Later that evening, a package holding Rick's catcher's mitt mysteriously reappears under the Christmas tree.

Then Ozzie is handed David's notebook that was left at a neighbors that has a list of possible gifts that would be conceivable for giving a date. He tells Harriet that he will plant a suggestion with Ricky to transmit to David that what would really be appropriate is a corsage. Unknown to both Ozzie and Harriet, the boys had actually been discussing Valentine's presents for their parents. David takes Ricky's message at face value. They buy a nice box of chocolates for their mother and a corsage for their father. The parents are surprised to learn of their misunderstanding and manage to accept the presents with gratitude. Ozzie declares that he wanted a corsage so that he could present it to Harriet.
