WNYX is exceeding it's budget and Mr. James tells Dave he has to get rid of the free snacks in the break room. Dave tells Mr. James this will lead to a revolt lead by Bill and that the staff will consider Dave the bad guy, but Mr. James sees no other options. Pretty soon, Bill is indeed the leader of a revolt of the whole staff - save Lisa who doesn't want to be involved because she's involved with Dave - and tells Dave what their demands are. However, Bill demands a massage chair instead of free snacks in the break room. Meanwhile, Joe tries to get Catherine to go on a date with him by fixing her not-broken desk.

To the staff's surprise, Dave says they are allowed to leave early for Christmas but only if they have finished all their work first. Bill takes Beth along to read opposite him for a garage door-opener commercial. The sound guy decides to use Beth instead of Bill so Bill tells Beth to read poorly for it so they will hire him. With her repeated botched takes, Beth loses her voice forcing Bill to reveal a creepy secret talent to resolve the problem. Meanwhile each staff member pawns their work off on Dave one by one so they can each leave early, leaving Dave stuck at the station delaying Lisa and Dave's departure time to Wisconsin. Lisa is nervous about meeting Dave's parents for the first time but her worrying turns out to be for nothing.

Bill joins the Ted Chambers gym because, as always, Bill can't control himself around celebrities. As quickly as he joined, Bill wants to quit the gym but a guest-starring Ben Stiller refuses to let him go. The staff learns Dave's big dark secret that he is... Gasp! ...A CANADIAN!!! Of course this leads the staff to question all they know about their own Dave Nelson and themselves. The staff is left feeling hurt and as Beth says, "naked." Jimmy seeks Dave's help to work on his table manners so he can sit next to Bill Clinton at a White House dinner. Dave confesses to Jimmy that he has hidden his true origins because of his fear of being thought to be a Canadian spy. To this, Jimmy replies, "you poor misguided Canadian bastard."

Tensions rise in the office after a local magazine names Lisa cutest reporter in New York. After Joe alerts Bill that he's had his treble all the way down in his car and turns it up, Bill becomes shocked and outraged over the lyrics rap music has, previously not hearing them without the treble.

Once again, Bill humiliates Matthew and, once again, Matthew starts to cry and locks himself in Dave's office. After a talk with Dave, Matthew punches Bill out! To his own surprise, Matthew likes this rough side of himself and starts behaving like he owns the place. A suddenly very humble Bill is the only one who likes this character change. Meanwhile, Mr. James has a problem: he has lost some money when playing Three-Card Monte with some crooked dealers. He asks Catherine for help because he wants to win his money back from them.

Jimmy is very proud of a box of movie memorabilia he bought. Unfortunately, all items turn out to be fake. With the help of Joe, Jimmy is going to sue the guy who sold him the box. The yearly job-evaluation interviews are coming up, and this year Dave has a novel idea: rather than his doing the job evaluation of each staff member, each staff member will evaluate a fellow staff member's job performance. Lisa is unhappy that Dave didn't credit her for the new job-evaluation method.

Mr. James goes on a mission to stop Joe and Catherine from becoming romantically involved.

Joe accidentally sets off the self destruct system and everybody is forced into hypersleep. Matthew accidentally kicks the cord and shuts down their life support. Bill and Matthew repopulate humanity in the lab.
