Power Surge Part 1

Despatched on various missions around the world, The 99 discover that sudden power surges from their Noor stones are disabling their superpowers, putting them in danger of their lives. But what is causing the ancient stones to malfunction? Deep beneath the Seville headquarters, Dr. Ramzi embarks on a dangerous mission to find the answer.

Power Surge Part 2

As The 99 confront increasing jeopardy on their missions, Ramzi unearth a secret chamber amongst the ruins of the Husn Al Marifa, the Fortress of Knowledge beneath the Seville mansion. An ancient and timeless survivor of the Fortress, the Guardian, unlocks hidden mysteries of the Noor stones for Ramzi. With these new insights, Ramzi corrects the stones' malfunctions, but as one crisis ends, new dangers begin. In the frozen wasteland of the Himalayas, the 99's most feared enemy is reborn.

Triad vs. Triplets

Dr. Ramzi becomes aware of an unusual trio of youngsters with superhuman powers, painting graffiti on walls in their native London streets. Noora, Cat and Hadya investigate. Unknown to them, the streetwise triplets' powers come not from a Noor stone but from a far more sinister source. At the same time Sphinx is planning a daring heist at the British Museum, aided by a team that includes Hammerforce, Savage and Razors Edge. The 99 attempt to thwart Sphinx's plan, but the super-villains are rescued from the skies by an unexpected ally.

Episode 30

Abduction

Aboard the supersonic VTOL jet, Sphinx and her hapless team overcome the shock of discovering that their rescuer is a rejuvenated Rughal. Rughal's price for rescuing the villains is their continued help in his relentless pursuit of the Noor stones. Unknown to Rughal, the London triplets (Dave, Dee and Posy) are also aboard the VTOL, and pitch to be part of Rughal's team. The first mission for Rughal's newly reformed gang is to attack Batina's refuge in the Himalayas. Following a fierce battle with The 99, Rughal succeeds in abducting three of Batina's protégés - success which is owed to the extraordinary powers of the triplets.

Misdirection

With three Noor stone-bearers safely in his custody at the newly constructed Ice Palace, Rughal arranges a wild goose-chase to misdirect the inevitable rescue mission from The 99. He draws Ramzi's teams to various parts of the world, with holograms of the abducted youngsters, only for his thugs to ambush The 99. In the meantime, at the Ice Palace, Rughal begins his evil master-plan. He absorbs the power of the three Noor stones now in his possession, leaving their owners as empty shells, suspended in icy crystal.

Possession

Keen to develop his team's proficiency with the Noor stones, Ramzi arranges for a group of the 99 to train at an extended retreat in his Seville town house. Rughal, strengthened by his absorption of three Noor stone powers, plans an attack, hoping to acquire multiple Noor stones in one fell swoop. He can now transform into smoke form, like a supercharged Blackwolf, and enter the Noor stones themselves. Rughal attacks the Seville town house, thinking himself invincible, only to discover that as he has grown in power, so have the 99.

The Gathering Storm

As Rughal sets off from the Ice Palace on a private mission to recruit an old ally, Fattah tries to perfect his powers of transporting the 99 without having to accompany them through his portals. Rughal tracks down Murk to a remote island in the Bay of Bengal, and tempts him back by promising to recreate, from DNA, Murk's long-lost love, Yelena. In the meantime, Mumita, Hadya and Raqib discover the Ice Palace and the three Noor stone-bearers in suspended animation. Trapped by Sphinx and her cohorts, their only hope of escape is Fattah - but will his new remote portalling actually work?

Where There's Smoke

A daring mission in the Kuwaiti oil fields puts Jaleel's powers to the test, showing him he must pay heed to his mentor Nawaf. Rughal dispatches Hammerforce and Savage to the Chang Corporation in Hong Kong to steal the latest satellite equipment, whilst Dave, Dee and Posy return to London, leading Rughal to their handler, Mindo. He in turn reveals he is working for a more powerful master - Blackwolf. With Murk's help, Rughal compels Blackwolf to rejoin his supervillain team. In Hong Kong, the 99 thwart the heist at the Chang Corporation, only to discover that it was a diversion.

Mukhit the Nourisher

Helping a stranded Orca whale on a Bahraini beach enables young Salman to discover his powers as Mukhit the Nourisher, but he is shocked by his father's anger. Unknown to Salman, his father, Dr. Khamis, an eminent oceanographer and friend of Dr. Ramzi, guards a dark family secret. When Ramzi suspects that a boat-wreck in the Persian Gulf might contain a large number of Noor stones, he commissions Khamis to use his submarine to dive to the wreck. Jabbar, Rafie, Fattah and Salman join the dive, but are confronted underwater by a fearsome enemy - the Amalgam, a terrifying combination of Rughal, Murk and Blackwolf, their smoke forms fused into one awesome, deadly form.

Hafiz the Preserver

In a remote Brazilian village, Dr. Ramzi comes across young Carlos whose astounding powers with plants mark him out to be Hafiz the Preserver. An experiment with ancient, dormant seeds leads to havoc as Hafiz revives a prehistoric species of killer plants. Only the combined triad power of Jami, Mukhit and Jaleel averts disaster for Hafiz's village, but Hafiz has a shocking revelation for Dr. Ramzi. At the same time, in the Ice Palace, Mindo is working on a process to enable an amorphous Rughal to travel the virtual world through fibre optic and power cables. It's during one of these experiments that Mindo makes an astounding discovery about Rughal.

Soft Spot

A lonely and deserted late night café in Damascus is the scene for the return of Dr. Auric Blondel, the Pathologist, one of the most ruthless villains in The 99. He's leading a life of petty crime, until he comes across a young girl, Zahra. Inexplicably, the Pathologist finds himself feeling mercy for his hapless victims because, unknown to him, Zahra is in fact a Noor stone-bearer: Raheema The Merciful. The 99 and Rughal's team both race to recruit Zahra, only to find that she now has an unexpected protector in the Pathologist.

Power Play

The world is shocked to see news reports showing Cat, Hadya and Darr sabotaging a Nuclear Power Station in southern Spain. A warrant is issued for their arrest. At the Ice Palace, Rughal is delighted that an ambitious new experiment has come to fruition in Mindo's laboratory. As Cat, Hadya and Darr narrowly evade arrest in Seville, they find themselves in a battle to save the local Solar Power Station - which has come under attack from their own clones! But there's something about the clones Mindo has created that neither he, Rughal, nor the 99, could possibly anticipate.

Episode 39

The Sting

In his cyber form, Rughal penetrates the 99's computer systems, only to find that Miklos' firewalls are too effective. From Rome, a new stone-bearer, Rosina, tells Dr. Ramzi that she has her late father's computer flash drive marked "Husn Al Marifa". The 99 travel to recruit Rosina, but find themselves thwarted by Rughal's villains. Fattah manages to retrieve the flash drive, bringing it safely back to Seville where Ramzi compels Miklos to forego usual virus-checks in order to open the encrypted drive. The flash drive releases a worm into the Seville computer system, destroying all Miklos' firewalls and giving cyber Rughal free access to the heart of the 99 mainframe. Nothing can stop Rughal now - until help emerges from a very unexpected quarter.

Malware

Alex is convinced he's seen Blair Davis inside his computer screen, but both his dad (Higgins) and Ramzi dismiss this as residual grief. Undeterred, Alex persuades Miklos to create a 'digi-clone' of him, an avatar to search for Blair in the virtual world. Rughal too is desperate to discover what prevented him from penetrating the Seville mainframe computer. Exploring the astounding cyber-world, Alex finds a digital Blair, who explains how he survived Blackwolf's deadly attack in Hong Kong. In the meantime, Rughal is also travelling the virtual pathways and has accessed the computers at Danford Industries. There, he's trapped Dana, Ashok and Weller in a lift which is hurtling down the shaft, to certain death. Can Alex in the virtual world help his friends in the real world?

Episode 41

Destiny

Rughal lays a trap in Seville and successfully kidnaps Fadi and Haroun, while Mindo creates a deadly computer virus to hunt down Blair in the cyber-world. A beleaguered Ramzi evacuates some of the younger 99 to Batina's refuge, but Alex refuses to go, insisting on helping the endangered virtual Blair. With Alex, Miklos, Amira and Higgins alone in Seville, Rughal attacks the 99 HQ, using his smoke form to overwhelm his victims. Miklos manages to download Blair into a secure flash drive, and with Higgins' help, Blair transfers into various electronic devices to fight Rughal. But Rughal is too powerful, and when he has Higgins and Blair in his grasp, he compels Alex to join him. But Alex has one final card to play.

Episode 42

A Question of Trust

Using the power of the Raqib Noor stone now in his possession, Rughal develops a machine that can locate Noor stones around the world. In Seville, Miklos creates a robot into which to download Blair, but Blair feels trapped and wants to return to the cyber world. Aleem has disturbing visions in which he sees himself being ostracised by the 99, and Rughal acquiring a new Noor stone in Kuwait City. Aleem and Fattah set off on a rescue mission, while Ramzi seeks out the Guardian to help Blair. In Kuwait City, Jassim and Qmasha, whose Noor stone makes them the Creative Twins, are under attack from Rughal's gang. Aleem and Fattah are no match for Rughal, and are barely saved in a last-minute rescue by Blair. As the Creative Twins join the 99 in Seville, Alex notices that something is not quite right with his friend Aleem.

Episode 43

Power Failure

Power cuts all over the world make the 99 suspicious that Rughal has embarked on a new masterplan to steal energy. As havoc is unleashed around the globe, Rughal puts his demand to world leaders. If they meet his price, he will turn the power back on. Even the 99 can't help, until Miklos remembers an electricity-generating experiment with underground power-plants that was moth-balled decades ago. As Miklos desperately tries to reactivate one of these power stations near Seville, Blackwolf and his team try to thwart the 99's efforts. Miklos fails, and, dejected, he casts aside his Noor stone. Only Alex can persuade his friend to have one last try and Miklos discovers an error in his previous calculations. As the power stations come to life, restoring energy to the world, there's only one explanation for why Miklos had got things wrong - sabotage. There's a spy amidst the 99.

Identity Crisis

As energy supplies surge back to the world, an unperturbed Rughal tells his team his masterplan is still on track, and he needs only a little more power for his goal. He dispatches a team to hijack a windfarm in California. Meanwhile, the 99 are devastated to learn there is a spy amongst them, and are further disheartened when they fail to defend the California windfarm. The turmoil causes some of the younger 99 to return to their families, while Rughal personally tries to persuade Cat to join him at the Ice Palace. Exploring the virtual world in avatar form, Miklos encounters Mindo, also an avatar, who tempts Miklos to switch sides. Ramzi is racked with self-doubt, as Rughal succeeds in securing a major defection from the 99.

Episode 45

The Rift

Ramzi gives bad news to the 99 - Cat has defected to Rughal. She must have been his spy. Deeply shaken, the 99 regroup and plan their next move. Alex stumbles upon Naser using his communicator to talk with Rughal. Naser says Rughal is trying to recruit him, and he's playing along, an explanation which convinces Ramzi, but not Alex. Naser pushes Alex down a gully in the ruins near the mansion, disguising it as an accident, but Higgins manages to save his son, and sends Alex to Batina's refuge for his own good. Once there, Alex absconds, and embarks on a daring plan to infiltrate Rughal's HQ. Inside the Ice Palace. Alex discovers the real Naser, trapped in suspended animation. So who is the 'Naser' in Seville? As Alex sends a photo-message to his dad, he is caught by Rughal's new lieutenant, Cat. In Seville, Alex's message is intercepted by 'Naser'. Alex too is now cast into suspended animation.

Episode 46

Revelation

As Batina discovers that Alex is missing from her refuge, a desperate Higgins persuades Ramzi to send the 99 to rescue the youngsters trapped in the Ice Palace. Higgins has developed a new device to disable Rughal's security systems, but cannot go himself since his leg is injured. Jabbar, Darr and Fattah penetrate the Ice Palace, only to be trapped by Rughal's gang, including Cat. On his computer, Higgins discovers the photo-message which Alex had sent, and which Naser had tried to delete. Naser is Rughal's spy, and we learn how Rughal switched the real Naser for this clone. Aware that he has been exposed, the clone Naser escapes from Seville. Higgins knows he must act. With Blair's reluctant help, Higgins creates a machine to inject a massive surge of power into his own body. Red Shroud is back.

Episode 47

Coldhearted

Red Shroud steals Zoran's Dakota and flies to the Ice Palace. Ramzi realises that Blair knew Higgins' plan, but no-one could stop him. In the chamber beneath the Ice Palace, Alex begins to stir out of his suspended animation. Freeing himself, he manages to release the other young stone-bearers, and the group go in search of their Noor stones, only to find themselves trapped by the ever-vigilant Cat. In Seville, Blair asks Miklos to help him with a secret plan. As Red Shroud approaches the Ice Palace, his presence is detected by Blackwolf, and the two enemies engage in a fearsome battle. Red Shroud succeeds in penetrating the Ice Palace, to discover the young 99 cornered. Fighting off Rughal's supervillains one by one, Red Shroud mounts an heroic rescue, enabling the children to escape, but he himself is overwhelmed. Reluctantly, Alex leads the children back to Batina's refuge, but his thoughts are with his dad. In the virtual world, a new form is speeding though the cyber highways. It is Blair, and he knows his destination.

Episode 48

Love and Loss

Miklos and Fattah mount an operation to retrieve Zoran's Dakota from the Ice Palace, where it was abandoned by Red Shroud. They narrowly escape the clutches of Blackwolf and Murk in a mid-air battle. Rughal finally decides to keep his promise to Murk, and presents him with the clone of Yelena, Murk's long-lost and beloved wife. But the clone Yelena has no memories of her marriage to Murk, and is repelled by his monstrous smoke form. Murk reluctantly accepts that he cannot recreate his wife, and helps the clone Yelena escape the Ice Palace. She make her way to safety in Batina's refuge. Totally broken, Murk gives himself over completely to Rughal's service. In the meantime, in the cyber world, Blair learns that the young 99 are no longer at the Ice Palace and that Red Shroud is dead. Blair changes course and visits Alex at Batina's Refuge, appearing to him in his new digital form.

Tables Turned

A young Chinese girl, Kam, walks into the Chang Building. She has a Noor Stone, and is Kabeera The Great. She wants Mr. Chang to help her join the 99. The guard on reception makes a call, but to the man who really pays him - Rughal. Kabeera's stone could be the ninth Noor stone Rughal needs for his masterplan, to complete the triad of triads. He dispatches Sphinx and Cat to Hong Kong to secure Kabeera's stone. But Kabeera is actually bait in an elaborate trap set by the 99. The bitter rivals now have to forget their antipathy and help each other. They return empty-handed to Rughal, who is strangely unperturbed. Kabeera's stone is not the only one which could complete the set of nine. Feigning friendship, Sphinx snatches Cat's stone from her, and hands it over to Rughal. With Rughal ready to embark on his masterplan, Cat is ejected into the icy wasteland outside the Palace.

Episode 50

Stray Cat

Alone and rejected in the icy Himalayan wilderness, Cat survives being mugged by a truck-driver, and escapes by stealing his truck. As she drives across the frozen wasteland, she recalls episodes from her past: how she was recruited to the 99; her phobia about rats and how she overcame it with help from the hospital worker Rabiah; how Rughal tempted her to join him. Eventually, Cat returns to Rabiah in Cairo. In Seville, two new stone bearers arrive - Ivana, from Russia and Heinz, from Germany. Ramzi asks Nawaf and Dana to tell them all about the 99's conflicts with Rughal, testing if this will deter the youngsters. With Rabiah's encouragement, Cat returns to Seville, but only to warn Ramzi that Rughal now has the nine Noor stones he needs for a triad of triads. Ramzi knows there isn't a lunar eclipse for another two years, so he's not worried. That's when Cat reveals that Mindo has found a way to create an artificial lunar eclipse.

Dark Moon Rising Part 1

Shocked that Rughal could create an artificial lunar eclipse, Ramzi seeks help from the Guardian. At the Ice Palace, Rughal is making final preparations for the full moon due the next night: Operation Eclipse is on track. Rughal also has Red Shroud trapped in suspended animation, and is using his electrical power to create a forcefield around the Ice Palace. The 99 cannot portal in, until, as a departing act of friendship, Cat tells them of a secret passage into the Ice Palace. Jabbar, Noora and Darr are dispatched to the Ice Palace, just as Mindo initiates his lunar eclipse. In the meantime, Blair in his cyber form has found a way to communicate with Red Shroud, but Red Shroud cannot break out of his stupor. Blair commissions Alex to help him, and Red Shroud is freed. But Rughal's villains overwhelm him, and both he, Jabbar and Noora are trapped. At the same time, Mindo's artificial eclipse is well underway.

Dark Moon Rising Part 2

Within minutes, Mindo will succeed in creating a full lunar eclipse and Rughal can finally absorb the triad of triads. But Rughal is alerted to the presence of the 99 in the Ice Palace. Forming the terrifying Amalgam with Blackwolf and the ever-reluctant Murk, Rughal storms through the Palace, hunting the 99. Fattah portals in to help Jabbar and Noora, but all three are trapped by the Amalgam, and strapped into chairs to witness Rughal's triumph with the triad of triads. As Rughal absorbs the power of the combined Noor stones, he's suddenly attacked by Darr, who had been outside the Palace. Murk helps the 99 by holding off Blackwolf and as Mindo's eclipse machine grinds to a halt, Fattah gathers up the Noor stones. But Rughal isn't giving up and lunges at Fattah as he disappears into a portal. Amazingly, Rughal follows Fattah into the same portal, and both arrive in Ramzi's library in Seville. To Rughal's shock, he realises that his ability to portal with Fattah means he must be a Noor stone bearer. A centuries-old mystery is finally solved, and it's then that the Guardian makes his intervention. He cannot allow Rughal to continue his evil enterprise. The time has come for a resolution.
