The Collapse of Nature

A flashback into the last several days in Beth's life acts as an extended prologue to the current day goings-on of the sisters. Beth has a source who she has not mentioned to anyone, including Art, which leads her and Art to their next case, what Art sees as just the homicide of a man named Edward Capra, but which Beth knows is part of what her source tells her is about the Neolutionists, who are all around her according to the source. As such, the source tells her not to trust anyone, even those closest to her. Two issues of interest concerning Capra are a square piece of his right cheek which has been removed, and reconstruction of his sex organ into two. Beth has to figure out how these two items relate to the Neolutionists. Beth has also just started managing the fund for her, Alison and Cosima, bankrolled by Alison for them to live while Beth largely shoulders the legwork on figuring out what is going on with them. She is dealing with all the stress in her life, which includes a s*** relationship with Paul, with cocaine use, and turning to the one person she figures she truly can trust for emotional comfort. But with Beth now gone, what were loose ends in her life start to reemerge for the living sisters...

Rachel receives a visit from her keeper and takes a fraught step forward towards recovery. Meanwhile, Helena is mistaken for "Mrs. Hendrix" when she answers a visit from suspicious visitors.

Although she doesn't trust him, Sarah knows that Ferdinand now is her strongest lead in getting the bot removed in that he knows the one person who can remove it: Susan Duncan. In return, Ferdinand also wants access to Susan as he knows that she has Rachel, who he wants to save. MK is the person who has the skill set to locate Susan. As Sarah will not divulge MK as her source to him and as Sarah does not want to tell MK that Ferdinand is the person that has been helping her, Sarah needs to act as the go-between. Either finding out the identity of the other could have major repercussions, especially concerning MK's past. While out for coffee, Alison is accosted by Trina believing her to be Beth. Trina's accusations lead to Alison needing to follow another path to a fertility clinic to find the link back to Neolutionists. As she knows that one of her sisters has been to the clinic, Alison needs to enlist the help of others to infiltrate the clinic. This includes Felix, who has reemerged in the sisters' lives as he finds out about Sarah's current predicament with the bot. Cosima and Scott are able to remove the bot from Aldous' face, his bot which is encased in a tumor. They have to find out the nature of the tumor to hopefully find out the purpose of the bot. Donnie has a heart-to-heart with Helena about how difficult the talk of a sister having a baby is to Alison. As such, Helena makes a decision of her own. And Rachel sees the signs that Charlotte, her only trusted conduit to the outside world, suffers the genetic defect that has killed many of the clones. Rachel also knows that Susan would see that Charlotte, in being the youngest ever to develop the symptoms, is worth more to the project dead than alive.

Human Raw Material

With Sarah taking a mom day with Kira and Alison busy with a committee meeting, Cosima volunteers to accompany Donnie to the BrightBorn orientation session pretending to be the surrogate mom, which she hopes will allow her to do some snooping around the facility to discover what scientifically BrightBorn is actually doing. It is a difficult enough situation made all the more difficult when they discover upon arrival that Evie Cho will be at the orientation. It becomes even more confusing with the arrival of another unexpected person, who is unaware of Leda but has her own suspicions of something nefarious going on in her world, which almost got her killed. Sarah and Felix are still at odds with each other over Adele in his life, Sarah not believing that they truly are biological siblings and that Adele is in his life for some other nefarious reason. Their antagonism is increased by Felix bringing Adele to the safe house, and by Sarah discovering that Geneconnecxion, the company that Adele and Felix used to find each other, is a subsidiary of BrightBorn. Sarah decides to do some investigative work of her own on the matter. And Art's professional life is potentially put into jeopardy when he finds out some information regarding Alison and Donnie.

The Scandal of Altruism

Seeing that it is the best overall solution yet not perfect by any means, Sarah and Cosima decide with Kendall's OK to set up an agreement with Susan Duncan, which they will not divulge to Mrs. S. until everything is arranged as they know she won't like what they've done. That agreement is an agent representing Susan will remove the bot from Sarah's cheek, with Cosima on site to ensure Sarah's safety. As Scott and Cosima have not yet come up with a "cure" for Cosima and the other affected Leda clones, they in turn will provide their research and Kendall to Susan, with Scott harvesting the necessary cell from Kendall so that Susan can continue the work on curing the affected Leda clones. The agreement does not include providing any of Kendall's DNA for the Castor project. When these two sides of the agreement are accomplished on neutral sites, Susan's agents will release Cosima, while Kendall will be whisked away to safety back at the safe house. While those involved hope to get what they want out of the agreement, they may be unaware that there is at least one other person in the know who may have a different view of the Leda project and Kendall's utility. Meanwhile, Krystal is in the police precinct to report what she believes is going on with the illegal use of stem cells in cosmetics production. Art is able to intervene so that Krystal feels like her issues are addressed, while anyone who may have known Beth will not be suspicious. Art feels he needs to call in support, the person to the rescue being the one who may most be able to placate Krystal.

The Antisocialism of Sex

Sarah regresses to old habits while struggling to cope with the consequences of her decisions - reconnecting with Beth on a dark night of the soul. Back at the lab, Cosima, haunted by vicious memories and news of Delphine, attempts a dangerous Hail Mary to find a cure. At the Hendrixes, Alison is more determined than ever to create normalcy for her kids. As she forges ahead with a birthday party, Donnie is caught in the Neolution crosshairs.

The Redesign of Natural Objects

Despite not knowing where she's gone or why she's back, Sarah reconnects with MK, who is able to provide some information as to the fact that the Neolutionists under Evie Cho see especially Sarah, but also Alison and Cosima, as threats to the project. As such, Sarah asks MK for one more favor in getting her in touch with Susan Duncan, who may now be more of an ally in finding a cure for Cosima. However Rachel being aligned with Susan may still be an issue. In the process, Cosima believes she may have found at least a starting point for their future research, which involves a reluctant Sarah. Rachel, in the meantime, has been seeing visions, including of swans, which she believes are not hallucinations but something implanted into her eye. Meanwhile, Mrs. S is still determined to get some revenge for her mother's murder, and to discover what Evie Cho's end game is so that she can help find some peace for the sisters. Both those roads lead to Marty Duko. However, a potential issue is Alison, who has not been in contact with the sisters of late as she has been dealing with her own issues. While she and Sarah Stubbs have been working on their stage rendering of Jesus Christ Superstar, Donnie was arrested and is currently being held in remand for the weekend until his bail hearing following the weekend, which Adele is handling on his and Alison's behalf. Donnie and Alison learn that Duko was the one who orchestrated the arrest on behalf of the Neolutionists, who may take even more drastic action against Donnie unless they get what they want. In the process, Alison may have to choose between the life of her husband and the life of one of her sisters.

The Mitigation of Competition

The formal alliance between the sisters on one side Susan/Rachel/Ira on the other side begins in earnest. Cosima has arrived on the island where she and Susan will begin the process of finding a cure for both Leda and Castor by developing original DNA in the absence of Kendall through fertilization of one of Sarah's eggs with Ira's sperm, while Sarah and Felix meet with Rachel and Ira to discuss the next step in bringing down Evie Cho and restoring Susan as the head of Neolution. As Evie ramps up her media campaign to bring BrightBorn's work to the masses, Sarah, Rachel, Felix and Ira learn that two women, Tabitha Stewart and Kendra Dupree, have escaped from BrightBorn's facility, Tabitha near the end of her pregnancy and Kendra with her newborn. Rachel believes that what Tabitha and Kendra know and bringing it to public light is the key to exposing Evie's work. Sarah is determined for "her side" to do the work in finding the two women despite Sarah being Evie's primary target, having her side being down in human resources with both Cosima and Alison out of commission and Helena still MIA, and knowing that Evie has her operatives also tracking the two escaped women. Through the process, Sarah and Rachel still display obvious animosity toward each other. They will learn if their mistrust of the other is warranted. Meanwhile, Donnie has been released from remand with Adele still tasked with leading their legal team. In her reunion with her husband, Alison comes to some realizations about her current life, and with Donnie has to make some decisions about how to rectify what has been missing of late. Felix comes to a decision of his own about his personal life as he and Adele help the Hendrixes and as someone unexpectedly shows up on his doorstep. And Rachel continues to see visions, still of the swan but the visions more fully realized, but still without fully understanding why she is having these visions and what they mean.
