A mechanic is tracked down who repeatedly reported the fatal flaw in the plane's design, but gets shaken down by fixer ruthless Nathan Shaw. Phillips is convinced to risk a $1,000,000 offer as he's the only hope for other and future victims. Eventually, Todd finds enough information on a notebook through various codes she left and gets the technician to the trial just in time.

She was clueless about the drugs, with the only abnormal link being that she drove to Canada to buy special soaps made there. Todd's undercover sleuthing is crucial in uncovering the ingenuous drug network.

Todd and Lea start to flirt as they re-investigate the case- the new tenant in that apartment also mysteriously dies, having been pushed over the railing. Todd and Lea get locked in the basement overnight with the boiler raging, an attempting to kill them. It seems a neighbor, an accomplished writer, actually stole the story from the original victim and changed her name to avoid association with her formerly horrible books. Lea leave to Maine for her next True Crime podcast, but leaves Todd her spare set of lock-picks as a memento.

Margaret is sad So she throws herself into the case and When her client goes to the office and she sees Todd he tells him she robbed the bank which makes Margaret re think the case. Told tries to talk to his Brother and learns That Allison is with him, he feel left. Eventually the siblings learn things about the case which makes Todd and Margaret realize That her client is in trouble and they need to Help her.

Later the and Margareth work out the scientist's research partner found a devious way to dump him for refusing to profit from their invention to reduce the volume of plastic by benevolently giving it away instead, and has a twin brother who established a literal alibi.

The Wrights investigate the fatal shooting of an investigative reporter, defending the arrogant but innocent accused, who was set up as part of a cover-up. Todd reaches out to his old PI partner and manipulative 'mentor' Veronica in the penitentiary, which also incarcerates the leader of a motor gang, the Portland Ghosts. Veronica points Todd into investigating the lead detective, dirty cop Luke Anten, who has a pattern of claiming a C.I. tipped him off to a suspect, thus avoiding to reveal his -inexistent- source and framing innocent parties, as turns out part of aw wider police corruption network. Todd is tempted to resume bad habits with Veronica, but still tells her he's cutting all ties with her. Unbeknownst to Todd and Margaret, Veronica is rewarded with early parole.

Vice principal Imani Turner stabs her school principal -a job she wanted- during a birthday party in the staff room, but has no memory of the incident. Margareth feels indebted to father Lionel, her first high-profile client. Reviewing footage of the party, Imani seems to be in a daze for a large part of the party before the incident occurs as she goes berserk, then collapses. This is linked to a side-effect of a drug she'd been taking, but wasn't revealed to the public or the FDA despite showing up in drug trials. Todd must go undercover in the mean pharmaceutical company, as the doctor who informed them was bought, but he finds the lush scientist who was fired for insisting on proper tests before applying for FDA approval.

Margaret jumped to join forces with attorney Gus Easton, whom she as a crush on, who defends the city of Portland in the presumably first of a series of potentially bankrupting lawsuits from contractors over building permits issued for unsound ground, the soil tests having been tampered with after conscientious official Eugene did them properly. As soon as she realizes Todd's present client Peter is such contractor, the law firm is legally obliged to erects an internal firewall dividing the firm and offices in two incommunicado sides, with obnoxious nitpicker Lyle as arbiter, even extending to private life, which sabotages Allison's already gloomy birthday. The law comes down as suddenly, yet anxiously on an unproved assumption, when it appears Peter's murdered secretary Audrey scouted the building site and helped forge the soil samples.

Senior partner Crest pressures Margaret to show 'killer instinct' by settling a spoiled socialite client's divorce quickly so that she might become named partner. Margaret has Todd investigate the spouses for infidelities, well hopefully none, which he finds hard to prove. Unexpectedly, Veronica returns to ask Todd to help retrieve hidden cash so that she can disappear to Brazil forever, allegedly wanted by ruthless mob brothers. A mysterious woman leads Todd to get framed for all sorts of illegal activities, even roping in Margaret as undercover, getting arrested for illegal gambling. Margaret and Todd trick Veronica to confess on tape by faking a trial and handing over decoy recording devices. Veronica still tricks the mysterious woman to go to prison in her place. Susan kisses Todd spontaneously, then runs away.

Access to the water and the poison properties mean it must be on one of eight fellow jurors, the motive probably linked to the victim's former Wall Street job. Todd bonds with prime suspect Amy, a former Rose Queen (i.e. miss Portland), who may actually be the intended victim, Susan sees them kiss just when she's finally ready to deal with her kiss with Todd. Allison is moodier then ever, and meanly uncooperative, as turns out because her marriage is on the rocks.

Margaret coaches Susan working on a stay of execution for a man on death row, presumed routine as it would be the first capital punishment in Oregon for 28 years. His execution time is 6 that night, and the governor needs an emergency surgery; the hope is she'll be fine in 3-4 hours, in case the motion doesn't work. A supposed walk-in client for Margaret reveals a bomb strapped to her, to demand the execution be allowed to continue, but should otherwise proceed as if it is business as usual. Todd bursts into Margaret's office, knocking the door into the woman and causes Margaret to yell, "firing" him for his bad work on the Hedges case (another incident with a bomb threat), a clue he gets. Todd, Francey and Lyle learn that the woman was actually the S.O. of a nephew of the victim, Tod heroically sneaks behind paneling to disarm her. The blackmailer later holds Alison hostage with everyone else left in the office. The team manages to get a video of a confession from the office, convincing the judge stay the execution last minute.

Would be-chef Lauren Park, a classmate of both Todd and Susan, hires witnessing client Margaret to sues Michelin-starred restaurant chef Jax for abusive work environment, then finds him knife-murdered early next morning. Margaret grows closer to the owner of the restaurant through a shared love of wine, and learning that he has Parkinson's, just like Harry did, or pretends so. Chasing down a suspect and befriending the conscientious CSI man, Todd licks some corn smut and becomes violently ill for the day, forcing Margaret to take his place as undercover dishwasher, found-out by the suspect, threat-recorded rival chef. Attempting to recover, Todd puts on his mother's blazer and sunglasses, leading the other restaurant to mistake him for a famous food reviewer and bring him in. Ultimately, it's proven that Jax was the one who had Parkinson's, which is why he yelled at Lauren for under-seasoning her dishes as he was losing his sense of taste, driving his mislead business partner to fatal despair.

Chuck, Allison's estranged husband who works at a sports arena. Came up with a contest held st the arena's hockey games. So far it's a hit but then one day Chuck is taken away by the FBI. Todd and Margaret suspect that they think his contest is not on the up and up. They go to see him and discover Margaret's rival Natalie Harris is behind the investigation. Todd checks it out and they learn someone is asking kickback from the winners. Problem is Chuck is suppose to be the only one who knows who the winners are. They learn Chuck doesn't keep the winners identity well hidden which means that Chuck's co workers are suspects. Allison starts to ponder on how she married Chuck.
