It's the morning after Alexis' graduation, David's birthday which ended up being his first date with Patrick, the night which ended with David kissing Patrick, and the motel selling out for the first time, this upcoming night which is also sold out. What should be a happy time for all ends up being marred for the Roses as a collective when Stevie informs them that she found the elderly guest in Room 4 dead in his bed, most likely from natural causes. Johnny and Stevie, as co-owners, have to deal with removing the dead body without causing a panic among the other guests. A slip of the tongue leads to one other person that may be an added problem in the situation being in the know. Because the upcoming night is sold out and it will take a day to disinfect Room 4, Johnny makes the decision that David and Alexis' room needs to be used for a paying guest, which means that David and Alexis have to make alternate sleeping arrangements for the night. As such, David and Alexis will end up testing out their new relationships with Patrick and Ted respectively as their decided places to crash. Meanwhile, someone else among those at the motel believes she may be responsible for the death in Room 4, she not knowing what to do about it.

In emptying David and Alexis' garbage, Johnny discovers a used, positive pregnancy test. Sharing his find with Moira and David, they all naturally assume Alexis is pregnant with Ted's child. Johnny decides to confront Alexis about the find. Johnny's oblique talk makes Alexis believe that he has found out about another secret: that she has enrolled at Elmdale College, which she wants to be all her own - in she even funding it - without Johnny's interference, especially as she has not yet chosen her courses. She believes this education will be yet another major turning point in her life, especially by what she sees in the college's brochure. She will quickly learn how much the brochure will reflect the reality of her educational experience. Within this situation, the mother-to-be is having trouble telling the father-to-be of the pregnancy. Meanwhile, David and Patrick are having problems trying to find some place to have some truly alone time together, the motel not an option, and Patrick's room at Ray's not an option. Learning of their predicament, Stevie offers them her apartment. They will find that Stevie has ulterior motives in the offer, one of those motives, which they discover at the apartment, possibly affecting their night together.

Asbestos Fest, a fundraiser organized by Jocelyn to rid the town of its asbestos, has as its headlining act Moira, who plans to resurrect one of her old television routines for the show. Beyond the exasperation Jocelyn feels as Moira will not commit to any one of three routines by the day before the show, the show may not go on, at least not with Moira at all, because of a comment made to her by David which starts to work on her psyche. Meanwhile, Roland mentioning that he has "a guy" who would be perfect for motel work leads to Stevie admitting to Johnny that they really could use the help, especially as Johnny won't do any of the literal heavy lifting. In deciding to give Roland's guy a chance, Johnny and Stevie may come to regret their decision despite the background story of that guy. And David and Patrick are having a disagreement about the four teen boys constantly hanging out in front of the store. While Patrick believes they are scaring away legitimate customers, David thinks they add ambiance to the establishment, and are legitimate customers in that they do make purchases, even if it's a pack of gum at a time between the four of them. David's perspective may be tainted by the fact that they constantly compliment him on his fashion sense. Alexis, in the store to ask for Patrick's help with her school work, may have a clearer picture of what is happening with the four teens based on her own teen experience.

Episode 4
22 mins
In talking about Ted in front of Alexis and how romantic he seemed out with his girlfriend Heather, Moira learns just how little she knows of what is truly going on in Alexis' life. Learning how upset Alexis is about Ted, Moira tries to make it up to her daughter. In dealing with those emotions, Alexis decides to have a girls' night out with Twyla as her wingman. By the end of the night, Alexis may get a slightly different perspective of what she is going through with Ted. Meanwhile, Patrick and Stevie confront David about how uncompromising he is about most things in life. In pushing David's boundaries, Patrick may either break him, make him admit he is indeed uncompromising, or make him a more flexible person. And Roland says he wants to be a more invested employee at the motel. The things Roland wants to do to show that investment don't sit well with Johnny, who has to learn how to deal with who is effectively his employee, but one who is going through an unusual time with a middle aged pregnant wife at home.

Episode 5

News abounds on the Internet that Moira has passed away. Moira is happy that all her friends in Schitt's Creek are relieved that she is still alive and that the comments posted online about the news are complimentary about her life. But these good feelings that Moira has about her passing take a turn when a reporter shows up at the motel for a story. Moira doesn't know what's worse: that there is only one reporter, or that any reporter will see that she lives, in her own words, in a Podunk motel. Meanwhile, talk about death leads to Roland asking Johnny to be godfather to the baby. Johnny doesn't want the largely symbolic role which would signify a relationship with Roland closer than Johnny would like, but more specifically in the off chance that the role would actually mean greater responsibility for the baby if anything were to happen to Roland and Jocelyn. And Alexis decides to accompany David on a buying trip for the store, most specifically to see a farmer whose artisan goat cheese David wants to sell. It isn't until they are almost at their destination that both David and Alexis realize that said farmer, Heather Warner, is Ted's current girlfriend. Alexis and David have to decide what to do under the circumstance, which is made all the more complicated by Ted's presence at the farm with Heather.

Episode 6
22 mins
Rose Apothecary is doing poor business. Patrick comes up with a suggestion to boost business: hold an open mic night at the store, which will at least bring bodies into their establishment. David has a few very specific reasons in not wanting to implement Patrick's suggestion, the most important being something related to their personal relationship. Meanwhile, Alexis, for a class assignment, offers her services to her father and Stevie as a marketing consultant for the motel, Alexis' hope that it will become a paying job. Although both Johnny and Stevie are reluctant to even hear Alexis out, they cannot argue with some of her logic. Alexis finds that implementing her marketing plan is more difficult than she imagined, the biggest obstacle being some feelings that Stevie has about the aftermath of increased business to the motel. And Moira inadvertently learns of some information which she is asked to keep secret. Moira's ability to keep the secret, even in the inquisition by those who want to know, even surprises her, not so much that she is able to keep the secret but that that secret is hidden more effectively even from her.

Episode 7

A gift arriving at the motel via the front desk alerts Johnny, Moira, Alexis and Stevie to the fact that it is David and Patrick's four month anniversary, it being the longest relationship David has ever had. To celebrate, Johnny, on Roland having found an old grill on the motel property, wants to invite Patrick over for a barbecue. David not only has no intention of even asking Patrick, but wants Patrick to have nothing to do with his family. David's hesitance is in large part wanting to live within his own historic comfort zone of always consciously or unconsciously sabotaging his relationships in not being able to trust anyone. But Patrick does find out about the invitation, which he happily accepts. The barbecue doesn't end up the way Johnny or Patrick envision, the latter's expectation shattered with the arrival of an unexpected last minute invitee. Meanwhile, Alexis, not having heard from him in quite a while, receives a random text from Ted. With David unavailable, Alexis ends up turning to Rachel, a young guest at the motel, for advice about what the text means, Rachel who is going through her own seemingly never-ending cycle of love and heartbreak with someone she's known for quite a while.

Episode 8

For standing her up on a scheduled luncheon date earlier in the day, Johnny surprises Moira at a Jazzagals rehearsal, he who will take her out for drinks following the rehearsal. The other Jazzagals' reaction to Johnny being at their rehearsal leads to Moira wanting to have her cake and eat it too, at least as much as one in her circumstance in Schitt's Creek can eat. Meanwhile, Stevie tries to get David out of his funk concerning the awkward state of his and Patrick's relationship following the debacle that was the barbecue, by treating him to a spa resort trip. As she has done with Jake in the past, Stevie informed the resort that she and David were going to be on their honeymoon to get the freebies that usually go along with such information. Upon seeing what the resort has done for them, Stevie and David have to decide how far they will go with the ruse to receive all the freebies, especially in light of David's fragile state concerning love. And Alexis doesn't want to admit to anyone that she being on a dating app is not just research for Twyla. The one person that she has any desire to go out with on the app is Miguel. The question then becomes when Miguel asks to meet, whether she will indeed meet with him in light of the fact that he is the only other veterinarian in Schitt's Creek, and one who is in competition in every respect with Ted.

Episode 9
22 mins
It's been a week since David and Patrick have officially been on a break in their relationship, a week where Patrick has tried to extend olive branches in several different forms to say he's sorry, while David has remained silent to Patrick in return. In some respects, David has been a needy mess to others, such as to Stevie, while in reality he has been wanting to have his cake and eat it too in continually putting off reconciling with Patrick, which he truly wants. David may have miscalculated his actions where he may not have any cake to eat at all. Meanwhile, Alexis has graduated from the business program at Elmdale College, and wants to flex her business acumen on the world. Her first act in her new self-formed company is to apply for the town's arts and culture grant. Moira, as a town councilor who will be evaluating all the proposals, may have her own thoughts as to whether Alexis should get the grant, or someone else near and dear to her heart. And Johnny, in what is meant to be a measure of gratitude for being such a good partner, gives Stevie a gift which offends her sensibilities. After talking to Alexis about the gift, Stevie may have a practical way to show Johnny what the actual gift means in her life.

Episode 10

A ragged and haggard Jocelyn drops not so subtle hints that she'd like David to organize and throw her baby shower - tonight - on the last minute no-show of her sister who was supposed to do so. A reluctant David demonstrates how much he doesn't know about baby showers but does know what it takes to throw a fun party regardless of the occasion. Moira, with Johnny in tow, goes to a company specializing in singles events as research for Schitt's Creek's upcoming singles week. Ricki, the company manager, only allows them to observe the event she organized if they participate. Moira and Johnny have mixed emotions about them as individuals working a room full of lonely singles. And Klair, one of Alexis' vacuous friends from her previous life, passes through Schitt's Creek with no idea that Alexis was there. In their encounter, Klair offers Alexis an opportunity to get out of Schitt's Creek for good. In contemplating the offer, Alexis is reminded of her past and evaluates if that past is where she sees her future.

The rollout of the Rosebud Motel's marketing plan for its rebranding hits one snag when the specialized personal care products, such as moisturizer, that Johnny ordered through David's store is delayed solely because of David's tardiness. The rollout may hit another snag when it seems that the moisturizer is causing an allergic reaction as witnessed by the rash up and down Stevie's arm and on the side of David's face. The chain reaction problem is that the new batch of the product that David sells at the store is already half sold, meaning that lawsuits may abound by David's customers against the store, and David and Patrick against who is one of David's best vendors. Meanwhile, Alexis is working side by side with Ted on one of the events, a rescue puppy adoption, for singles week. Being next to Ted is making Alexis lose focus, her focus which may be blurrier by the return of a now single Mutt. And Moira and Jocelyn have both been summoned for potential jury duty. Jocelyn relishes the opportunity to be on a jury while Moira has no interest in being on a jury whatsoever, that is until she learns the nature of the case. Moira has to figure out a way not to perjure herself in trying to get on the jury, for which, if she was truthful, she would be ineligible.

Episode 12

It's the beginning of Schitt's Creek first annual singles week, and much is going on. The motel is filled even at premium rates for the event, with Johnny and Stevie sending Roland on errands due to the demand. Some supplies need to be delivered to Ted for the puppy adoption, with Alexis, in not wanting to face Ted again following her declaration of love to him, asking David to make the delivery on her behalf. And while Alexis has done most of the heavy lifting to get the event set up, Moira wants to take all the glory in making the opening keynote speech, in the process totally forgetting the one task she had in the set-up, namely to get the lock and keys from Jocelyn for the opening singles game at the Tropical. But Jocelyn places whatever plans are in place out the window when she goes into labor as soon as Moira arrives. With Moira needing to get Jocelyn to Elmdale Hospital, the other problem is that Roland is without his cell phone due to Johnny. As such, Johnny, Stevie and Bob go on a search for the father-to-be. And Moira is torn between heading back to the singles event in fear that Alexis won't be able to handle such responsibility on her own especially without the locks and keys, or stay at the hospital with Jocelyn until Roland arrives. Meanwhile, singles week is having an effect on Patrick, who feels the need to express his true feelings for David regardless of what the response from David will be.

On the night before Christmas Eve, Johnny has a dream about the lavish Christmas parties they used to host. Feeling now that their lives are back on track, Johnny wants to have one of those old fashioned Rose Christmas parties this year, which if it is to happen means planning, organizing and arranging everything in approximately twelve hours. He has to get Moira, David and Alexis on board, and delegate the tasks to get it done, which may not be the easiest thing. But as one hurdle after another arises, from Alexis misinterpreting what it means to be in charge of the guest list which she and Ted will not be on anyway as they have other plans already to spend with Ted's vet friends who Alexis has yet to meet, to Ray, who has the only Christmas tree lot in town, gouging his customers on this the day before Christmas, to David refusing to provide Christmas accouterments from the store preferring to sell such items to actual paying customers meaning that Johnny has to scrounge whatever old ornaments that Stevie's grandmother may have left at the motel, Johnny begins to have the feeling that this Christmas may not be like the Christmases from their past, which may not be a totally bad thing. But the true spirit of Christmas may eventually surface in Schitt's Creek at the Rosebud Motel.
