Being afraid of not being able to handle life on their own, Van and Cheyenne want to move back in with Reba, but she wouldn't let them. Meanwhile, Reba tells Barbara Jean that her fixation on her career progress is just as selfish as Brock has been before. Brock also understands his prior selfishness and finally starts to support BJ in any way he can, even when he learns that BJ might have to move away to take a better job. Reba tells BJ that she is her best friend and BJ decides not to move away after all.

Realizing they may not be ready for such a big responsibility, they ask Reba if they can stay with her, but she surprises everyone by turning them down. Barbra Jean seriously considers accepting a job offer from a station in Arkansas, so it's left to Reba to get her to turn down the offer and stay with her family where she belongs.
