Hampton is made to feel tiny and inferior. When Belle drops her keys to the shop into a saxophone, Hampton is the only one small enough to reach inside and recover them, making everyone realize that bigger doesn't always mean better.

Jennifer plays the trumpet, but she's not good at it at all. The postman has a lot of work today and is thinking of delivering today's letters at another time. Belle tells them stories about how it was good to stick to it and not give up.

Bookworms Lewis and Carroll are rough-housing and Carroll breaks Belle's prized bust of Bach. Belle sings the story of Little Toot and In Dutch. The stories help Carroll realize that she must accept responsibility for her actions.

Belle enlists the help of the kids to clean up the bookshop. A few children choose not to help so Belle sings them the stories both stories demonstrate the value of working together and eventually everyone gets into the fun of helping out.

Everyone seems to have problems to solve. Kirsten has lost her favorite, lucky hat. Belle is trying to fix a cello that someone dropped off at the shop for repairs. To put their tasks in perspective, Belle sings the story of "Mickey and the Beanstalk" (Jack and the Beanstalk) to show Kirsten and the rest of the children that a little ingenuity can overcome gigantic problems.
