Their battle escalates to physical blows over who will take Joanna to the Seniors' Dance at the Max. Meanwhile, Lisa becomes smitten with a new student named Darren, not realizing that he is a freshman, while Mr. Belding tries to change his image by wearing a wig.

Will Zack put friendship and popularity before responsibility?

Meanwhile, Lisa alienates the dance committee, until Tori comes to her rescue, helping with the planning and, in the process, proving to the gang that she can be cool.

Things take another turn when Mr. Belding accidentally receives Screech's love letter to Lisa and assumes it is from nearsighted teacher Mrs. Culpepper.

So Mr. Belding decides to settle the conflict by having a sports competition between the boys' blue team and the girls' red team. But Zack resorts to unethical tactics when he sabotages the girls' oven during the bake-off contest, and when the girls find out, they plan their revenge, leading to an all-out war between the sexes.

At the dance, Kelly is pursued by student Matt Wilson, while Slater and Jessie end up locked in the boiler room.

However, he decides to concede it to Jessie in order to make her hopes of being valedictorian come true.
