The Philippines has a greater variety of life per square mile than any other country. Half of its 52,000 species are found nowhere else on Earth. An archipelago of 7000 tropical islands scattered in the Pacific, it's a land of contrasts, from calm tropical seas sheltering delicate castles of coral, to the smoke and fire of twenty active volcanoes; from the world's largest eagle to one of the smallest primates, the tiny tarsier.
