Secret Nazi Bases Season 2 Episodes

Season 2 Episode Guide

8 Episodes 2021 - 2021

Episode 1

The Sum of All Fears

42 mins

What evil, yet boundary pushing technology took shape in these walls? Though the Nazis were barbaric, they counted among their number a brain-trust that would usher in the modern era of rocketry. Guided missiles, the Wasserfall, and the war-changing V2 were dreamed up and tested in Peenemunde, a German seaside city suddenly overtaken by Nazi elite. Far from the prying eyes of the Allies, along the Baltic coast, scientists like Wernher von Braun designed and tested weapons to bring the Allies to their knees. Terrifying yet amazing new sciences and technologies from the dark imagination of the Nazi elite came to life through some of the world's greatest minds. What terrors might they have unleashed had their position not been betrayed? And would it have been a weapon of mass destruction that ended the war had Hitler believed in the center from the beginning?

Episode 2

Lurking in the Shadows

History books may claim WWII began in 1939, but Germany's preparations for the war began years earlier. Long before the first shot was fired, Hitler began a slow build up in the East. Under the guise of waterway projects, dams and drawbridges, Germany began work on what would become their most technologically advanced front. By 1938, the Germans had eighty kilometers of tobruks, bunkers, tunnels and factories built into the Festungfront Oder-Warth-Bogen. Though Hitler would brag about the Siegfried Line and the Atlantic Wall, he'd keep the Eastern front to himself. As Germans scoffed over unprotected Eastern borders, flamethrowers and guns were trained to the east, ready for attack. How and why did Hitler keep this front a secret? And how did he build it right under the Allies' noses? How did a line built to house 25,000 soldiers fall to the Russians in just three days? And what can Germany's forgotten front tell us about Germany's hidden military might?

Episode 3

Hitler's Secret Underground City

Deep in the Owl Mountains of Poland lies a forgotten Nazi complex, the purpose of which largely remains a mystery. Built between 1943 and 1945, some sources suggest the massive, underground complex could have sheltered up to 27,244 people from Allied bombs. The size of this structure was a truly jaw-dropping 213,000 cubic feet of tunnels, according to Chief Architect Albert Speer. Reportedly, more concrete was used for this structure than to protect the entire German population from air raids. But much of the concrete is still unaccounted for. Could there be more tunnels and structures no one has yet found? The purpose is covered by the mists of time. Theories abound to what it was designed for - manufacturing and storing secret new weapons? A Last stand of a terrifying SS plot called Werwolf? Or even deeper secrets we have yet to glean?

The Secrets of Nazi Future Tech

Hidden in a remote mountainous forest lies a structure with no duplicate anywhere else in the world. Nicknamed the Fly Trap (or Hitler's Stonehenge), but until this day researchers have no definitive idea what it is. A test pad for early helicopters? A water cooling tower for Atomic weapons? Rumours even lurk about a strange anti gravity machine. Or something even more futuristic and deadly? Further investigation of the area reveals mysterious tunnels under, and nearby the structure, and strange buildings in the forest surrounding it. With very few documents to go on some experts feel this might have been one of the most secret operations the Nazi's undertook, as they attempted to develop weapons that even by today's standards, sound like science fiction.

Episode 5

Fuelling Evil

What structure struck such fear in the Allies that they bombed it nine times over? Outside the town of Pölitz lie the ruins of what was once one of Germany's most important assets - a place that kept the Luftwaffe in the air, U-boats patrolling the coasts, and the German war machine moving. At its height, Hydrierwerke Pölitz produced 15% of Germany's synthetic fuel supply. As one of the first synthetic facilities in the world, the Germans harnessed scientific breakthroughs to keep the war waging. Little did they know, their foray into synthetics would be their only hope. In their quest for oil, they'd turn allies into enemies, conquer continents, and broker deals with traitorous businessmen from abroad. Try as they might, their efforts still came up short and campaigns were compromised. How did Hydrierwerke Politz - and facilities like it - become the be-all-end-all of Germany's failing war effort? With science and military might on their side, how did Germany's plans for world conquest come down to a problem of fuel supply?

Secrets of Hitler's Castle

When the Nazis took Ksiaz Castle, they didn't do it for the view. What began with an eviction became a massive renovation. Slave laborers toiled under brutal conditions, at the behest of Nazi engineers. Secret staircases and lifts were built as the castle was stripped of its fixings; meanwhile, underneath, a vast network of tunnels was taking form. What plans did the Nazis have for this castle in Lower Silesia? Was the Fuhrer himself destined to walk these halls? Rumours of stolen art and kingly treasures still haunt this structure. Behind the opulent walls and chandeliers whispers of plans and schemes still linger and little is known of their full intent.

The Future of Evil

The Nazis were determined to recreate the world according to their twisted view of perfection. This applied to the human realm, as well as nature. Two such massive projects give way to this evil plot. Built in 1934, Ordensburg Vogelsang, a virtual Nazi Castle was constructed with the intention of building the New German; elite future leaders of the Reich. This sprawling complex remains one of the largest intact Nazi structures to survive the war. In the mists of a remote forest - last of the primeval one that covered ancient Europe- hide dark plans and evil experiments. On the Jurassic Park scale. Zoologist Lutz Heck and his brother Heinz were convinced they could bring ancient Germanic species back to life using a technique called 'back breeding'. This attracted the attention of Hermann Göring, an avid hunter who was also Hitler's second in command. After the conquest of Poland, the Nazis set to work preparing a prehistoric hunting ground in the forest of Bialowieza.

Himmler's Occult Castle

In 1933, as the Nazi party was on the rise, Heinrich Himmler signed a 100-year lease for the decaying 17th century Wewelsburg castle in Büren, Germany. He crafted the space into a clandestine training space for the SS. Specifically, it was intended to be a school for their cult-like religious narratives. The complex was intended to be the Grail Castle, and Himmler believed that when the Nazis won, artifacts from the castle would gain magical powers. What happened inside the castle during the twelve years it was under Nazi control has largely been lost to time, because Himmler ordered the interior to be burned as the tides of the war turned. What terrifying secrets did these walls hold?
