On the 27th of March 2009, 8 year old Sandra Cantu set off from her trailer in a park in Tracy California, to visit a friend, and never returned home. Almost immediately the FBI offer their help, providing a profile of a young white male, who may or may not know Sandra. After 10 days of searching, police are saddened to receive a call from a farmer who has discovered the little girl's body in a suitcase dumped in a pond on his land. Around the time of Sandra's disappearance Melissa Huckaby, a neighbour and the mother of one of Sandra's school friends, claims that a suitcase was stolen from outside her trailer. She even identifies the suitcase Sandra was thrown away in as hers when she sees it on the news. She also finds a strange note detailing the location of Sandra's body and claiming to be from a witness.
