Gordon is going to the flower shop and asks Oscar to tell anyone who needs him he'll be back soon. Oscar asks why he's buying flowers. Gordon states they're for Susan, and not for any special occasion - he just wants to show her he cares. Oscar asks him to buy a second bunch of flowers for Susan from himself - "Every year or two I do something nice, just to confuse people." Cartoon-"Imagination V" -- A surreal segment involving the Venus de Milo statue, a violin, a vampire, and vigilantes. Artist: Jeff Hale Gordon presents a vase of his flowers to Susan. Oscar then gives her a rusty tin can filled with just the stems of the roses he got. Susan is flattered nonetheless - "It's not very often that a girl gets a vase of roses from her husband and a can of thorny sticks from a grouch on the same day." A female vocalist sings about the many different types of flowers found all over. Bob has a simplified picture of a city street. He and the kids recreate the image using a toy car and blocks of varying sizes. Muppets Ernie and Bert - Ernie brings an umbrella, a flashlight, and Bert's bowling ball to the bathtub, just in case the electricity goes out, the roof leaks, and somebody shows up asking to borrow a bowling ball. Bert thinks that Ernie is being ridiculous -- but everything happens, just as Ernie predicted.

Pete (Cleavon Little) stops by Big Bird's nest, where Big Bird is putting together a rocketship to go to the Moon. Pete is unsure about the prospect of actual space travel, but he and the kids help Big Bird build the rocket by following a diagram. Big Bird realizes he can't go to the Moon just now - Animation "The King of Eight" Big Bird returns with a bag of birdseed, but Pete tells him that the rocket is merely a model and can't actually fly. Big Bird knows this and intends to reach the Moon using his imagination. He envisions himself riding on the rocket through space, as he flies over a star and under a planet. He passes the cow from "Hey Diddle Diddle," indicating the Moon is near. Sure enough, he sees it approaching, flies over it, then makes his return back to Earth. Big Bird proposes they continue imagining by doing a rocket countdown. As they reach the end, the model rocket actually takes off into the sky. Pete says that Big Bird has a terrific imagination.

Increasingly worried that Big Bird will break the chair, Tom shows him the correct direction in which to read the words, and Big Bird understands the sign. Tom puts the sign on the chair, and the chair breaks.

For example, Gordon cries "ouch" from offscreen while shaving and Susan heads back inside to check on him.
