In 2016 during a dangerous mission in Aleppo Georgie is annoyed by mouthy driver Maisie Richards and is not best pleased when they are both posted to Nepal to offer help following an earthquake. Conditions are rudimentary with Milan Dhakal of the NGO Disaster Relief trying to rehouse orphans, one of whom, a little girl called Tara, is a useful helper. Georgie's animosity with Maisie continues whilst she finds herself attracted to Milan but she is trapped with him in rubble following an after-shock.

Maisie defies orders and risks her life to save Georgie and Milan before the house collapses on them. Next day, after sharing a kiss with Milan, Georgie realizes that Tara and some of her friends are missing and Milan tells her they have been taken by fake volunteer Da Chand to sell as child slaves in Kathmandu. Georgie, Maisie, Milan and soldier Rab give chase and rescue the girls though Tara, having seen the big city, is reluctant to return to her village. Georgie enjoys a night out with Milan before Elvis appears to announce that the platoon has been ordered to Afghanistan to track down a Taliban group led by Da Chand.

The company moves to Kabul to back up the beleaguered local army, where Georgie's services are immediately required when they come under fire. Their mission is to capture terrorist Aatan Omar, to whom Da Chand has led them, but Afghani captain Azizi is pessimistic about their success and Maisie is mistrustful of him, which is justified when Taliban snipers hit the unit. Georgie is also thrown by the reappearance of Elvis, still keen to get back with her, before the group is marooned during a sandstorm.

With rescue helicopters unable to reach the group through the sand storm Elvis buys a truck from the locals to return to Kabul but the Taliban have mined the road and the unit have a narrow escape, Georgie needing to perform a roadside operation. Back in Kabul Georgie expresses her intention of going back to Nepal, to the dismay of Elvis, with whom she has sex. With Omar again located the mission is back on to capture him, resulting in fatalities in the section. Georgie does return to Nepal and Milan but must take action when she hears that Tara has paid traffickers to take her to Europe.

Still grieving and heartbroken from the death of Elvis Harte, Lance Corporal Georgie Lane (Michelle Keegan) is sent to Nigeria on a training mission, alongside 2-section. Working as part of the British Army's effort to help train local forces in the fight against terror, Georgie throws herself into work helping to train local medics, as well as overseeing a local women's health initiative. However, whilst 2-section work hard helping to equip the Nigerian Army, everyone is soon put on edge when they encounter a local crime boss and a seemingly ruthless band of mercenaries in the village near where a group of school girls have been abducted. As 2-section try to help the Nigerian forces locate the missing schoolgirls, Georgie unknowingly places herself and other members of 2-section in grave danger, when they go off grid.

Georgie, Maisie, Kingy and Rab are captured by the terrorists, who torture local medic Adewole. However Bones, the alleged mercenary with whom Georgie had a run-in, is actually an under-cover special forces agent who leads an attack on the terrorist camp, freeing the soldiers though Georgie is distraught that Adewole is left behind and Bones is angry that James jeopardized an attempt to free the abducted schoolgirls. Georgie gets the opportunity to save Adewole when a captured child soldier proves to be the terrorist leader's son and a successful prisoner exchange is arranged before the unit returns to Lagos.

Now in Belize for a jungle training exercise Section 2 members quickly get into a row with natives at a bar. Split into two teams by local commander Mendez the aim is to locate and return to base a mythical injury victim. James' group beats Georgie's but he is shot in the leg by drug-dealing bandits and Georgie, helped by local boy Ezra, attempts to bring him back to safety, discovering a truth from him as they try to escape from the drug-dealers.

Back at base the section receives a weak signal from James' tracker and Bones arrives with his team to locate him and Georgie. The endangered couple are helped by Ezra, who takes them to the safety of a cave, where James admits to a responsibility for the death of Elvis. The pair are rescued but not without innocent casualties.

Nigeria, Belize and Bangladesh Tours: Episode 5

With James recovering from his injuries Bones takes charge as the unit moves to Bangladesh to help Rohingya refugees fleeing persecution in Myanmar. Georgie and young Jason Curry - nicknamed Ruby - assist Inspector Chowdhrey and his wife Bharsha at their make-shift hospital, which is short of supplies as more refugees flood the camp. However danger is present in Bangladesh when a suicide bomber strikes, claiming one of the section as his victim.

Following Bones' death James returns and security checks are in force. Georgie is puzzled to see Chowdhrey doing business with a man without Bharsha's knowledge and, aware that drug smugglers are using the refugees, she tells James. It becomes apparent that Chowdhrey is in league with the smugglers and was the bomber's target, especially when he disappears. However James has his own crisis.

A cholera outbreak adds to the section's problems, stressing out Georgie and Ruby. Chowdhrey is arrested but refuses to give his captors any information until Georgie asks for Barsha's intervention. Then Georgie and Maisie are attacked by gunmen who kidnap the Chowdhrey's young son.

Georgie is caught in the crossfire when another attempt is made on Inspector Chowdhrey's life, forcing her to re-examine her feelings for her captain. With Chowdhrey's son Sumon still missing, Georgie persuades James to call in special forces. A daring mission is conceived, but 2 Section find themselves in a deadly shoot out with the drug gang to recover Sumon and halt the yaba trade.
