Sean Cahill, informing Jonathan Sidwell and Logan Sanders of the allegation of collusion between Mike and Harvey, gives Mike leverage on the Gillis buyout. Rachel, wanting distance from Logan, suggests Mike add one more contingency to his deal, which puts a snag in the proceedings. Jessica, meanwhile, asks Louis to quietly examine Jeff Malone's contract for loopholes. He finds one, and moves on it when he can't reach Harvey, which destroys Harvey's leverage with Charles Forstman. Everybody forcing their own agendas creates a topsy-turvy roller coaster ride for all that could be one person's career ender.

In the fallout of the Gillis deal and Forstman's betrayal, friends, associates, lovers and colleagues regroup to pick up the fallen pieces. Jessica offers Louis "a gift" as a reward for bringing a conclusion to the firm -- anything he can name (except a full partnership). Louis eventually finds the right gift to befit his image as a hero.

Mike thinks he found a way after Cahill approaches him on the street, but Cahill retaliates by informing them that Logan Sanders has granted him permission to get his communication records. Louis, upon learning this, tries to make sure that what he did is not revealed. Mike still needs space from Rachel.

Harvey surmises that Cahill will be targeting the Mike and Rachel relationship in court, but Cahill surprises them all by targeting the Jessica and Jeff relationship instead. While Harvey leads a counter-attack, accusing Cahill and Woodall of malicious prosecutions, Louis makes a confession which leads, by the reaction of others to it, to a realization no one had suspected. Still, the career of one member of the firm comes to an end.

Unable to work anywhere else in New York without bringing along clients, Louis asks Harvey for help, but Jessica says no. Katrina, still loyal to Louis, reveals a client that Louis could steal, which puts Louis and Harvey in direct and hostile confrontation. Mike's ignorance of a small Harvard-related detail inadvertently gives Louis leverage to wrest what he truly wants from Jessica.

Now with clout as a name partner, Louis spews his wrath with a vengeance, burying Mike in paralegal work, throwing away his friendship with Donna, and making further demands of Jessica. Katrina makes things worse by speculating that Jessica is playing Louis for a fool in waiting a week to announce Louis' advancement. Robert, updated by Louis and sensing something odd, calls in the favor Harvey promised him or else he'll spread the word about odd doings at the firm.

Harvey's Harvard professor comes to see him and says he needs a lawyer and he wants Harvey. But Harvey, because of something that happened between them, he refuses. But Mike convinces him to represent him. It seems like the man has been accused of taking a bribe when he was working on a case, because he was caught with a lot of money. When Harvey asks him where he got it, he answers Harvey knows; from gambling. He can't say that because he could get fired from Harvard if it got out. Harvey thinks he found a way for him to say where he got it and not let anyone know about it. But Mike preps him, Mike realizes that he didn't get it from gambling. Jessica tells Louis that she told Jeff Malone "how" Louis got back in the firm and his name on the door. She expects him not to tell him otherwise. Louis wants one of Harvey's clients and Harvey won't let him have one. But Donna tells him to give Luis what he wants. So Donna gives Louis a client and Louis is so enthusiastic about impressing her that he makes a mistake that blows up in his face.

Harvey and Louis travel to see a client to whom they have deep ties. Harvey takes advantage of the trip to force Louis and Mike to confront their trust issues. In flashbacks, the root of Harvey and Louis's competitive relationship is explained, Mike learns the limits of his intelligence when it comes to the law, and Jessica hires Rachel to the firm.

Prof. Gerard asks Mike to talk Harvey into accepting a case on a whistle-blower (a type of case the firm usually never takes on). Mike takes the case himself but finds it harder to get through than expected. Jeff pranks Louis through the receptionists as a means to blow off steam over how he got his name on the wall. Jessica considers telling Jeff how Louis actually got his name on the wall, hoping it won't derail their romance.

When Evan Smith brings new evidence nullifying the firm's victory against Liberty Rail, Harvey and Mike must scramble to save the case, but when District Attorney Wolf comes after the firm, they're faced with the real possibility of Donna going to prison for her role.
