Episode #1.1

45 mins

The Salinger-Hofer family from Vienna are hoping for plenty of nature and a life away from the hustle and bustle of the big city when they move to Rotten, father Matthi's home village in Tyrol. Daughter Alma suffers from severe asthma and the mountain air is supposed to provide relief. Her mother Lucia will take over the village doctor's surgery, while ex-café owner Matthi wants to look after the children for the time being. But in their new home, the family of four is confronted with unpleasant circumstances: Mould is growing on the walls, the boiler in the cellar is making eerie noises and Alma seems to be having psychic encounters. In the middle of the night, a young woman knocks on her window and hands her a ring - it soon turns out to be Marianne Wild, an environmental activist from the village who disappeared over 40 years ago under unexplained circumstances. Alma also sees Marianne again in the village shop, while everyone else present denies the presence of a young woman with red curls. Was it a hallucination? The exuberant imagination of a highly sensitive girl? Faced with her mother's lack of understanding, Alma becomes petulant. Yes, there was someone there, she wasn't mistaken. When Alma sees Marianne standing on the opposite side of the country road and approaches her as if spellbound, she narrowly escapes an accident ... When the confused neighbor Aurelia asks Alma about her missing daughter's ring, Lucia is unsettled. Was Alma telling the truth after all? Something doesn't seem right here .

Ever since she moved to the Austrian mountain village of Rotten, young Alma has been having psychic apparitions linked to a woman from the village who disappeared under mysterious circumstances 40 years earlier. Marianne Wild met her in the flesh several times and gave her a ring - but Alma is the only one who can see Marianne. Alma's "apparitions" cause perplexity and even open conflict among her family, especially as Alma, who is misunderstood, becomes increasingly stubborn and withdrawn. When Alma claims to have seen Marianne lying in the glacial ice of the Muttstein, her mother Lucia and Valentina, who knows the area, want to get to the bottom of the matter once and for all. Determined, the three of them hike up the Muttstein through the deep snow. They do indeed make a gruesome discovery there - but shortly afterwards a storm breaks out of the blue and puts them in great danger ... Meanwhile, Alma's grandfather, the hotelier and village potentate Bruno Hofer, is preparing for the community meeting at which the construction of a new gondola for the ski area of the once flourishing village is to be decided - even if part of the Muttstein has to be blown away for this. But there seems to be no choice: Either new winter sports areas are developed - or sooner or later the village will have no future due to a lack of foreign currency income .

Episode #1.3

46 mins

Alma and her younger brother Jonas are about to start school. As the children are about to leave for the village school, police investigator Inspector Prochazka appears at the door and informs their mother Lucia that the woman whose body Alma has tracked down with apparent psychic powers has been murdered. Lucia's gut feeling has not deceived her - but how does her daughter know so much about the murder victim Marianne Wild? Aurelia, Marianne's elderly mother, has an explanation: Alma is the new guardian of the Muttstein, just like her own daughter before her. Her job is to protect the mountain - otherwise, according to an old legend, the village will incur its wrath ... Meanwhile, Bruno Hofer, Alma's grandfather and a respected man in the village, is pressing ahead with his mammoth project: a new gondola is to make Rotten an attractive holiday destination for winter holidaymakers once again. However, the construction project requires large-scale blasting on the Muttstein. He does not accept the arguments of the few opponents of the project that the massive destruction of nature is pointless anyway in view of increasing global warming and melting snow: Rotten needs foreign currency and therefore the gondola - or the village is doomed to economic ruin. Not even the orders of the investigating commissioner, who wants to secure tracks on the glacier, seem to deter him from his plan to blow up the mountain ridge. Alma's father Matthi clashes with Bruno, and when he meets his distraught wife Lucia at home, who has outgrown the whole situation, he is faced with a fait accompli: Lucia just wants to get away from the village with the children - without him if necessary .

Episode #1.5

45 mins

In the nerve-wracking situation surrounding her missing daughter at Muttstein, Lucia is slowly losing her grip on reality. Who was the mysterious stranger who introduced himself to her as the partner of environmental activist Marianne Wild, who was murdered decades ago, and was apparently only seen by Lucia? According to her mother-in-law Maria, it couldn't have been her brother Jakob - he died a long time ago in a car accident in Argentina ... The search for the missing Alma is about to be canceled due to the increased risk of avalanches. According to the head of the search team, the chances of a child surviving without a winter jacket are virtually zero after two icy days and nights on the mountain. Nevertheless, Lucia sets off on her own to the search area on the Muttstein. But she hasn't reckoned with her father-in-law Bruno, who has long since given up on Alma and now, of all times, wants to carry out the blasting that will open up the Muttstein for his large-scale construction project ... Investigator Prochazka confronts Maria with the results of the investigation into Marianne, which make her visibly nervous. What do Bruno and Maria have to do with Marianne's disappearance?
