Episode 1

King and Fox are working together to uncover a smuggling operation. Intelligence provided by Interpol points the finger at a ship called the Sans Souci from Marseilles. Searches, however, do not find any evidence. The danger increases when King, working with the Interpol agent Claude, is chased and shot at by two criminals. With the help of a crewman they work out how the smuggling is being done. Now they have to work out who is doing it.

Carlo Montagna is the captain of an Italian cargo vessel that docks in Montreal. He has travelled there to see his 15 year-old son, Martin, who he hasn't seen before. Carlo meets the boy at his adoptive family's house but keeps his identity secret. However, the boy's adoptive father recognises Carlo and confronts him about his motives. King acts as a mediator to resolve the differences between Montagna, Martin and the boy's parents.
Episode 3

A Polish ship, Górnik, is in port and the authorities want it loaded and moved out quickly. However, it seems that the captain is stalling their departure. One of the sailors has disappeared and has gone ashore with the intention of chasing after a woman he loves. When he crosses into America, the incident escalates as the American and Polish authorities become involved, and King is in-between.

Captain Folsom takes over a ship a tramp steamer called the Satropos only to find out that all the crew except two have quit. They all left when they heard that Folsom was to be made captain because of his reputation. He lost one ship in a hurricane and his next ship in a fire, with many lives lost. Although Folsom was exonerated, the crew are superstitious and consider him a jinx and refuse to work with him. King is asked to try and get a crew. The crew do return, with a pay increase, and the insurance inspectors approve the voyage. To help the captain, King signs on to see all goes well as he suspects that there could be some sabotage.

Episode 5
Somebody is dumping old cars in the seaway in protest at the proposed placing of an expressway through a native Mohawk reservation. King takes up with an Indian girl and finds out that the protester is Woody Threerivers. He finds out there is conflict between Woody and the local Indian council who are in favour of progress. Things escalate when Woody confronts a surveying crew and destroys their equipment. His brother then threatens to blow up a bridge, which brings things to a head.
Episode 6
A man's body washed down the river is found in a lock undergoing maintenance. The body is weighted down by a part that could only have come from the Star of Liberia. A head count on the ship shows the correct 33 crew members but King is still suspicious. Health concerns are raised when it is revealed that the man died from the plague and so the ship is put under quarantine. The captain's is particularly upset, denying any knowledge of any problem. When another crew member disappears, King is particularly suspicious.
Episode 7

A journalist, Nicole Vanay, has an interview with Fox about a hypothetical act of piracy on the seaway, and who has jurisdiction. This leaves Fox curious and he investigates her background. He then asks King to befriend her and find out more, which he does. She is on the trail of an ex-premier of France, who is leading a group of rebels determined to make Algeria a French colony again. They plan to seize a ship on the seaway to make their point. King goes undercover in order to stop them.
Episode 8

King receives a blood-stained parcel from Eric Svenson asking him to deliver it to his niece, Aline, who is an attractive and officious female third mate on a Norwegian ship. When Eric disappears King asks Aline to help find him. The package contains a ship in a bottle called the Bonhomme Richard, and when a man wants to pay a large amount of money for the bottle Aline is suspicious. Eric turns up dead and Aline is kidnapped as the criminals go after what is in the bottle.
Episode 9

Captain Jules Paneau is now blind and wants to take one last trip on the waterway on which he worked as a pilot, the Saguenay River. He has been gradually going blind over a number of years but it suddenly deteriorated three months ago at home. His wife is concerned that he is going to take his own life so Fox and King go aboard to make sure that he returns home safely. When the captain of the ship is taken ill, Paneau finds himself in demand.
Episode 10
A Russian ship, carrying some sugar and wheat, is legally prevented with a lien from leaving Toronto. The captain believes that the CIA is behind the plot because the sugar is from Cuba. King and Fox are the go-betweens as they try find the mysterious company, Amalgamated Trading, behind the lien. At the same time, a Russian sailor who is the captain's son is hospitalised with a fever of an unknown origin. When Amalgamated Trading is actually found to be a Soviet front, Fox and King have to find out what is happening and the link between all the events.
Episode 11
The crew of the Pandora, which is captained by Captain Harold Pederson, begin to mutiny over conditions on the boat. Nick King is sent to investigate after it appeared to break down in the middle of Toronto harbour. Nick is mystified when the captain seems to be under arrest in his own cabin by the crew. When he is threatened by the crew, Nick finds out that they are not being paid and are being overworked. Yet, the crew end up in court charged with mutiny, which is the only place where the truth is finally discovered.
Episode 12
The Gordon C. Leitch, carrying a cargo of grain, suddenly stopped in the waterway. Fox wants King to look into the reasons why it is stopped, which prompts the captain to bribe King to turn a blind eye to what is happening. Fox finally tells King the real reason for what is happening. It goes back to a war crime committed in Yugoslavia during the second world war and Fox wants to stop a murder.
Episode 13
King organises the repair of a ship owned by a wealthy ship owner with a beautiful Turkish wife. The owner decides to go on ahead to Ottawa by train and leaves his wife in Toronto. King is falls in love with her and she has strong feelings for him. When Fox realises what is going on, he is upset with King but King is at the mercy of his passions.
Episode 14
The Queenscliff, a ship that has sailed from Alexandria with a load of cotton, suddenly catches fire in Toronto harbour. When King gets there with the fire fighters he finds that the crew are not very happy. The present captain had been appointed by the ship's owner on the voyage over after the previous captain died on voyage. When King investigates the circumstances he finds that there are a number of events that don't make sense.
Episode 15
There have been a large number of warehouse robberies and King was nominated by Fox to investigate them. Reluctantly, he accepts the assignment and starts with his former friend, Roger, who was bashed in the last robbery. Unfortunately, Roger is on the skids and is not much help. Roger's sister is concerned about him and approaches Fox for help. Roger's friend, Charlie, who is known as 'The Wharf Rat', witnesses the murder of a security guard during another robbery. During a drunken rant he reveals what he saw and is now the target of the murderers. Roger approaches King for help.
Episode 16
When a drum with a dummy inside is tossed over Niagara Falls, the authorities are alerted that something is up. When King investigates, he finds that the drum came from a ship laid up, waiting for some engine repairs. The third mate, Heinz, is preparing to going over the falls and is preparing the drum so that he will be safe. Nobody is able to talk him out of it except, not even his girlfriend. Then a bookie gets involved with some big bets involved, which raises the stakes.
Episode 17
Maria has suddenly appeared at Canadian immigration after stowing away on a ship called the Ulysses. She refuses to give her full name and there is no indication of where she came from. The captain refuses to take her back on board until her status can found. King is charged with trying to find out where she came from so something can be done with her. Why she has chosen Canada is also a mystery until King tricks her and follows her, where he gives her some sage advice. However, she has another agenda.
Episode 18
A man is murdered and the hunt is on for the killer. The murderer is believed to be on the dock looking for a ship to escape on. King helps look for him. When he stows away on the 'Saganash Bay' and kidnaps the daughter, Sue, of a ship's captain things escalate. He blackmails the captain for a safe passage. In conversations with Sue, he justifies his crime by explaining that the victim was a Nazi concentration commandant. King joins the ship for a short ride and works out what has happened. But what is he able to do against an armed killer?
Episode 19
Nick is prevented from conducting a safety inspection aboard the Mckenzie, out of Glasgow, by its captain who says he under orders from the owners. He finds the owners do not exist and the ship has disappeared when he returns. Nobody will back him up and it appears that he is the only one who saw it. His only clue is a mysterious woman, who claims to be the captain's wife. She says she warned her husband not to sail. However, unable to find the ship, Nick thinks he must be going crazy. Then a photo of the captain aboard the ship, given to him by the woman, rejuvenates his efforts to find out what has happened.
Episode 20

The egotistical captain, Ballantyre, of a ship suspects that his wife is having an affair with the engineer, Kettner. She denies anything improper but he locks Kettner in the refrigerator anyway. The captain then files a report saying the engineer deserted the ship that means King is brought in to investigate the disappearance. King finds Kettner on the point of death but manages to revive him. Ballantyre has being vindictive towards him and continually putting him down, but King has yet to discover the real reason.
Episode 21
Billy is playing cowboys and indians with a cap gun and 'shoots' a man who falls down dead. He then comes face-to-face with what he thinks is the real killer and runs away. He runs into Nick and tells him his story. The killing took place outside an almost burnt out ship and Nick investigates. The body has disappeared and then Billy disappears leaving his sister frantic. The wrecked ship and its cargo are at the centre of the mystery, and Nick investigates.
Episode 22
An iron battle axe head believed to be of Viking origin is found in an excavation for a new loch. When other relics are found, Dr Cleo Seldon, the doctor in charge of archaeology at the site wants the work stopped until the relic is authenticated by Dr Goddard Borglun. Unfortunately, they are bought by a publicity-hungry entrepreneur called Augustus J. Cagle who is more interested in putting the relics on show and making money out of them. Fox is under pressure on one side to resume the excavation and on the other to conduct a proper archaeological dig - and then there are the Italian supporters of Christopher Columbus.
Episode 23
Nick is inspecting an abandoned ship in the harbour, which is to be scrapped, looking for equipment that can be salvaged and reused. Whilst searching the rooms he is knocked unconscious by an escaped prisoner, Roy Burke. Burke has been jailed for murder, although he claims he is framed. He is out for revenge against those who betrayed him. Nick is held prisoner but offers to help him prove he is innocent. He enlists the aid of Fox to look at the evidence and find the real criminal.
Episode 24

Colin Glendon's ship York collides with a tug owned by a very independent George Gaudette. Subsequently, when Glendon is sued by Gaudette, he is understandably upset and is determined to retaliate by putting him out of business. Glendon is not adverse to bending the law to get his own way and using all his influence to get rid of Gaudette. King is reluctantly used as a go-between but manages to see through Glendon's deceit.
Episode 25

The ship Elizabeth Rainey of the Superior and Dominion Line hits a wrecked dredge off Cap Baril and a life is lost. An inquiry is ordered to try and find out why. Admiral Fox is on the inquiry and Nick King is an interested observer. The captain claims he ordered the first officer on duty to steer well clear of the wreck. He supports the officer and feels that the radar malfunctioned. However, the first officer disputes his version of the events. The captain seems too willing to take the blame, and Admiral Fox and King are determined to find out why.
Episode 26
King overhears the doctor paying a patient after he had given her an injection in the doctor's office. King believes he is being blackmailed but is unsure why. After talking to the doctor's wife, King and Fox are even more determined to find out why. When the woman dies in his office the police become involved. King goes undercover and tries to prove her husband and/or his girlfriend murdered her somehow. The real story is far more complex.
Episode 27

Dr Amorest is being blackmailed by some Eastern bloc spies lead by Huberman. He is being asked to defect in order to save his wife, who has been kidnapped. King has trouble convincing the CIA agent Grainger of this as he believes the scientist is going willingly. Helped by the Huberman's secretary they find his wife and try to use her to find her husband. However, she then disappears. Some good detective work enables Grainger to find the couple and the spies who kidnapped them.
Episode 28

Episode 29
A nun had been collecting donations from the crew on the ship the Helen Evans when she is run over and killed by a reversing truck. When her handbag is accidentally opened a quantity of heroin is found. It turns out the nun was Carmen White, an ex con from the United States. They find that she goes collecting each time the Helen Evans, owned by Enzo Morell, arrives in port. King works with US authorities to find out about the smuggling ring but he is dating Morell's daughter, Marie. However, Fox and King cannot believe he is involved. Events escalate when one of the men involved is shot by Grainger, the investigator from the USA.
Episode 30
King and Grainger arrive at Fox's office and finds him unconscious and seriously wounded from a gunshot. To keep the drug smugglers off guard, they announce he is dead. King then believes that Fox saw something at the Morell residence. Enzo Morell and his company appear to be the key to the smuggling but then he is murdered. King and Grainger then go after his employees.
