Episode 1
The Pit and the Pendulum

As ever it's not Victor's day. He picks up Patrick's dog in mistake for the phone and is angered by womanizing workman Kazanzi,who is doing some gardening for the Meldrews and who charms Margaret. When he sees Kazanzi with a very young girl - who actually turns out to be his daughter - Victor lets fly at him. When Margaret returns she find Kazanzi has buried Victor up to his neck in the garden with a pot over his head. She also hears that her mother has died.

Descent Into the Maelstrom

Margaret is diagnosed with nervous exhaustion - first brought on over thirty years earlier and needs bed rest so Victor does the chores. He burns a hole in the ironing,gives a homeless person the video,mistaking him for the repair man and looks on as Nick's attempts to mend the waste disposal unit come to grief. Fortunately for Margaret a visit from her old friend Andrea cheers her though there are even complications here when a pair of ear-rings goes missing.

Hearts of Darkness

Victor, Margaret, Jean and Nick decide to go for a drive in the country but it does not go according to plan. After losing the route on a boat trip and playing Trivial Pursuit for an hour, Victor has had enough. Eventually they abandon the boat and go in search of the car. When it starts to rain they take shelter in a van. After the rain passes Victor and Jean find their feet are stuck in concrete. After a long walk, Victor gets free and searches for the car. Victor finds a nursing home where the patients are abused. Victor does the the right thing and all the staff are set in concrete.

Warm Champagne

Margaret is asked to dinner by Ben, a charming man she met on holiday. He would like them to be more than friends but she is loyal to her Victor. A milk float crashes into a newly erected lamp post sending the top of it crashing into the Meldrews' bedroom. As if this is not enough paramedics accidentally deliver an old lady to the wrong house - the Meldrews' of course - and put her in their bed.

The Trial

In a solo episode featuring only Richard Wilson,Victor is home alone waiting on a phone call regarding his jury service. For this reason he does not take kindly when Mrs Warboys rings to prattle on about her holiday. He becomes alarmed by a crack in the wall which he fears may be subsidence,diagnoses his aches and pains and rails at God for letting it rain when he wanted to do the garden. At least he is able to have a nice unhealthy meal.

Secret of the Seven Sorcerers

Margaret asks Pippa and Patrick to dinner but Victor,plagued by nuisance calls involving the fire brigade and disturbed to hear that his predecessor as a lollipop man met an awful death,is not inclined to be the perfect host. The window cleaner burns his throat drinking Victor's chilli sauce in mistake for coffee and a trick involving a member of Victor's magicians group,having a heart attack and being locked in a box for five hours also ensures that Pippa and Patrick will be very nervous dinner guests.
