80 Episodes 1982 - 1982
Episode 1
Jim and Meg escape just as the rioting women take control of the prison but Steve and Janet are trapped inside. The inmates bicker amongst themselves - Marie stirs everyone up, Margo mouths off and Sandy tries to keep control of the situation. Outside the jail, Erica won't allow the police to storm the building, to Jim's disgust. Steve manages to get to a phone and tell the police they are still inside but he ends up having to hide up in the roof from the prisoners. The women give Erica their list of demands. In hospital, Bea hears of the riot on TV and phones the prison to speak to Erica, but Ted Douglas won't let her. The marauding women finally track down Steve, separated from Janet, in the Governor's office. On Sandy's orders, they pin him to Erica's desk and start to strip him.

Episode 2
The almost-naked Steve is locked up in a cell. Janet finds him, but he tells her to leave him there and find a way out. Bea phones the prison again and gets to speak to Erica this time. She agrees to let Bea talk to the women. Kate is sent out to speak to Bea, with Colleen sent into the prison in her place temporarily as a trade. Lizzie is sent outside with the women's latest list of demands, only to be grabbed by the cops and taken away for her trial. The police prepare to send Jim in, commando-style, through the roof after dark to find Steve and Janet. The women read Janet's file and learn she is an ex-prisoner. They manage to catch Janet, strip her and dress her in an old prisoner's uniform. The police blackout the jail: Jim scales the wall and finds Steve and Janet safe. He radios the police to tell them, but the women stumble upon him. As they give chase, the riot squad lob tear gas into reception and storm the prison.

Episode 3
Sandy tries to seduce Steve, but they are distracted by all the commotion and he overpowers her. He finds Jim and they manage to regain control of the situation. Cops swarm into the prison. When they find Janet, they assume she is an inmate and knock her out. Marie tries to escape dressed as an officer but is caught by Erica. In the aftermath of the riot, Kate lets Sandy know the women think it was a waste of time. Sandy is sent to solitary and security measures are increased. Jim applies for another job. Marie seizes control as Top Dog and takes over Sandy's laundry racket, asking Fitzwater to pay them in drugs rather than money. At Lizzie's trial, Colleen testifies against her but is demolished by the defence. Gordon Humphrey admits he wanted to demolish the house and have the land rezoned, prompting an outburst from Lizzie, who is ultimately acquitted of the arson charges.
Episode 4
Lizzie enjoys her freedom while tensions between the staff and the department reach boiling point.
Episode 5
The staff agree to strike with tensions reaching crisis point between the department and the prison. Lizzie falls for a conman.
Episode 6
Janet thinks that Meg is having an affair with Jim and accuses her of betrayal. Sandy makes moves to consolidate her romantic meeting with Steve.
Episode 7
The women suspect that Bea and Sandy have set Marie up, but there is no proof. Meg learns that the Board is due to review Lizzie's parole following her arrest for non-payment of bills.
Episode 8
Judy's parole hearing is finally here as Sandy gets threats against her. While Jim tells Meg that things between him and Janet are over.
Episode 9
Judy is out of Wentworth and embarks on a new life on the outside. In her loneliness, Doreen attempts to befriend the guard dogs.
Episode 10
Erica announces to Jim his promotion and transfer to a youth remand centre. Jock Stewart finds out where Judy is and that her daughter has married into money.
Episode 11
The dog handler is concerned when the dogs appear to have lost their appetite. On exercise period Marie causes considerable distress by throwing Doreen's teddy bear to the dogs.
Episode 12
Ian apologises to Meg for embarrassing her in front of the women. Judy visits Doreen in Wentworth and asks her to find out from Sandy where she can get a gun.
Episode 13
Doreen's escape is ruined. Ian and Meg have a drink and Meg makes it very clear to him that she is not interested in him at any level, except as a colleague.
Episode 14
Competition intensifies between Meg and Colleen Powell. A 16-year-old is inducted into Wentworth, where she is bewildered by her new surroundings. A murder is being plotted.
Episode 15
Meg puts her marriage before promotion to Deputy Governor. The Department investigates possible fraud in the kitchen and Bea begins to suspect Kate.
Episode 16
Sandy tells Susie that she's only making it worse for herself by trying to escape, but agrees to help her if she can come up with a "safe" way to do it. The police arrive to question Judy, having found the wallet that incriminates her.
Episode 17
Kate learns the truth about her witness. Susie plans her escape.
Episode 18
Sandy and Marie are in dispute about who will deal the death blow to Kate. Janet finds herself attracted to Ian Mahoney.
Episode 19
Suspicions grow when Sandy is found to be missing. Hazel breaks down when she hears that her husband is applying for custody of their children.
Episode 20
Marie realises how Kate got rid of Sandy, and Hazel realises what her chances are of stopping George's custody application.
Episode 21
Marie starts throwing her weight around, and Susie begins her escape attempt.
Episode 22
Ian tells Janet he's not pressing her, while Judy is baffled by an apparent alliance between Bea and Marie.
Episode 23
Kate's in for a surprise as two characters receive a transfer.
Episode 24
Bea and the other women are puzzled by the disappearance of Marie and Kate. Janet and Ian's affair becomes increasingly obvious.
Episode 25
Susie flees into the woods to escape a rapist. The women of Wentworth start work on their prison paper.
Episode 26
Meg agrees to act as matron-of-honour at Janet and Ian's wedding, and Helen returns to Wentworth on a prostitution charge. There is an attack on Judy's life.
Episode 27
Kate is finally taken to an asylum, and Susie insists that one of the new prisoners is her mother.
Episode 28
Susie longs to be with the new prisoner who she thinks is her mother, and an outrageous birthday surprise is organised for Bea.
Episode 29
Bea suspects that her birthday has been forgotten, and Joanne tries to persuade Susie as gently as possible that she is not her mother.
Episode 30
Jennifer Powell is taken to the bank robbers' hideout. Erica Davidson takes a lenient view of Bea's birthday celebrations.
Episode 31
A mystery prisoner arrives at Wentworth. Doug Lewis plans to kill Jennifer, and even Mel if necessary.
Episode 32
Carol discovers that Doug has attacked Jenny, and Erica is under pressure to keep the mystery prisoner out of the other women's way.
Episode 33
After killing Doug, Carol urges Mel to flee with Jenny. Helen is re-arrested as soon as she leaves the prison.
Episode 34
The woman who abducted Colleen's daughter arrives at Wentworth. Bea gets all the details from Helen about her business deal with Harry Stanfield.
Episode 35
Jackie is under pressure to admit she put Judy in prison. Colleen finds it hard to hide her feelings towards Carol.

Judy blasts Doreen and Margo for ruining her chances of release by bashing Jackie. Matt closes in on Harry as the man who framed Helen Smart.

When Erica sends Jackie's confession to the police, the prospects look brighter for Judy's appeal. Bea tries to persuade Steve to help her smuggle Helen's letter to the press.

Doreen decides to hide the spirits in the fire extinguishers. Lizzie's plans for Susie's farewell are scuppered by Colleen.

When Doreen's bright idea starts a fire, Bea rescues Steve. Chrissie falls out with her sister-in-law and finds her dole fiddle on shaky ground.

Chrissie plans to flee, but Brenda has other ideas.

When Lizzie notices the friendship between Meg and Steve, the rumours start flying. On her release, Susie goes to a hostel but finds the regime stifling. A new prison officer arrives.

Susie starts her new life working in a pizza house. Chrissie discovers that Brenda is trying to get custody of her child.

Bea's latest article is published, and the editor offers her a regular column. Susie's social life gets her into hot water in the hostel.

Hannah makes an escape bid with the help of two gunmen. Susie's birthday brightens up when a parcel arrives from Wentworth.

Susie loses her job and her home. Joan agrees to appear in court for Brenda and support her claim for custody of Chrissie's daughter.

Wally is concerned about the letter Judy has brought out for Hannah. Meg is worried that Susie will blow her parole.

Susie shows her naivety over Donna's relationship with Des. Bea decides to fight back against Joan - with or without Hannah's help.

Donna tempts Susie with some pills. Chrissie is getting orders from both Joan and Bea.

Des assures Susie that he's taking good care of Donna. Joan bribes Lizzie with some grog. When Duncan recognises Chrissie he wants to kill her.

Susie is forced back into prostitution. Chrissie learns that Joan has agreed to help Brenda in the custody case.
Episode 51
Donna is suffering severe withdrawal symptoms from her heroin addiction. The women learn of the horrific injuries inflicted on Chrissie by Joan.
Episode 52
Des thinks he has Susie just where he wants her. Maxine starts making life difficult for Joan.
Episode 53
Maxine is suspected of having a deal with Joan. Susie is worried about her future. Joan neglects to inform Doreen of her imminent release.
Episode 54
Hannah is offered a bribe to forego mentioning the name of Ludlow at her forthcoming hearing. Doreen is suspicious of Gloria, and finds a revolver in her belongings.
Episode 55
Gloria gives Doreen a plausible excuse for having a gun. The women decide to take a united but passive stand against Joan and Judy finds Donna having a fix.
Episode 56
The women, ill-equipped to endure a sit-in without food and shelter, are determined to maintain their position. Barbara attempts to comfort Doreen over her sacking. Judy decides that Susie needs a break.
Episode 57
Hannah is returned, but there is a suggestion that she should be transferred to Barnhurst. Meanwhile Donna attempts to smuggle dope.
Episode 58
A new inmate makes a violent entrance when she flattens the 'Freak' on her first day; and Lizzie is on a big 'downer' about the rest of the women breaking their sit-in.
Episode 59
Maxine is contrite and determines to repay Judy for the damage caused to the Halfway House by her friends.
Episode 60
Steve's romantic attachment for Barbara grows and Judy learns from Tony that Maxine has been dealing in stolen goods.
Episode 61
Lizzie pretends to be a sick old woman at her parole hearing. Maxine is brought back to the Halfway House by police, and Penny Seymour is brought into Wentworth on a prostitution charge.
Episode 62
Margo is eventually tracked down to one of her old haunts, and upon her return, a surprise inmate makes her smile. Chrissie talks to Neil about her childhood, and Spud tries to blackmail Maxine into helping him pull a job before she goes to court.
Episode 63
The women are suspicious when Meg is imprisoned, but she refuses Erica's offer of spending her three-day sentence in isolation. Margo plans to have her beaten up.
Episode 64
Chrissie is questioned about Penny's murder, and Meg is released. Bea and Chrissie give Margo a home- made tar and feathering.
Episode 65
Meg suggests a plan to unmask Joan; Steve offers Bea parole help on certain conditions.
Episode 66
Joan decides to blackmail Barbara after discovering her secret papers, and the police arrive at the halfway house to question Tony.
Episode 67
Joan threatens to reveal Chrissie's affair with Neil. And Tony's efforts to help people only seem to be making him unpopular.
Episode 68
Margo releases Paddy and receives a severe beating, and Bea reveals full details of Joan's trap to Lizzie.
Episode 69
Erica is stunned with the news about officer corruption, and Bea gets a rare taste of freedom.

Sally flips, and Chrissie returns to prison.

Tony and Judy prepare for the official opening of the Halfway House and the women prepare for the concert auditions.

The concert party meets its male counterpart and Sally learns that Peter has started divorce proceedings.

Sally becomes depressed after news of the divorce. Chrissie sees someone she really does not want to.
Episode 74
Cookie learns the truth about the parentage of Kerry's baby and Joan's dog is killed.
Episode 75
Kerry decides to have the baby and put it up for adoption. Cookie and Kerry walk out on Errol and go to live with Cookie's sister. Margo muscles in on a Woodridge inmate's escape attempt. The Woodridge Governor catches Paddy and Andy in a private liaison and orders Paddy be taken off the concert project. Phillip gets Joan's papers from the thug who broke into her house and finds Joan's diaries among the haul: he visits Barbara and hands the diaries over to her. A furious Joan arrives at work and takes her anger out on Barbara. Joan tells Meg about the burglary and the death of her dog. Bea is laid off from work. The escape bid goes wrong when Lizzie gets in the way and tries to stop Margo - Joan arrives and knocks her roughly to the ground. Geoff begs Joan not to sound the alarm and ruin the concert, but she does it anyway. Lizzie is found lying unconscious on the floor.
Episode 76
Margo's escape attempt is thwarted when she is stopped by armed guards. The concert is halted and cancelled by Erica and Ted Douglas. Lizzie is rushed to hospital. Margo is brought back to Wentworth and put into solitary. The doctor tells Meg that Lizzie has severe internal bruising from the fall. Barbara hides Joan's diaries in a filing cabinet in Erica's office. Andy's sister Kathy comes to visit Paddy. Bea blames Margo for what happened to Lizzie. Joan realises that Barbara has her diaries and accuses her of killing her dog. Bea tries to find work and makes a phone call about a hairdressing job. Tony agrees to let Maxine move in with him, to ease the overcrowding at the halfway house. The hairdressing salon call Wentworth to ask Erica for a reference, but the call is intercepted by Joan, who informs them of Bea's murder convictions and reads her record out to them.
Episode 77
'Tony tells Maxine he isn't interested in her in a romantic way. Meg realises Joan has sabotaged Bea's job application, which Joan admits to the Governor at a staff meeting, and later to Bea as well. Joan steals papers from Erica's office and plants them in Barbara's cell, which Colleen finds. Bea is suspicious Joan took so much trouble to frame Barbara and wants to know what she has on her. On the night shift, Joan lurks about causing trouble. She threatens Barbara and ends up performing a body search on Paddy to get a note slipped to her by Andy Hudson's sister. Margo and Chrissie plan to attack the Freak. After the incident with Joan, Paddy agrees to take part. They black out the lights on the solitary staircase and get Mouse to lure Joan there, where she is attacked by five baseball-bat-wielding women wearing masks.
Episode 78
Joan fights back and manages to get away from her attackers. Bea worries that she will be blamed for the attack and lose her parole. Maxine is annoyed by Melissa's presence at the halfway house. Joan needles Bea, eager to get her to blow her chances of parole. Paddy stops her when she eventually snaps and tries to hit her; Joan vows to charge her anyway, but Colleen makes it clear she won't support her. Sara Hamilton, a young woman on a drugs charge, arrives at the halfway house. Tony suspects her boyfriend, Alan, is also her supplier. Erica offers to place Bea in isolation to keep her out of Joan's way. Melissa tells Maxine she's trying to get Tony to leave the halfway house and go to Sydney to live with her. As Bea goes to isolation, Paddy promises to tell her of any change in Lizzie's condition. Later that night, a note is slipped under the gate leading to isolation which reads "Bea - Lizzie Dead - Paddy".
Episode 79
Joan fools the women into thinking that Lizzie is dead and they stage a protest, even Bea joins in from isolation. Her parole board hearing is postponed. Colleen tells the inmates that Lizzie is not dead after all. Bea realises the note was a fake and Joan was behind it. Tony gets drunk and falls into bed with Maxine after Melissa walks out on him. Barbara is sent to isolation after Chrissie and Margo rough her up to find out what she has on the Freak. Bea faces the parole board. Sara and Alan fight with his father when he turns up at the halfway house. Barbara tells Bea she has Joan's diaries. Alan suggests to Sara they take an overdose. A gang of inmates, led by Chrissie and Margo, trash Barbara's cell. Judy finds Alan and Sara unconscious. The parole board tell Bea they are impressed but want her to keep out of trouble until they review her case again in six months.
Episode 80
Her chance of parole gone, Bea plots to get back at Joan. At the halfway house, Alan is dead but Sara has survived. Bea gets Barbara to tell Joan the diaries are hidden in isolation. Chrissie starts a fire in the library to distract the screws. Unknown to everyone, Margo chucks a Molotov cocktail into a store cupboard full of turps. Bea attacks Joan in isolation as Wentworth burns beneath them. Barbara tries to get her diaries from Erica's office but is overcome by smoke. Paddy climbs through the air conditioning to get out. Mouse is engulfed in a ball of flame when the turps explode. Erica runs back in to the burning building to open the locked security gates. Joan and Bea are trapped on opposite sides of a security gate - and Bea has the keys. Bea refuses to unlock the gate, saying she's ready to die - and Joan's going to die there with her.
