This celebration revolves around the dramatic story of Queen Esther of Persia, who has been hiding her Jewish identity from the king. She works alongside her cousin Mordecai to save the Jewish people from a plot to kill them by Haman. The festival commemorates Jewish survival in ancient Persia and celebrates good triumphing over evil, with fancy dress, delicious food and drink, as well as foodie gifts for friends and family, Purim spiels and dramatic retellings of the Purim story. Ben Rebuck, food content creator extraordinaire, Bukharian Jewish chef Lilian Cordell, and Eran Tibi, a master of modern eastern Mediterranean cuisine, will serve up recipes fit for this feast. Special guests Elliot Levey, the double Olivier-winning star of Bookish and Giant, broadcaster and Crazy, Sexy Food podcaster Hannah Harley Young, and Countdown's Rachel Riley share their Purim memories and traditions.
