Dun Laoghaire

Andrew and Avril Wilson-Rankin met ten years ago and have been dreaming of owning their own home. They couldn't afford to buy a proper house as they were too expensive, so they went back to basics and bought a disused commercial warehouse in Dun Laoghaire which is as far from being a house as you could imagine. To save on rent money they moved into Andrew's parents' garden shed which gave them the funds to turn the warehouse into a two storey house. Can Dermot give their dream home within their EUR260,000 budget.

Kilternan

Daithi Elliffe and Jean Robinson have bought themselves a 19th century listed former Church of Ireland schoolhouse in Kilternan which they wish to turn into a dream 21st century with spectacular views of the Dublin mountains. It looks great on the outside but inside it's a mouldering dilapidated mess, and it also has damp and dry rot everywhere. Dermot has a huge project on his hands so what can he deliver on a budget of 360,000 Euros.

Baltinglass

Recently engaged Larry McGrath and Elaine O'Neill live in bungalow on a large dairy farm in Baltinglass, Wicklow. Dermot has been called in to blend the warmth of a traditional farmhouse with the flexibility of a modern urban design. It's a typical 1980s bungalow with narrow corridors and dark rooms and gets very little sunshine inside. Dermots plans to flip the layout around to take advantage of the sun and give the house a 21st century makeover.

Dermot visits Ann and Barry Higgins in Malahide in north County Dublin, who are part time carers of 12 year old wheelchair bound Michael. He helps redesign their home to assist with Michael's needs whenever he stays over from his usual residential home.

Mullingar

Sally-Ann and Trevor Flynn and their four children live in Sally-Ann's childhood home which she bought four years ago from her family - a huge, distinctive 1970s architect-designed home outside Mullingar in Westmeath that they've dreamed of renovating. The house is now outdated and cold, and Dermot's challenge is blending the old 70s chic with a modern insulated enlarged design. Can Dermot and his clients agree on enough of his plans to deliver their house of the future.

Portmarnock

Paul and Sabina Horgan have purchased a dilapidated two bedroom 1940s detached cottage by the sea in Portmarnock which has so much wrong with it Dermot doesn't know where to start, but the couple are sure it has potential. It's rotten, has mushrooms growing out of every corner, it's damp and part of the house is subsiding and as far as Dermot is concerned, everything that can go wrong structurally has gone wrong, and they've bought a wreck. Can he save their dream home on a budget of EUR 200,000.

Nenagh

Pat and Marita Harrold plan to move back into, and renovate and extend, the 3-bedroom bungalow where Pat grew up - a gloomy, cold, dark little 1950s house built by his dad and uncle, and currently occupied by Pat's 95-year-old widowed mother Mary. But with three generations of the family to accommodate, which includes the Harrold's children, Dermot Bannon has his work cut out to design a property to suit each generation needing their own personal space, but has some serious issues with Marita and her self appointed expert's feng shui building needs.

Dundrum

Leonard and Caroline Cullen live in house once owned by Leonard's grandparents in the south Dublin suburb of Dundrum - a 1960s three-bed semi detached that hasn't changed at all since the couple bought it. In the five years they've lived in the house its maze of tiny rooms and numerous doors the layout has remained unchanged. Caroline is due to have a baby in six months and hopes to have their house redesigned, including a loft conversion, in time for the new arrival, all on a budget of EUR 150,000.
