An unusual feature of tonight's variety show was the appearance of the king of clowns, Emmett Kelly, who emceed the festivities in pantomime. Raymond Massey read the Nativity story from St. Luke, Tony Bennett sang a hymn and "Santa Claus is Coming to Town," Lionel Hampton jived it up with Tommy and Jimmy Dorsey's Orchestra, and the Martin Brothers presented a puppet show.

Elvis Presley performs "Blue Suede Shoes" and "Heartbreak Hotel". The June Taylor Dancers perform an Irish dance routine in honor of St. Patrick's Day. Glenn Derringer, age eleven, plays "The Tommy Dorsey Boogie Woogie" on the organ accompanied by Tommy Dorsey on the trombone. Guy Lombardo comes on stage from the audience and Tommy Dorsey informs the viewers that nest Tuesday evening at 9:00 on CBS is the premiere of "the Guy Lombardo Diamond Jubilee" television show. In the Irish themed finale, Jimmy Dorsey plays the clarinet, Henny Youngman the violin, Tommy Dorsey the trombone, all while surrounded by the June Taylor Dancers.
