Hazen needs the skills learned among the Yimas tribe in the northern jungle of Papua New Guinea an solo expedition from their village to that of a neighboring clan, former enemies and cannibals, over the rough river to their lake. He must steer the hand-cut single tree-canoe standing with one foot on an edge, in the scorching sun. He makes a fire painstakingly and builds a camp to stand a nocturnal drench, constantly visited by creepers, but his drifting funnel catches only one fish, his wild pig trap didn't snap in time. He needs a warrior-worthy gift for the chief to be safely welcomed, but fails to find a crocodile egg and the crocodile hunters party his joins doesn't catch a 'salty', the top predator, but he gets the local, larger piranha-cousin.

Hazen makes best use of the various skills he learned from the Embera tribe in Darien, the narrow part of Panama where the Panamerican doesn't cross, yet is close to both oceans, but viciously wild, abounding with poisonous life, parasites, tropical diseases and predators, including a cool viper and spider. Hazen makes expert use of various plants, cutting palms for a raised shelter above most creepers, yet ends up chased by army ants, despite the termites smoldering in his fire to chase mosquitoes. Vegetal poison helps him fishing, balsa wood is ideal for an traditional raft on the river, yet it's abandoned when that gets wild and meanders so as to multiply the distance, so Hazen climbs the surprisingly steep mountain range to reach the coast.

Having spent time with the Nordic Sami (Laps) people before, Hazen returns to dare a sole mission, delivering a herd of 200 reindeer to their spring grazing grounds. First he must find and collect them, a tough order with a sled and experienced stag as only weapon, if he doesn't fall off, while carrying all he needs on the way. The Arctic weather is merciless, so finding or building shelter and making fire are absolutely crucial to avoid fatal frost and food is desperately scarce, even reindeer barely find something to graze under deep snow, and hungry predators roam about: wolverine and lynx but especially packs of wolves.

Episode 4
Thu, Feb 11, 201644 mins
Hazen returns to the Laotion lowland village of the fishermen Lao Loum tribe where he lived earlier and learned many skill he'll need on his five days journey over Mekong tributaries with rapids to catch big fish in rich but hard to reach waters. He uses and repairs the tribe's traditional bamboo raft, narrow so one can steer it alone. He stops at a fig tree, but the climb among snakes fleeing the monsoon-high water proves pointless as the fruits aren't ripe yet. He has more luck collecting aquatic snails, which must be boiled to eliminate parasites, so he painstakingly makes and uses a fire plow. Burning an ants nest on the fire chases bugs while a raisin torch attracts edible termites to his improvised bamboo hammock. Reaching the mighty falls, he must set woven fish traps and smoke his modest catch to preserve it in the tropical climate, only yielding catfish and other giant fish after fixing and crossing rope into a huge waterfall, risking a fatal slip.

Hazen returns to the Masai village he live din earlier. He's the first outsider trusted to bring within three days the traditional sacrifice of prime meat to volcano god Enai, supposed to live in the active crater. On the way he stays respectfully clear of an elephant and poisonous critters, collects water just far enough from hippos and protects himself from a lion pride by arranging acacia thorns around his camp. He supplements the meager catch with wild honey from bees in a tree branch, luckily while the aggressive insects reside in another one. The steep mountain proves exhausting, but he makes it in time.

Hazen uses the skills he learned with the Bajau, fishing sea nomads in the Coral Sea, on a traditional test for young warriors: a solo-voyage to the rich fishing grounds near a desperately remote tiny island. He must paddle his tail off as the wind denies any help, under a scorching South Sea sun. Navigating without satellite devises is ever harder, without proper land marks as his route progresses, yet crucial. He can go on land a few times, foraging and repairing his leaky canoe with a self-made palm concoction. Daneger lurks everywhere, as many sea creatures are poisonous, especially the blue octopus, yet he must dive for food without the Bajau's amazing training.

Episode 7
Mon, Feb 22, 201644 mins
Hazen returns to the Himalaya village of Loza in Nepal's ethnically Tibetan Mustang district, where he learned to survive in this icy high climate. Herds of yaks are vital, but now they lack fodder, so he must -alone- take a small herd to buy some in the regional town Lomantang. That requires passing as stinky marsh and vigilance for large predators like wolves and wild mastiff. His emergency ration is a slowly decomposing yak head. Its' hard to find anything, even water, the only fire fuel being dun, the cow give no no milk and he's soon exhausted bu thin air and icy winds, but those show the way -alas by blowing at him- to town.

Episode 8
Mon, Feb 29, 201644 mins
Hazen return to the Sahara, the largest dry desert, to use the skill he learned from a Berber tribe a a five day journey across the endless dunes. Traditional robes and veiled turban shade him against the sun, bu it's difficult to control the perfectly adapted but stubborn camel, which at one time escapes seeking his own shade. Hazen finds it hard to walk in the sand, yet must climb dunes or rocks to orientate or chase lizards -using a poking stick and self-made sling trap- and digs up juicy tuber under dry leaves. Despite mending his leaky goat skin water bag and given his sun-spoiled water supply, he must dig deep under scarce vegetation to find more after the known well was covered by sand, probably in a storm like the one he can barely brave rolled up, unlike the camel. Food is so rare he even regales on beetles which must be boiled like stale water, so he must make fire, but he gets there.
