Garda superintendent James McKay cedes the investigation when young Darren Kiely is killed in the seaside resort of Red Rock since CCTV caught Darren fighting with Michael Hennessy, whose sister, solicitor Claire, is James' wife. Michael's mother, over-bearing bar owner Patricia, sacks Darren's sister Katie, unaware that her son David is having an affair with her whilst Bridget Kiely, estranged from her family, returns to the town and her husband Vincent, Katie and her son Keith vowing revenge. Meanwhile Garda officer Sharon Cleere confides in colleague Paudge that she saw married sergeant Brian McGonigle kissing an apparently under age girl but, on his advice, keeps the news from James.

Meanwhile Niamh Reid, whose father Liam, is an old flame of Patricia's, and who is the witness who saw Michael prior to his fight with Darren Kiely, is preparing to open the café she and Liam are leasing from Patricia.

Eventually Michael admits that he knew David was stealing money to give to Darren, who was blackmailing him for still seeing Katie and that his efforts to confront Darren led to the fatal encounter.

However they are interrupted by an international debt collector who tells them that Bridget left Spain to return to Red Rock as she owed thousands of euros.

Angela learns from son Conor that her husband Tommy is seeing another woman but urges him to give their marriage another try whilst Katie accuses Bridget of returning home only to escape her debts and is unconvinced when her mother tells her she was paid money by an old man she nursed whose family now want the cash.

Angela is frustrated when Conor says that he wants to quit university whilst Bridget and Keith go into business selling cheap cigarettes.

Michael is not happy when Claire tells him the maximum sentence he could face.

Liam demands a formal enquiry from James but on returning home finds that Rachel has run away.

Brian's daughter Mel tells the Garda that a man known as Fat Barry used to buy the girls alcohol and when she last saw Rachel she was with him.

Rachel Reid is still missing and things are taking a toll on her sister Niamh and Dad Liam. In a bid to broaden their hunt for the missing schoolgirl, Detective Sergeant Nikki Grogan and Sergeant Angela Tyrell help the Reids prepare a television appeal. Despite agreeing to do the television appeal, Liam is finding it particularly tough as he tries to put everything into words. Seeing Liam on the brink, Niamh calls in Patricia Hennessy as some welcome support for her dad. Patricia tries to gently talk some sense into Liam, encouraging him not to let Niamh do the appeal on her own. Paudge is feeling the pressure when he receives an unwelcome phone call. He tells an inquisitive Sharon that it's just a builder looking for payment and would be sorted once the rent starts flowing on the property, but is there more to the story than Paudge is letting on? Meanwhile, Sharon is still getting a nasty reception at work and when a dead rat is placed in her locker, Paudge tries his best to support her. As Liam and Niamh finally make the appeal, it's not just the public who see it - Rachel is watching it too. Will her family's emotional plea be a turning point for the troubled teen?

Meanwhile Conor stages a burglary at his house to get the money to pay off his drug dealer.

In the caravan Brian ignores Rachel's lifeless body whilst attempting to remove all traces of his having been there but he is cornered as Sharon and Paudge close in and Sharon arrests him.

Meanwhile Ollie Coyne is causing trouble for Paudge, not helped when Claire successfully defends Ollie against Paudge's accusations.

Patricia puts pressure on David to accompany Katie to England and ensure that the abortion goes ahead but when he arrives at the airport he finds that Vincent and Bridget are still trying to persuade Katie to keep her baby. Tim Moran rips all the wiring out of Paudge's property and a desperate Paudger arrives to find petty crook Ollie Coyne vandalizing the place. Paudge hits on an idea to claim insurance and blame Ollie, unaware that he is secretly being filmed whilst Adrijan and Sean agree to make up after Sean has been dumped by Nikki but whilst they are out on an investigation Adrijan is the victim of a hit and run driver.

Sharon and Sean arrest a confused old man who has viciously attacked an intruder, only to find that the case is more complicated than they thought and Katie gets the result of her scan, showing that she has a son - with a heart defect.

Paudge, however, begins to re-evaluate his arrangement with Burke and, appreciating that it will be disastrous for him if he is caught, demands money for his information. A man arrested for indecent exposure blames stage hypnotist Andrew Prest but Prest helps the police to prove that he was lying whilst Sean bets Adrijan that he can get a date with Niamh and Angela worries about her upcoming interview as part of her inspectors' exam which Nikki is also taking.

The Kielys next door neighbour complains that they are harassing him whilst Nikki and Angela have their promotion interviews.

It's Halloween and Angela and Sharon must deal with the ghouls and goblins of St. Columba's flats on a call out. They find themselves the targets of masked local youths, who throw bottles and cans as they try to make their way to a woman who has fallen and trapped in her flat. When they break into the flat, they find Jo Black, not only with a broken ankle but also eight months pregnant and going into labour. Are Angela and Sharon prepared to deliver a baby? Beady isn't the only Burke on the Guards' radar, when Sean nabs Beady's niece Aoife dealing on the Ridge. Following his tip off of The Goat raid, Paudge has proved himself as Beady's go to man on the inside and the pressure is on for him to secure Aoife's freedom. It's no surprise when the drugs confiscated at the scene suddenly go missing and there's only one person left to blame. Will Paudge be number one on McKay's list of suspects? Meanwhile, a scared and fragile victim of attempted rape, Sarah O'Connor, arrives at Red Rock Garda station. Reluctant to speak at first, Sarah is hesitant to tell Sean what happened to her. Nikki steps in to deal with this sensitive case and assures Sarah that she's in a safe place tell her story.

Angela and Sharon are still in a panic at St. Columba's flats. There's no sign of an ambulance and the baby fast is fast approaching. A confident Sharon takes charge and assures scared mum-to-be Jo, that she'll deliver the baby. The two women help an exhausted Jo give birth to a baby girl, but the baby turns blue and unresponsive. Can they also save the newborn's life? Back at the station, Nikki is frantic as the drugs confiscated from Aoife Burke have gone missing on her watch. With no evidence in sight a smug Aoife can walk free, to both Paudge and Beady's relief. McKay is determined to find out who took the drugs - Beady hardly strolled into the station and took them himself? An unsuspecting Adrijan becomes McKay's prime suspect. Adrijan was the last person left alone with the drugs and is now conveniently missing himself. Will Adrijan resurface in time to prove his innocence? Sarah O'Connor returns to the station but there is a chance Nikki may not have enough evidence to catch her attacker. Sarah looses her nerve, is the case even worth pursuing if there's a chance the suspect will get away with it?

Pressure is on Adrijan to provide an alibi for his suspicious absence. Crucial evidence has gone missing and McKay won't back down until Adrijan explains his on duty disappearance. Adrijan couldn't have picked a worse time to rendez-vous with his love interest Joan Curry. Worse still admitting to sneaking off to sleep with the widow of a man who died in his custody could leave Adrijan on the firing blocks. Under pressure Adrijan confesses to McKay that he was with a married woman and McKay insists she turn up to the station. Left with no other option and the prospect of loosing his job Adrijan can only lie. In desperation Adrijan appeals to Joan to help him, perhaps she can persuade one of her married friends to say she was with him? Meanwhile, a local petrol station's been robbed and there's only one identifiable suspect - Davey Webb. Following his stabbing, Davey is supposed to be on the straight and narrow but with threats to his family there seems to be no escaping a life of crime. Claire steps in to defend Davey, she knows he's a good kid and confides in McKay that Davey doesn't deserve to be arrested. Nikki, on the other hand, has racked up enough evidence against Davey to have him charged. McKay saved Davey's life and now feels responsible for his future, could he really forgive himself if he put him behind bars? Could an old flame put a dampener on Sean and Niamh's new romance? Niamh's jealous streak comes to light when she discovers Sean's past relationship with Nikki. Sean only makes things worse when he explains that it was purely physical. Niamh suspects Nikki may still have feelings for Sean and her fears might be realised when Nikki fails to pass on an urgent message Niamh has for Sean.

The Gardaí can't keep Davey locked up and Grainne insists Davey was with her the day of the petrol station robbery. Acting on a personal grudge against the Gardaí and fear of Laser's thugs, Grainne demands Davey stop talking to them. Nikki has built a tight case against Davey, he's already on a suspended sentence and with the CCTV footage, there's enough to charge him. McKay, on the other hand, is having doubts about pushing forward. McKay knows Davey is the product of bad circumstance - he is trying to do well in college and is seemingly pressured into a criminal lifestyle. Davey deserves more of a future than a jail cell and McKay is determined to help him. McKay can have Davey released if he agrees to become an informant. McKay assures Davey he will be protected and there's the added chance of bringing down the thugs threatening his family. Adrijan realises he has angered the wrong woman when Joan Curry appears at the station to provide his alibi. Adrijan has hit a nerve with Joan, asking her to find a married friend to lie for him. Turns out Adrijan cares more about his career than their relationship and Joan isn't going to let him away with insulting her lightly. Joan hangs Adrijan out to dry with McKay, letting him know he was sleeping with her when the evidence needed to convict Aoife Burke went missing. Sharon is beaming after herself and Paudge receive certificates of commendation for their work in the arrest of Brian McGonagle. Paudge is unusually modest, working with Beady has tainted any feeling of pride he might have once had. Beady has avoided two raids and his niece has dodged a drugs charge, all with his help. Beady's good fortunes have not gone unnoticed by McKay and Nikki. There's clearly a leak in the station and their eyes are on one person in particular...

The pair can't seem to keep their hands off each other to the dismay of Patricia, who is less than impressed when Siobhan tags along to the Hennessy family lunch. Siobhan's not afraid to speak her mind and can't help but rub Patricia up the wrong way. However, Patricia won't have to worry about her son's love life too much longer when Siobhan reveals she's off on her travels again. It's been several months since the pair met and a lot has changed in that time, including Katie's baby bump. Undeterred, the suave Rory asks Katie out on a date. The station is buzzing with the news of a new detective joining the ranks. Sean's excited to have more men on the team but is soon disappointed when the handsome Detective Garda Rory Walsh strolls in. Is Sean about to be knocked off his podium as Red Rock's resident hunk? Red Rock Garda Station receives a clean bill of health from the Bureau who confirm that there is no evidence of a mole. Paudge was the focus of much of the interviews but to his relief he is no longer under suspicion. Detective Inspector Kelly assures McKay that they can't see any of his guards having a criminal link on the Ridge. McKay can rest easy, he has a good team behind him and there is nothing to be worried about. Little does McKay know he was right to be over cautious, Paudge was the leak and he's just gotten away with it.

A taxi robbery has gone horribly wrong and the guards are called out to the scene. A young, dark haired man, with track marks down his arms and no ID has been fatally injured. It dawns on Angela that her son Conor fits the description and she can't help but fear the worst when Conor doesn't answer her call and is a no show at work. Angela frantically runs to the accident, arriving just as the paramedics pull a blanket over the body. All stops still - Angela feels as though her world is about to crash down around her until she realises it isn't Conor's body but rather that of his childhood friend Daniel Dooley. A wave of relief hits Angela who returns to The Neptune to find Conor safe and sound. Conor is devastated when he hears of Dooley's death. He had only seen him hours before when Dooley begged him for money for a hit. Conor refused, he's only clean himself and didn't want to be associated with his junkie friend. Now he feels responsible - if only he had given Dooley the cash, he would still be alive. Conor is completely broken up about the situation and seeks comfort in Rachel at the Pipes. Rachel has the vulnerable Conor right where she wants him - will she take this moment to make a move on him? Back at the station Paudge and Rory investigate the taxi robbery. Taxi driver Victor Buhari explains that Dooley attempted to rob his moneybox and fell out of the car during the altercation, hitting his head. Victor tried to give CPR but there was no saving him. Paudge believes Victor but Rory thinks he is hiding something and they won't know what really happened until they see the CCTV footage. Later at The Neptune, Rory seizes the opportunity to have a date with Katie. He arrives at closing time, Chinese take away in hand and persuades Katie to sit down with him. Detective Rory is curious about Katie's family - will he be scared off by the Kiely's criminal past?

CHIS (Covert Human Intelligence Sources) have turned down McKay's request to have Davey Webb as a confidential informant - he's too young, too scared and too eager to please. McKay has no other option but to charge Davey for the petrol station robbery, Nikki will be suspicious if he doesn't. McKay delivers the bad news to Davey who is already on edge with Laser Byrne breathing down his neck again. Davey's given McKay a list of names - if Laser finds out he's been working with McKay, it'll be more than a stab wound he'll get this time. Davey demands a deal with the Superintendent who agrees to bring him on as an informant off the books. Davey's information could be McKay's one chance to break the drug trade on the Ridge. CCTV footage is back from the taxi robbery incident and it appears that taxi driver Victor has been telling this truth. Rory is still suspicious of Victor's jumpy behaviour at the scene and it transpires that he's been living in the country illegally. Paudge tracks down Victor, who he finds also working in St. Helen's Hospital. Victor explains that his visa only expired a month ago and he's been living in his taxi. Will a sympathetic Paudge turn a blind eye?

He dispatches his officers to pick up Laser's van before Davey gets there but there's nothing illegal to be found. McKay may have cleared Davey this time but his unpredictable behaviour has Nikki and Rory doubting his leadership. Love is in the air as Tommy and Angela attempt to reignite the spark in their marriage. It's been a tough few months for the pair who have been rocked by Tommy's infidelity and their son's heroin addiction. However, all would seem to be back on track in their lives and Tommy suggests they have a date night. Angela is suspicious but for once Tommy has no ulterior motives other than treating his loving wife. Sean suggests they wait for a negotiator but an agitated Adrijan provokes the Joanna and claims she can hardly look after herself, never mind a kid. Joanna jumps from the railings to towards him. Adrijan's erratic behaviour has not gone unnoticed by Sean who confronts him in the hospital. Sean's furious - Adrijan's sudden outburst at Joanna could have led her to jump! The best friends come to blows in the hospital and they come crashing through a patient's room in a tussle. Sean subdues the agitated Adrijan and forces him to see the doctor. There's something up with Adrijan - has the hit and run left a lasting effect? A rattled McKay launches a second sting on Laser Byrne. He's determined this plan will be a success and guarantees Nikki that they'll catch him with counterfeit goods. Nikki is left with serious concerns over McKay's judgement when they catch Laser with an empty van yet again. Davey's cover has been blown with Laser who realises he's been passing on gang information to McKay. A shellshocked Davey turns up at Claire's office covered in blood... What has Laser done now? Their only hope is to write a victim impact statement to make sure the judge understands how Darren's death has affected them. Preoccupied by the bad news Vinnie ignores calls from his boss. A decision he's later left regretting when he arrives at work to find he's been replaced. Vinnie's first honest job and he's already lost it!
