Ahmad's patrol deals with the surreal ramifications of a small fry toilet paper thief who takes a shark loan to spend his uncollected lottery winnings.

While Yoda and four recruits are in or near the Ratskeller restaurant-bar, its' robbed by a brutal bunch, but he chooses to keep his head down, so the rookies follow his example. Ahmad's return from the toilet triggers a shooting, during which his partner Apple gets shot, for which he somehow feels guilty, while seniors insist he couldn't know and probably prevented worse. Kenney and Lazarus brilliantly track down the wounded robber he got away, and start the search for the missing gun, which a punk sold to naive neighbor Peter Ramos, whose school-bullied teen son Ricky is missing with it. Phone calls indicate the waitress wasn't a real hostage but an escape plan.

Kenny disregards and later discloses Joda's suggestion to mistrust Ahmad's judgment in a rape case due to possible Afghan Muslim and cultural bias, as Ahmad sympathizes most with the girl victim. They do a brilliant job identifying the suspect who hides in block party and working out how it ties in with counterfeit watches trade and why she fails' to pick him from a line-up. While Ray's duo controls tempers due to a Harlem traffic jam caused by a left behind car, clues of other crimes keep popping up.

A dodgy pills dealer beaten up by a furious client in police jail escapes from hospital.

Ray becomes the hero of the day after rushing into a burning building and rescuing people, but the shy young Scott Exley, who caught the kid he had to throw down, runs, as turns out being AWAL from his army unit, and fellow veteran 'White House' wants to arrest him. Kenny and his precipitous partner fear becoming the precinct's laughing stock, getting trapped with an illegally kept alligator in the owner's vile-stinking room. Ahmad and Tonya have trouble while acting as 'clients' during a drug bust, where ray's brat daughter is a real one.
