Every year Eric plays in the parents vs. children cricket match at his kids' school, and every year he's bowled first ball by the lad with the thick glasses while his perfect next-door neighbor Ray Perfect makes 100 then deliberately gives away his wicket. When Brian and Claire produce a collage at school entitled "The Shame", Eric is shocked at the damage that his repeated failure is inflicting on his kids and resolves to make one last stab at getting off the mark.
Episode 2
How hard can it be to find a working toilet in Europe's greatest metropolis? Eric is about to find out. Back at home, Claire needs a costume for her school project, which leads Maria into open conflict with the Perfects.
Episode 3
Eric is partnered with Alison on a team-building paintball outing--on which their jobs depend. While he's away, the kids must stay with their mother and her new partner. Meanwhile, Maria spends time with an elderly neighbor.

While Brian goes on a Cub Scout camping trip, Claire invites a friend to sleep over outside in a tent--a friend with a neurotically-overprotective single mother to whom Eric is unexpectedly attracted when he meets her.

Au pair Maria has gone too far this time: She has posed naked for the adult magazine "Bare Au Pair" and left a copy lying around the house. Not only must Eric sack Maria and find a replacement, he must explain to his kids, some five years before he is ready, what the naked bodies in the magazine are really doing.

Eric's boss, PP, has a menopausal crush on Sherry, a pretty young thing from the canteen. Heady with lust he over-promotes her ridiculously until she becomes Head of Office Services, responsible for a huge budget. Eric is brought in as the fall guy and made responsible for her every mistake--of which there are many. Things get even worse for him when Sherry rejects PP's advances and declares that Eric is the one she loves.
