Nar Est transforms the Temple of Champions into his new home base while the heroes seek the tower that contains the second map piece. A bolt of lightning strikes the aeroglyder and Niko is swept off the wing, with Lyra following to rescue him. Separated from the team and each other, Niko and Lyra are taken into the custody of two warring groups. Meanwhile, Nar Est continues to work on his Dark Crystal and intercepts a communication, learning of the map and the tower the heroes are investigating. Nar Est sends Rasper and the Dark Champion on a mission to crush Niko and retrieve the map. Lyra and Niko find themselves as arbitrators of an ancient conflict. Mandok arrives - and a singing battle ensues about the name of the mythic tower. Lyra and Niko convince both sides that they shouldn't be fighting and that it's the tower that's been causing all the bad blood. The two sides unite as the Dark Champion arrives. Niko and the Champion do battle - and the combination of light and dark energy pull apart the tower, revealing the piece of the map which Mandok captures. The heroes escape, leaving the Dark Champion buried in the rubble of the tower.
Episode 6

The Dark Champion pursues the team, who are rescued by Chompsky via the aeroglyder. They take flight, but D.C. manages to damage the craft. The team is dismayed as it seems that none of their blows can damage him. Chompsky spots the Caterpillar Train and nobly drops off the team as he diverts D.C. The team escapes - meanwhile, the Beadys are back and eyeing the train for robbery. Nar Est's Dark Crystal shatters, but he realizes that the key's glow can lead him towards the Forgotten Fortress - however, it will be a slow going journey. D.C. is intercepted by the Beadys who give him Niko's whereabouts. They attempt to rob the train and fight Niko but they are beaten. Niko, with Lyra's help, is able to meet D.C. head on - and defeat him by having him plunge into the sand banks of a beach far below them. The Scuttle Bugs give Niko a free ride token as a gift and Chompsky returns with the aeroglyder, having a volcano in mind that he thinks may hold the secret to the next map piece. Nar Est continues his arduous trek - with the key, he has something better than the map, and with D.C., more than enough power to get there first!

With the aeroglyer in submarine mode, the team travels leagues under the ocean to find next map piece. On the run in the forest, Nar Est gets a ride with a carriage of Funkfangs. Under the sea, the heroes come upon a massive celebration called Boiling Crab. Around a crevass, Larry the Lantern Fish warns the only creature able to survive below is the LAVOCTOPUS. Meanwhile, Nar Est notices that baby Funkfang is wearing an amber crystal and steals it. He goes into the woods and summons the Dark Champion. Back at Boiling Crab, Chompsky has retrofitted the Golden Crab into a mech suit, which they pilot as a team. They go into the abyss and distract the Lavoctopus with shiny treasure while they try to reclaim the map piece. Niko goes into a trance, seeing the dark and light entwine, before finally snapping out of it. Niko and Lyra work together to unseal the lava vent and realize that the Lavoctopus wasn't evil so much as trapped. With the Lavoctopus free and swimming through the new streams of lava, the team hops back into the submarine and head for the surface. Far off, D.C. hears Nar Est's summons. He turns and marches away, back in the game.
Episode 8

Our heroes sneak deep inside the Automatron in search of the fourth and final piece of the map. To get the piece might mean destroying the heart and soul of the Automatron itself. Lyra and Niko sympathize, since they've been grappling with their own meaning, but are able to find a solution using a powerful magic that removes the map from the crystal powering the Automatron. When the team connects the map pieces it brings them face-to-face with Nar Est and the Dark Champion.
Episode 9

Following a trail left by Nar Est, the heroes arrive at The Forgotten Fortress. Struggling against a forgetfulness spell and using the map, they are able to enter without forgetting their identities, until they lose hold of the artifact and are paired with the bad guys, who have also forgotten themselves. Niko teams with the Dark Champion - bringing together light and dark - to open the door leading to the Amulet of Power, thus breaking the enchantment. All do battle, each trying to gain the coveted gem as Niko tries to convince the Dark Champion to join his side because Nar Est is evil and the world will be doomed if he gains power again. The Dark Champion hesitates, but ultimately dons the amulet, bringing into the world Darkness itself.
Episode 10

In a final battle against the ultimate enemy, Niko goes on a journey to discover his true purpose, traveling through mystic other worlds where the spirits of past heroes help guide him to victory against the Darkness. The world needs balance, and for Niko to win he must give up the light inside of himself, becoming a regular boy in the end
