Jack's neglected debts are about to see him and Declan evicted from the bar. Sensei Toshi Takeda scolds Emily an emotive fool, yet allows his disciple to com watch over her when she returns. Nolan is selling his beach-house, so he moves in until he acquires an even larger one. Examining her mother's fate, locked up in a mental institution, they find the conspiracy older and more elaborate then believed before, including staged prison suicides, and discover Victoria, presumed dead, now hiding to reappear as federal witness against Conrad.

Daniel clearly doubts both his parents, despite accepting to be reunited in the beach estate, but soon accepts Emily's advice to pretend trusting his mother so as to restore trust and try beating her at her own game. Posing as police detective and more, Takeda's other protégé Aiden Mathis, who failed to save his sister, has a hard time regaining ex-lover Emily's trust. With Nolan's help, they earned the white-haired killer is Gordon Murphy and works for the mysterious Initiative, which probably also plotted against Emily's mother, her new obsession. Rich neighbor Kenny Ryan lets Declan off easy after breaking in with a boisterous mate to steal from his sports memorabilia to save the bar. Jack even refuses to cash Charlotte's baby store gift voucher and dumps Amanda once he knows she lied to him. The Grayson press conference to explain Victoria's survival and rejoining the family becomes a show of strength despite their deep divisions, now even Charlotte hates her stepmother.

Nolan's devoted assistant Padma collects his late father's legacy, which proves surprisingly interesting. Aiden Mathis proves himself as ingrate Emily's guardian angel against the Initiative, which Conrad approaches, and by finding incriminating information on Emily's mother. The Porter brothers ignore that Declan's 'lenient' robbery victim Kenny Ryan is setting up a trap with the knave's bad news mate Trey Chandler. Emily forces Amanda to help trying to trick Victoria in an attempt to find out about their mother.

Daniel now trusts "Tanaka's investment deputy" Aiden more then father Conrad, who convinces Victoria to remarry so they can't testify against each-other. While Emily's mother Kara is the Graysons' guest, Emily works out she was in love with white killer Gordon Murphy and retrieves his corpse from morgue ice to set up Mason Tredwell so 'discover' it and lead the police to suspect and arrest Conrad. In order to avoid a murder sentence, he promises the Initiative representative a wild-card marker. Kenny Ryan tricks Jack into buying cheap, illicit alcohol for the re-opened bar. Declan and Charlote get back together. Nolan prays his father and hence firm's close ties with Emily's remain inconspicuous and still hopes Padma is genuinely on his side, not a Grayson spy. After Conrad's arrest, Daniel plans to take over the firm, counting on Aiden.

Aiden convinces a grudging Nolan to 'volunteer' proof of father Clark's founder's interest in NolCorp, positioning himself as the ideal lieutenant for Daniel to seize power in Grayson Global. The parents fear the Initiative will wipe them out now their agent Helen Crowley is in the picture, but Victoria decides to down only fighting to the last. Silent bar partner Kenny Ryan quietly brings in his brother Nate, who lusts for revenge on the Porter brothers' father. Amanda is ready to betray Emily to Mason, but they are overheard, so Nolan helps Emily set him up as apparent murderer of Kara's second husband, which should also enable getting Kara on board. Mason even accepts to do the time for the scoop when Emily will ultimately come clean.

A grim Christmas season is the starting point for reminiscing in six years flashbacks, to 2006. Daniel wanted to study literature at Harvard, but Conrad traps him back to preparing for his succession. Daniel now brings home his maternal grandmother Marion Harper, who presents her wealthy fiancé but instead of a reconciliation, Victoria dishes out the horror story of the previous alliance. Nolan lost his lover and CFO when Marco Romero discovered his costly obsession to help revenge Emily's father. The Porter brothers' alleged benefactor Kenny Ryan remembers how his father Joe was shot as collateral victim in a collector's rage at father Porter and his idiotic port mate. Takeda supervised Emily's first mission, against Russian mob white slavers, which made her ally and lover of Aiden, who wanted to revenge his sister, their victim.

Revelations

Daniel having announced he's going to bid for Grayson Global's board chairmanship, his parents fail to talk him out of it, fearing that will only unleash the Initiative on him. Brazilian key board member Salvador Grobet, who actually manages his wife's inheritance, prefers Daniel, but may be swayed by a picture of his adultery with Daniel's lover/PA Ashley, which is astutely send to Daniel in time to give him the leverage. Nolan was prepared to let Daniel and Aiden use 49% of NolCorp as leverage, but his ousted ex-lover/CFO Marco forces him by 'blackmail' over misappropriated company funds to sign over majority control. Daniel coldly tells Aiden the board will require stability, hence no seat for Aiden. The Ryan brothers spot their father's murderer Matt Duncan, whom they assume to be only father Porter's cahoot, at the baby's christening. They shoot him and affirm their hold over newly-terrified Jack.

Daniel succeeding Conrad as Grayson Global's CEO, his parents are desperate to prevent him becoming the next target of the Initiative, whose case agent Crowley already met to manipulate him by pointing at 'lucrative' secrets. Victoria offers an Alliance to Emily, promising to make her his bride again, while Nolan again turns down an offer from ex Marco who wants his CFO job back. The Ryan brothers set Declan up to be arrested with drugs they hid in a shipment of 'coffee beans', but Jack takes the blame and jail prospect.

Tipped off by the Initiative, Daniel orders Nolan to disclose all terminated projects. Not content to see Jack in jail, the Ryan brothers demand the Porters should sell them the bar for $1. Victoria and Emily stage a charity wine auction where Victoria's admirer and Conrad's old rival Jason Prosser is brought in to bid against Daniel, who still wins. Nolan declines a true partnership with Grayson-imposed CFO Marco and gratefully accepts Padma's offer to rejoin the firm without that rank, ignoring she's a spy. Helped by Emily, Aiden stages being kidnapped with Initiative agent Crowley and rescuing her.

She also fails to keep her promise to stop Daniel from winning the Stonehaven foundation bid against Jason Prosser, who bitterly blames formerly adored Victoria. For the sake of Charlotte, who shamefully 'repays' him by changing her name into Clark at her poorly-attended birthday party, Conrad helps the Porter boys get the bar back from the Ryan brothers after their father's real killer's confession and arrest. Nolan discovers that Padma must be an Initiative agent after she steals a program he wrote which can cut off power in Manhattan. The Initiative blackmails Aiden to sniper Victoria in exchange for his sister's life, but Emily talks him out of it, after which an apparently fatal OD is administered to hapless Colleen.

Jack takes Amanda and baby Carl honeymooning on the Porter yacht, but Nate Ryan - who made a deal with Conrad to get the pub back if he eliminates Amanda - hides aboard. Nolan and Emily find out and come to the rescue, but they're too late to save all.

Everybody sanctimoniously gathers for the funeral of Amanda, who died in the yacht's explosion after she climbed back on to retrieve a keepsake. The Grayson's generation rift is worsened as Daniel learns about the Initiative pickle he inherited, while his parents bicker how to coax Trask. Charlotte drifts farther away. Nolan risks his CFO position by holding back the secret software with apocalyptic potential even from Daniel. Jack recovers from his wounds and discovers Amanda's hidden evidence and thus her vindictive partnership with Emily, whom he now reviles.

Conrad and Victoria found a children charity in Amanda's name and appoint Aiden, Conrad's successor on the Grayson board, its treasurer. Daniel is appalled to hear it's a ploy to evacuate the family capital in case the Initiative ruins their investment firm and blame Aiden and ends up telling Emily. Jack mistrusts it until Nolan convinces him at Amanda's death was a result of the Ryan revenge but now sides with Conrad. Amanda's foster brother Eli, a major crook, turns up posing as a wealthy donor and, although Nolan works out the truth, scams $100,000 hush money out of 'Emily' to keep her identity switch secret but reneges on his promise to leave New England, focusing on Victoria.

Daniel confides in Emily that Aiden is being set up by his parents at scapegoat for the foundation scam. Just when Jack despairs about revenge for Amanda's death on Conrad and surviving Ryan brother Kenny, Declan arranges a meeting by stealing their cousin Trey Chandler's cellphone at his school and posing as him. When Padma shows proof that the Initiative has her father Zahir Lahari, Nolan and sharpshooter Aiden plan a relocation under secret identity after eliminating the kidnappers, but are outsmarted by Trask, who thus acquired the terribly dangerous Clarion program from Nolan, who fears their super-hacker Falcon may be even out of his league. The Amandas' foster brother Eli tricks the Graysons into making their and many other abused kids' hated foster mother Meredith Hayward the foundation's first beneficiary, supposedly to boost Canroad's senatorial campaign. In fact he exposes her publicly, leading to disclosure of secrets to Amanda, who learns crucial letters from her father ended up with Mason, who tells in prison her own arson of his home destroyed all.

Masquerade

The Graysons host a grand masquerade party. Aiden risk being fired by Daniel by deliberately ruining the Initiative investment, in order to force Trask to contact them. It enables Aiden to kidnap his sister's murderer, who must take him to Nolan's kidnapped lover Padma, but she was murdered a day earlier. Jack does a good job as Conrad's campaign manager for New York governor, but Emily and Nolan help him set up some exposure of the murder of her father. Emily also anonymously proves to Victoria that the other son she pretended to have aborted but got adopted trough a nunnery is not a complete secret, and makes Conrad seriously doubt his wife's claim there is no hidden child, in fact her lush mother's lover's rape fruit.

Identity

Aiden agrees that Emimy's best shot at ruining the Graysons is sharing unsuspecting Daniel's bed as his bride. Victoria hopes to appease Conrad about her secret puberty pregnancy by proof of abortion, but Nolan accepts to take on the only better hacker, the Falcon, who helped former employer Victoria and the Initiative, hence shares blame for Padma's murder, finds out it's a girl by gaming dare and sets a trap so the FBI can finally lock her up. Jack dumps Emily as Carl's godmother, Declan is shocked that Charlotte prefers partying over promised help with his crucial Ivy league application essay.

The Grayson Global HQ has been destroyed by a bomb. Conrad stays in control and looks even better as candidate Governor. Nolan is ignored when he urges Aiden to flee before he's set up as the perpetrator, and Jack refuses to put safety over revenge. Declan, who looked forward to raising a baby with Charlotte, is the only one who actually dies from his wounds. Jack now thinks only of revenge, so Emily stops him and discloses to him that she switched identities with Amanda. Even Victoria is stunned to hear from elected Conrad how despicable he really is - there really was no Initiative, just corporate greed preying on the susceptibility of the public after terror attacks. The FBI arrests both Nolan and Aiden.
