Line." Teams must either perform a synchronized dive or a Chinese version of a line dance. Afterwards a Road Block has one member filling a prescription written in Chinese characters at a pharmacy where hundreds of drawers contain ingredients they need to measure out exactly. Then it's on to the Drum Tower where Jon awaits.

Finding Jon in Beijing teams are told to "keep racing," and head to Shanghai via high speed rail, picking up their next clue at the train station . One team looses the clue and tickets and must retrace their steps searching. At the Tocks Deli in Shanghai teams must repeat the Mandarin phrase they learned at the Great Wall to receive a clue, which then directs them to Bangkok, Thailand. At the Caturday Cat Cafe teams receive route info and notice about a Fast Forward. Three teams decide to go for the fast forward, which is earned by making a goal in a Thai game called Takraw. Other teams race by boat to The Artist House where they must perform a silent puppet show to advance. Success brings them a Detour" "Bling It," or "Shred It." Bling It is a challenge in which teams must decorate a local pedicab by duplicating a sample with items purchased at local markets; Shred It involves surfing up an incline at a local flow house and grabbing a flag. Then it's on to the pit stop at Wat Thewarat Kunchorn Worawhan Temple.
Episode 6

After long flights from Asia, teams race to receive their clue from the Mayor of Ottawa at The Cauldron. They are warned that a double U-turn looms. Using Equinox technology teams must park five cars to spell out one of the letters in the word "Canada." At the road block at the RCMP Stables one member has to groom and correctly saddle a horse, then ride it between two Mounties. The detour is "Tiptoe Through the Tulips" or "Get The Picture." In the tulip choice teams must construct a garden cart then correctly fill baskets with colored tulips. In Picture, teams go to an archive containing over 17,000 paintings and must find 20 to put together an album. Next teams drive to ByWard Market where they find the Double U-Turn. Not every team that has the opportunity takes it, but two teams are U-turned. Last challenge is a visit to the Canadian Museum of History where teams peruse the halls before taking a 20-question Canadian citizenship test. When both teams pass, they can race to the pit stop at the museum.

From Ottawa teams travel to western Newfoundland to get a video clue at the Corner Brook Bank of Montreal bank. The clue directs them to the Discovery Center at Gros Morne National Park where one team faces an archery Speed Bump while the rest of the pack chooses between "Find A Dory" (row a dory along the shore to find a clue) or "Family Story" (listen to, then reconstruct the family tree of Norse gods.) A Face Off looms at a local bowling alley, then a Road Block comes in which one member must perform a stand up comedy routine before teams can continue to the pit stop at Captain Cook Outlook where the field of teams shrinks.
Episode 8

Teams travel to Panama City and search for the White Wolf display at the Biomuseo. A clue sends them to the Paseo Esteban Huertas Cascoviejo at the city's seawall where a road block awaits. One member must memorize a mola design (colorful traditional clothing), then find a match among hundreds of women walking nearby. Next comes a detour: "Up for a Drink," or "Down for the Count." Teams either drink samples of local beers and match the flavorings or learn a series of boxing moves to advance to a sports complex where they must learn a drum major routine to lead a marching band before racing to a local "Panama" sign and the pit stop.
Episode 9

Leaving Panama, all teams fly to Saskatchewan where they must squeeze enough oranges to fill pitchers, then serve children at an elementary school. Next they race to Aulie Farms in Rouleau, SK, where a team faces a speed bump that requires them to muck out a horse's stall before advancing to the detour of Cart or Horse. Cart asks teams to move a large conveyor machine into place and shovel 1,000 pounds of canola into a container. Horse involves teams becoming auctioneers to sell a horse. From there teams go to the Dog River Hotel and the Double U-Turn. Next they drive to Moose Jaw and must build a replica of the Canadian maple leaf out of soup cans. Lastly teams hit a road block at Grandpa's Garden in which one member must search bee hives for the queen; then they can race to the pit stop at 15 Wing Moose Jaw, home of a Royal Canadian Air squadron.

The fifth season of The Amazing Race Canada is a reality game show based on the American series The Amazing Race. It features teams of two, each with a pre-existing relationship. The grand prize includes: a CA$250,000 cash payout, a "once-in-a-lifetime" trip for two around the world, and a 2018 Chevrolet Equinox "True North Edition" for each. For the fifth year in a row, Jon Montgomery returns as the host.

The Amazing Race Canada is a reality television competition series that features teams in a grueling race across Canada and the world. The Race is divided into a series of legs; on each leg teams strive to reach the Pit Stop where they are greeted by the host, Jon Montgomery. During each leg teams receive destination clues and challenges to complete in order to move onto the next task. The first team to cross the finish line wins a combined total of $500,000 in both cash and prizes. This prize is the largest grand prize ever awarded for a Canadian competition series.
