Pokémon! Kimi ni Kimeta!

Satoshi is finally 10 years old, old enough to become a Pokémon Trainer. He wakes up late on the day he is supposed to receive his first Pokémon at Professor Okido's lab, however, and arrives to discover all the Pokémon are gone. Satoshi has no choice but to take a naughty Pikachu. Pikachu will not listen to Satoshi or go inside its Monster Ball, so Satoshi must drag it along with a rope. After many failed attempts at capturing some Pokémon, Satoshi throws a rock and hits a Onisuzume. The Onisuzume gets angry and the entire flock starts chasing Satoshi and Pikachu. They run away from the Onisuzume, borrowing a bike from a red-haired girl to escape, but when they cannot go any farther, Satoshi uses his body to shield Pikachu from the attacking Pokémon. Pikachu realizes how much Satoshi cares for him and uses a powerful electric attack to drive the Onisuzume away, destroying the bicycle in the process as well.

Tai Ketsu! Pokémon Center!

Finally arriving in Viridian City, Ash is cornered by Officer Jenny, who asks why he is carrying Pikachu instead of having it in a Poké Ball. After explaining, Jenny takes Ash to the Pokémon Center, where Nurse Joy begins treatment on the injured Pikachu. Before Pikachu's treatment finishes, Misty, the girl who Ash took the bike from, confronts Ash for destroying her bicycle, and vows to stick with Ash until he compensates her for it. The Pokémon Center is then attacked by Jessie, James, and their talking Meowth; members of Team Rocket, a crime gang seeking to steal all of the infirm Pokémon. Ash's Pikachu recovers, and joins the Pokémon Center's many Pikachu manage to defeat Team Rocket by shocking them using Thunder Shock.

He then brings Pikachu and Satoshi to a watermill to make Pikachu stronger.

When Pikachu is severely injured, the lead Zenigame lets Satoshi out to get medicine from town, but must return soon or his friends will be trapped by the Zenigame-Gundan forever.

Both groups then meet an old, not-so-beautiful woman who warns them of a cruel fate brought about by the maiden. This is further driven in by an ancient picture of the same woman, painted over 2,000 years ago. The maiden had been waiting for her beloved to return from a war, but he never did, and her body eventually became the stone of the cliff she stood upon. Meanwhile, her ghost goes after both Brock and James, instead, and it's up to both groups working together to bring them back. But they may find that they can't trust anyone, especially not a certain ghost-type Pokémon...

However, Butterfree is rejected immediately and flies off heartbroken. The group help Butterfree to be more confident and try again, but to no avail. To make matters worse, Team Rocket enters in a brand new chopper and net just about every Butterfree, including the pink one. Ash's Butterfree chases after them as our heroes follow, but will it be able to stop Team Rocket on it's own and save its beloved? And when the time comes, will Ash have the courage needed to finally say good-bye?

Unfortunately, Taro thinks that the Garura are his family. After battling the Rocket-Dan, Taro's parents also become part of the Garura family.

As soon as Satoshi and his friends head out Pokémon hunting, the Rocket-Dan manages to get the drop on the game warden (Mr. Kaiser) and forces him into giving up the location on where Miniryu is (the Dragon Valley). In the end, Satoshi, his friends, the Rocket-Dan, and Kaiser end up seeing the legendary Miniryu and Hakuryu,

On their way, a bicycle gang appears to cause trouble and the Rocket-Dan is helping them. When Satoshi and his friends decide to cross the bridge during a storm, the bicyclists realize that they are acting selflessly, and help them.

As they all try to help Metamon perfect its transformation, the Rocket-Dan tries to steal the Metamon so it can transform into a Miniryu which they can give to the boss.

Satoshi and his friends arrive at Pokémon Center where the Monster Ball transfer machine has been causing problems, as the transferred Pokémon never end up at the other side. Satoshi and his friends decide to accompany Porygon, a computerized Pokémon, used by Professor Akihabara to investigate the problem, only to discover Team Rocket and another Porygon are to blame.

After saving a young Pikachu from drowning and rescuing the herd from the Rocket-Dan, Satoshi's Pikachu is welcomed among the other Pikachu as one of their own. Saddened by this sudden distance, Satoshi tries to leave Pikachu behind (to Kasumi and Takeshi's shock and dismay), thinking that in the long run, it is going to be better off with its own kind. As they attempt to leave the forest with Satohshi still standing his ground on leaving Pikachu.

The Four Ivui Brothers

While traveling through the woods, the group encounters an Eievui that was apparently abandoned near a tree. They take it to its address in Stone Town and find it belongs to a little boy named Taichi. His three brothers are pressuring him into evolving his Eievui into one of three forms - Thunders, Showers, or Booster - at an Evolution Party, where everyone uses Evolution Stones to evolve their Pokémon. However, the Evolution Party is disrupted by the Rocket-Dan, and Taichi manages to use Eievui on its own to show his brothers that he does not need to evolve his beloved Eievui.

But the Nassy end up hypnotizing themselves and the Rocket-Dan and almost destroy the entire carnival. Luckily, they are saved by Hitokage, who evolves into a disobedient Lizardo.

Everyone falls asleep, including Satoshi and his friends and the Rocket-Dan, and a miffed Purin uses the marker hidden in her microphone to draw on everyone's sleeping faces.

Resurrection!? Fossil Pokémon!

Arriving at a canyon to find an old fashioned fossil hunt, Satoshi, Shigeru and the gang decide to join in. But the Rocket-Dan arrives and intends to blow the canyon up. Satoshi, Pikachu, and the Rocket-Dan fall into a pit which is full of awakened ancient Pokémon. Their only hope may rest in Satoshi's disobedient Lizardo, which evolves into a powerful, yet still disobedient Lizardon to defeat a raging Ptera. In the end, the ancient Pokémon are sealed away once more (along with a terrified Team Rocket) and Officer Junsa dismisses the entire event as a side effect caused by Purin's singing. Satoshi, however, finds a rare Pokémon egg in the chaos and keeps it.

After finding a missing person sign featuring Kojiro, Satoshi and his friends decide to find Kojiro and inform him of his parents' death. However Kojiro's parents turn out to be alive, and their death was only a decoy to get him to return home to the rich Rumika, a girl Kojiro was arranged to marry from when he was a little child. Kojiro has left because Rumika is terrifying, so everyone tries to save Kojiro from this fate, including Kojiro' old pet Gardie, Gar-chan.

After finding the Gym in the island's volcano, the riddle master appears and reveals that he is actually Katsura, the Gym Leader Satoshi has been searching for. Satoshi begins his battle against Katsura with his first Pokémon, Zenigame who loses to Katsura's Kyukon and Lizardon simply refusing to battle Katura's Sidon. Eventually, Pikachu wins against Sidon but Katsurahas a secret weapon up his sleeve in the form of the Fire Pokémon, Boober. With Pikachu's electric attacks rendered useless, Boober pushes Pikachu closer and closer to the edge of the battlefield.

Decisive Battle! Guren Gym!

Pikachu successfully dodges Boober's Fire Blast but is left hanging over the edge and is left injured. Upon realizing that no Gym Badge is worth losing Pikachu and that he would be disqualified if he continues, Satoshi forfeits the match but vows not to leave Guren Island until he has beaten both Katsura and Boober in a rematch and gotten the Crimson Badge. But when the Gym and island come under threat after the Rocket-Dan's interference, Satoshi's Lizardon, Pikachu, Zenigame, Katsura's Boober, Kasumi's Hitodeman, Takeshi's Isitsubute, and Iwark work together and eventually triumph in preventing the volcano from blowing which would destroy the island. As thanks, Katsura agrees to have a rematch with Satoshi. With the battlefield damaged beyond repair, the trainers settle for the top of the volcano. Katsura determines that the match will be one on one where only one Pokémon can be used and puts forward his Boober. Satoshi's Pikachu volunteers itself but in a surprise twist, Satoshi's Lizardon selects itself to battle much to the surprise of Satoshi and the group.

Satoshi goes to the Gym in Tokiwa City, but Shigeru gets in there before him and challenges the Gym Leader for his own satisfaction, as he has already won ten Gym Badges. The Gym Leader, the Rocket-Dan's commander Sakaki agrees to the fight, eventually using a never before seen Pokémon (Mewtwo), which the Pokédex cannot identify, to easily defeat Shigeru. the Rocket-Dan kidnaps and tries to give Togepi to Sakaki, but Sakaki thinks it is useless. Sakaki leaves the Gym and puts Musashi, Kojiro, and Nyarth in charge. Satoshi challenges them and after losing three of Sakaki's Pokémon, Musashi and Kojiro use their own. Togepi sends them blasting off with a Metronome attack, without Satoshi and his friends even realizing it, and Satoshi wins the Green Badge, his eighth and final badge.
