Six weeks have passed since we last saw Dave and Cara and they are trying to have a date night, just the two of them, away from the busy family. But things go wrong when Jen accidentally burns down Temptation Spa and Hugo has a heart attack behind the bar at the Playground. Hugo's new friend Xandra encourages him to take early retirement and sell the bar. Dave worries about his future until Cara suggests turning disaster into opportunity - Dave should buy the bar himself. But Cara's own future is suddenly uncertain when it turns out that Jen didn't pay the insurance for Temptation Spa. Cara has lost everything. An upset Cara tells Jen she doesn't want to see her any more. Dave assures Cara he can step up and take care of her and the kids. Azza also wants to step up, convincing Betty that they should go ahead and have a baby. Betty agrees, but she's only doing it for the maternity leave and special treatment. Julia struggles to accept that Phillip has really left her. When he finally makes it clear, she turns her focus to revenge. She will take the bastard down.

Dave enjoys being the boss, dishing out free drinks and partying, while Cara tries not to feel bored with her new role as domestic goddess. When weirdo Scarlett is unexpectedly invited to the school ball by popular and handsome Kash Connor, Cara is delighted to have a project - she will help Scarlett to be the belle of the ball. But Jasmine discovers Kash only invited Scarlett as a dare, he's not going to show up on the night. A furious Dave is aware of how invested Cara is in Scarlett's night so he pays Kash a visit, insisting that he take Scarlett to the ball as promised. The ball is a success with Dave ensuring that Scarlett has extra street cred when he arranges an after-ball party at Azza's place. The next day, Cara is eager to hear how Scarlett's night was and is shocked when she casually reports that she did sex, drugs and alcohol. Cara finds out what Dave did for Scarlett and is touched that he cares. But the sweet moment is ruined when Cara recognizes the Playground's new waitress - Georgia, a very recent ex-fling of Dave's. Xandra tells an interested Georgia that Cara and Dave are unbreakable, but Georgia isn't deterred. She likes a challenge. Watch out, Dave and Cara...

Cara is trying very hard to be relaxed and trusting as Dave works closely with the flirty Georgia. When Jen begs her to help out with work - a bridal pamper session - Cara guesses it will be a good distraction. But Jen is horrified when she realises that the bride she's massaging is marrying her favourite ex-boyfriend Sal. It could be awkward but then Jen discovers that the bride has never heard of her, and she is upset - why hasn't Sal been hating on her to his fiancée? Annoyed that Jen is being irrational and chaotic again, Cara seeks refuge in the bar where Georgia attempts to clear the air - and then kisses her passionately. Turns out that Georgia doesn't just have her eye on Dave, she thinks the three of them could have fun together one night. Cara worries that Dave is tempted - is this what guys his age do? Then when Jen accuses her of being a prude, a defiant Cara lets Dave know that she wants to consider Georgia's proposition. But will Dave and Cara go through with letting someone else into their bed?

Cara and the kids are excited that it's Dave's 25th birthday, even though he tried to hide it from them. Cara organises a birthday dinner but is thrown when Dave casually mentions that his dad is in town. Meanwhile, Julia is out looking for casual meaningless sex, to help move on from her marriage. She meets a tall handsome stranger and goes back to his hotel room, unaware that he is Dave's father, Warren. When Julia finds out who he is, she tells a horrified Cara, who wants to keep it secret from Dave - he'd be gutted if he knew his dad cheated on his mum. There's a party at Azza's, during which Jen and Phillip get stoned and enjoy the night together - perhaps a little too much. When Cara learns from Betty that Dave has been keeping another secret from her, she's upset but realises she must be honest too. Though she knows it will hurt him, Cara tells Dave the truth about his cheating father.

Dave is in denial about his father's fling with Julia, ignoring his calls and hanging out with Azza instead. Betty urges Azza to do something about the leaky roof at the flat. Cara worries about Dave avoiding his father and so arranges for Warren to come over. But Dave is unimpressed when Warren shares his secret for a successful marriage - variety, or discreet cheating. Dave wants Warren to be honest with Natalie or Dave will tell her about the cheating. Meanwhile, Cara is happy to have made up with Jen, but worried when Logan wants to sing at the school talent quest - he's a terrible singer. Scarlett and Jasmine urge Cara not to let Logan sing, but she doesn't want to squash his dreams. Azza attempts to fix the leaky roof but meanwhile Michael is horrified that pregnant Betty isn't being looked after properly. He offers her his spare room and Betty accepts - she's leaving Azza. Dave takes out his anger at his dad on Julia, who goes to see Warren to give him a serve. Cara's attempts to soothe Dave are thwarted when he gets a call from a worried Natalie - apparently Warren is not coming home. Dave and Cara go to the hotel only to find Julia there with Warren. He announces to a shocked Dave that he is leaving Natalie, as he is in love with Julia.
