The history of the Old Vic Theatre near London's Waterloo told by famous actors and actresses who have played there over the years since its founding by Lillian Baylis who, in effect, helped create The National Theatre, The Sadler's Wells Ballet and English National Opera. At the time of the programme's transmission the Theatre had been bought by a Canadian businessman, Ed Mirvish who, with his son David, set about restoring it to its former glory and re-opening it.
