Meet Cheyenne McKinney whose successful career as a champion boxer has led to her next career move in the sports world. She tells us how her love of boxing and passion for helping the Greenwood community, also known as Black Wall Street in Tulsa, Oklahoma have come together in coaching the next generation. When it comes to preventing addiction, there are some special people serving on the front lines. Cherokee Nation Prevention Specialist Coleman Cox is one of those people and he says community change isn't something that happens overnight. Cherokee potter Carrie Lind treats her pottery as living, breathing pieces and treats each work of art as a private conversation between her and the harvested earth. She tells us how she first began her journey in clay and who has inspired her along the way. In our Cherokee Almanac, we look back at the murder trial of Archilla Smith. His trial would play a pivotal role in the evolution of the Cherokee judicial system not long after Cherokees were removed to Indian Territory.

Horse trainer and national champion Lisa Gallery wouldn't call herself a "horse whisperer" but you'd be hard pressed to find anyone else who has such keen communication with our equine friends. We saddle up with Lisa as we learn more about her special relationships with horses. Nathalie Standingcloud is a storyteller, although not in the usual sense of the word. Her stories are told in ink and on the screen as she showcases her talent as both an emerging tattoo artist and actress. Eric Vardeman is known as "The Curling Guy". He is President and Founder of the Tulsa Curling Club, a unique winter sport that is often misunderstood. He shares with us why this game of strategy has sometimes been called "chess on ice". Kenny Limore is known as "The Cherokee Noodler". He is the picture of a true outdoors man, managing a ranch and wrestling catfish from their holes in lakes and rivers all over Cherokee Nation. He takes us out of the lake and shows us how to keep the catfish biting. Sara Hoklotubbe is a mystery writer whose books earn high praise from readers and critics alike. She aims to dispel myths often written about Natives while staying true to Cherokee culture through her characters. Her protagonist, Sadie Walela, does just that as a sharp Cherokee woman with an eye for solving crimes. Serving as the Cherokee Nation's Tribal Historic Preservation Officer Lizz Toombs feels a deep responsibility to protect our cultural assets and historic lands for future generations. She tells us why this is important to our survival and legacy as Cherokee people. In our Cherokee Almanac, we explore how many aspects of American life were adopted by some Cherokees who viewed assimilation as the best survival tactic against American expansion. One such adoption was the practice of chattel slavery. We look back on an uncomfortable part of Cherokee history, the Cherokee Slave Revolt of 1842.
