On Sunday night's nail-biting Survivor: Cook Islands finale, Yul Kwon narrowly beat out tough competitor Ozzy by one vote to emerge as champion. Nathan "Nate" Gonzalez was laid-back cool for most of CBS' Survivor: Cook Islands (Thursdays at 8 pm/ET), and was known for his charming use of the English language. With the larger Raro tribe merging with the Aitu tribe, all should have been fine for a few weeks. Last week Jeff Probst shocked the members of the two tribes on Survivor: Cook Islands (Thursdays at 8 pm/ET, CBS) by telling them that both tribes would have to send a person home. Raro and Aitu each took the opportunity to get rid of people who they viewed as annoying, eliminating Ahn-Tuan (better known to fans as Cao Boi), who was very vocal about a plan to get the holder of the hidden immunity idol to step forward, and Cristina Coria, a hardworking (yet deemed too-bossy) cop. NBC jumped the shark in 2004.The Apprentice was the hottest show on television. We're talking absolute must see TV that was oozing buzz. NBC tried to capitalize on the show's success and put all their eggs in the Donald's reality basket.I said it then, and I'm saying it now — moving The Apprentice to anchor Thursday nights sent the network right over the fin. ABC learned its lesson with Millionaire. CBS always had CSI and Everybody Loves Raymond to go with Survivor and The Amazing Race.Thursday nights belonged to NBC. It lost Friends and Frasier (which had jumped the shark years ago) and had nothing in the pipeline. First to fourth wasn't an "if", it was a "when".I understand how tempting it is to lead off each night with a game show or reality show (i.e. inexpensive show). It's also another big mistake. CBS has announced that The Amazing Race 10 will cross the finish line on Dec. 10, to be followed a week later on Sunday, Dec. 17, by the final tribal council for Survivor: Cook Islands. As is tradition, a live reunion show will air after the Survivor finale, starting at 10 pm/ET.
