Search and Rescue: North Shore is a documentary series following the highly skilled volunteer members of North Shore Rescue (NSR) as they find and rescue people in distress in the rugged mountains, canyons, forests and urban environments of North Vancouver, BC. The North Shore is both strikingly beautiful and notoriously dangerous due to its jagged drop offs and dense forests. Its topography, combined with its proximity to the city of Vancouver, make this some of the most "popular" and challenging rescue terrain in the country. With over 150 call outs a year, membership in NSR entails no small level of personal sacrifice. Through the lens of real rescues, we get to know some of the dedicated people who give their time to the busiest volunteer search and rescue organization in the country. Season 1 aired in 2020 and season 2 premieres in May 2024 with each season featuring five episodes.

Giving the Time

A hiker is trapped on a treacherous precipice. Then, a group trek ends in a serious head injury. Mike struggles to balance volunteering and family while Peter and Stan find an elderly man missing overnight in a surprising location.

Mutual Aid: Working Together

A smoky summer leads to a diabetic hiker in distress. Alec and Brady struggle against daylight to extract a mountain biker after a life-altering crash, while a cold case discovery triggers emotional memories for Mike.

A hiker's dog falls from a steep cliff, and a tip on a six-month-old cold case triggers the team to bring out the rescue dogs.

Found and Lost

Two young children are lost overnight, and the team reflects on what it takes for long line helicopter rescues. Later, a suicidal woman goes missing.
