Superman, however, tells them a bit too late that it is Red Kryptonite, which has unexpected effects. This time it de-ages Superman to a young, powerful, and brattish Super-toddler who damages and destroys anything he can get his hands on, including the Justice League computer. Not helping matters any is Mxyzptlk, who shows up after his 90-day exile in the Fifth Dimension to play the doting uncle to this young Superman. First he turns Samurai into a basketball and the Wonder Twins and Firestorm into wind-up wooden soldiers. But this bores young Superman really fast, so Mxyzptlk transports him to the zoo where he magically lets loose some wild animals. The Super Friends corral these animals only to find young Superman causing an earthquake with a temper tantrum, demanding to have something to eat. Zan suggests ice creams, and so Mxyzptlk creates a giant scoop of vanilla ice cream with a cherry on top that ends up covering a train track bridge. Seeing an oncoming train headed for the massive scoop, Samurai uses his whirlwind power to change it to whipped cream, which saves the train as it harmlessly passes through it, but annoys young Superman.
