General Hammond summons Colonel Jack O'Neill out of retirement to embark on a secret rescue mission. O'Neill confesses that he disobeyed orders to destroy the Stargate on Planet Abydos, and that scientist Daniel Jackson may still be alive. Arriving on Abydos with his team, O'Neill meets up once again with the scientist, who has discovered a giant elaborate cartouche in hieroglyphics. All signs point to the fact that this is a map of many Stargates that exist throughout the galaxy - a development that makes the dream of the SG-1 team to travel throughout the universe in time a reality.

After the battle, Earth's forces and those of their allies regroup. Teal'c is a prisoner of the Lucian Alliance, who he convinced to join the attack but now think they were fooled into joining them so as to have their fleet destroyed. Daniel thinks he knows what Merlin's weapon looks like, but no one seems to know where it is to be found. On board one of the Ori vessels, Vala gives birth to a baby girl - who very quickly grows into a preteen. She turns out to be an Ori in human form, and Vala hopes to convince her that the Ori are evil. It's clearly not going to be easy.

Question: I know that last week was packed with season finales, talk of cancellations, and predictions of the successes for next fall, but I hope The Good Wife might get some attention. I'm in no way a TV expert, but the gestalt of the last scene was surprising. From the editing to the acting to the music (so out of place for the show, but somehow appropriate at the same time), those few minutes just felt like what great TV is. In particular, the editing of the elevator ride made me feel as though I was watching a cabler. While on the page the plot was perhaps mundane or even cliché, the execution was impressive. — Erin

Robert Picardo has made an indelible mark as a successful character actor in Hollywood for the last 30+ years, starring as such beloved characters as Dr. Dick Richard on China Beach, Coach Cutlip on The Wonder Years, The Doctor on Star Trek: Voyager and most recently as hard-ass Richard Woolsey on Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis. David Hewlett has played the arrogant and often irritating Rodney McKay on Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis since 2002.
