Susan Walsh, went missing from New York City on July 16, 1996. She had been working as an exotic dancer, and investigative journalist at the time of her disappearance. Susan had written several articles for the 'Village Voice,' many were revealing exposés. One potentially dangerous article detailed the influx of Russian women to various strip clubs in the area. Susan espoused the women may have been sex trafficked, and were being forced to work in New Jersey bars. In her article, Susan implied these women were being lured or threatened into stripping and prostitution by the Russian Mafia. Susan wrote another article detailing the eccentricities of the New York underground vampire scene. Following a tip, she uncovered missing blood from various area hospitals. As with all her articles, she dove deep into her subject, perhaps uncovering something that could have been dangerous to her. Susan was trying to raise and support her 11 year old son, David, while living in the same apartment building with her ex-husband, Mark Walsh, and her boyfriend, Christian Pepo. According to Mark Walsh, Susan suffered from depression, and he believed she had attempted suicide three weeks before her disappearance. He also told police he believed Susan was involved with prostitution. Susan left home without her purse, beeper, or cigarettes, even though she was a chain smoker. Christian Pepo, Susan's live-in boyfriend at the time of her disappearance, says minutes before Susan disappeared, she had been acting strangely. She went out to a pay phone to make a call, and never returned. Pepo is also convinced Susan was killed by a man named Billy Walker. Billy Walker had been stalking Susan, and was purported to be in the Italian Mafia. His stalking had escalated, and Susan had reported him to police on two separate occasions. Everyone who knew Susan agreed she'd never walk out on her son, David. As of July, 2001, the police reached the conclusion, Susan Walsh met with foul play, and is now considered a homicide victim. The police believe the persons of interest are Mark Walsh, Susan's ex-husband, Christian Pepo, her live-in boyfriend at the time of her disappearance, and Billy Walker, a man who had been reported to police for stalking Susan.
