Although the girl, named Marley, is secretive at first, she opens up enough to explain that she is caring for a sick Shaymin. It turns out that Shaymin has ingested some poison from a Seviper attack, but not just any Seviper-Team Rocket's Seviper. They had been trying to steal Shaymin from Marley since the previous evening, and have shown up today to try again. Team Rocket makes a third attempt to steal Shaymin, but our heroes-and Marley-finally send them blasting off in their usual style.

The stadium turns into a grass arena. Tobias sends out Darkrai first and Ash sends out and old Johto friend, Heracross. The battle begins, with Dawn checking out Darkrai's Pokedex data and states that Heracross has the advantage since Darkrai is a Dark-type and Hearcross is a bug-type. But will Heracross beat Darkrai?

Back in Twinleaf City and staying at Dawn's house before Ash and Brock head to the Kanto Region, our heroes find themselves given a chance for a good chat, dealing with issues like Buneary being caught up to become a model Pokémon for Poké-Chique magazine, and the fact that Dawn won't be able to join them on the trip to Kanto. This annoys Piplup, who runs away in anger. Meanwhile, Team Rocket is contacted by headquarters to immediately inform them of a mission that only they can take care of, and which may have no end. But when our heroes encounter Piplup, Team Rocket traps all of our heroes' Pokémon, which they hope to give the boss as a gift. But, having offered sweet words of understanding after meeting Piplup, our heroes unite and send Team Rocket off again, although Jessie, James and Meowth are so excited about their new mission that they don't even care. Later, after Ash and Dawn stated their wishes to become Pokémon Master and Top Coordinator, respectively, Brock informs them that he is leaving them for the purpose of making a career as a Pokémon doctor. And after a loving farewell with Dawn and Dawn's mother, Ash and Brock take the boat to Kanto, after saying goodbye affectionately, while Brock heads for Pewter City and Ash heads towards his beloved Pallet City.
