Rowdy hopes to go professional, but it will have to wait until the college freshman finishes school. Pure Energy - 2000 kids with the best rockets, racers, gliders, bridges, catapults and contraptions compete in the NATIONAL SCIENCE OLYMPIAD on the campus of the University of Nebraska. Bright minds from 49 states vie for the glory of champions and the fun of doing science. Featured in this story are Jon Pedersen, Tournament Director of the National Science Olympiad and Nebraskan Jake Winemiller, supervisor of the Bottle Rocket competition. Camp Roadshow - Meet the people who enjoy spending their summers working on one of the most popular series on PBS, Antiques Roadshow. NET was granted special access to capture behind-the-scenes footage during the Roadshow's recent Omaha taping. In its twentieth season, the production hums like a well-oiled machine run by a bucket of happy campers. The Artist's Wife - She supported the career of her husband, illustrator Reynold Brown, while raising their eight children. Then it was her turn. Inspired by the Northwest Nebraska landscape, Mary Tejeda Brown continues to paint as her vision dims. The Girl from Broken Bow - Sometimes a family treasure requires detective work. We follow a young woman as she finds a surprising story behind a homestead portrait taken by sod house photographer Solomon Butcher.

Against the Current - As a child in frontier Nebraska, Susan La Flesche witnessed the death of a member of her tribe--because the agency doctor never showed up. The experience drove her to accomplish the seemingly impossible--to become the first Native American doctor and to build her own hospital on the Omaha reservation. Omaha means "against the current" -- so she was just being true to her Omaha culture. Two members of her tribe, Wehnona Stabler and Lisa Drum, tell Doctor Susan's story from the Omaha point of view. UNL Professor of History, Margaret Jacobs, offers insights into the Presbyterian Mission School on the reservation. This is an excerpt from the NET documentary Medicine Woman. The Warrior's Pen - Sharon Robino-West, a former Marine, is developing her writing skills to help her son. He, too, is a Marine veteran who suffers from PTSD related to serving in the Afghanistan War. Sharon is a student in the Warrior Writers Workshop (Omaha), a program for active duty and military veterans. The free workshop for members of the military and their families provides a safe environment where vets like Robino-West can explore their personal experience as they learn the art of writing fiction and nonfiction. For some workshop participants, it may even help heal the quiet wounds of battle. Restoring the Self - A young woman recovering from a brain injury due to a cancerous tumor discovers the healing power of art therapy in an effort to relearn basic life and coping skills. Kickstarting a Comeback - After straining his vocal cords, Philip Zach never thought he'd sing again. He toured the world, then sat in silence. Now as his voice heals, he puts the final touches on a musical journey fueled in part by Kickstarter. Dream Car Auction - The sights and sounds of a one-of-a-kind sale of rare vintage cars from the last century. Ten thousand people from all over the world converge on Pierce, Nebraska and spend 2.8 million dollars.

The Most Beautiful Man in the World - He was once heralded as the "Most Beautiful Man in the World." Noted artist, poet and dancer Paul Swan grew up in Crab Orchard, Nebraska but made a name for himself in Paris and New York, painting and sculpting the likes of Isadora Duncan, Willa Cather and John F. Kennedy, among others. Through exhibits and artifacts on display at the Museum of Nebraska Art in Kearney, we explore the story behind this mysterious artist. The Saddle Maker - Lyle Henderson is a second generation saddle maker. Together with his wife, Lynda, the Henderson's are turning the prosperous, long-time tradition into an international business. This cowboy is heading' up. Batman Does Shakespeare - What do comic books and theater have in common? Bob Hall says they both tell stories, which is why this Lincoln native has spent his life drawing characters like Batman and directing plays written by Shakespeare. The Power of Positive Thinking - Jon McAlpin has beat cancer three times. He credits keeping a positive attitude and serving others as part of his successful treatment.

Life Beyond Hoops - For one senior basketball players, maturing didn't happen on the count and in the game it happened off the court and helped provide a positive influence in a young person's life. Skating for Change - Mike Smith is a good guy who saw someone in need and simply wanted to help. He stepped off his skateboard and began a grassroots youth movement that's gone nationwide. Meet the man behind "Skate for Change". Drawn to Fashion - In the digital age, fashion illustration is a lost art but MOmaha artist Mary Mitchell is bringing it back. Her collection of a thousand images, created over three decades, uniquely reveal the beauty of fabric and design. Dust Covered Dreams - The heartbreaking story of a man's struggle to provide for his growing family during the Dust Bowl years comes to life through the words of author Barbara (Eymann) Mohrmann. Her intimate family story, discovered in a worn-out box, reminds us of the power of great love in times of great hardship.

Featured in this story are the young students from Hyannis and Lincoln selected to perform. Brown Sheep Company - There are only a handful of active wool mills in the United States, but one of the best is located in the Panhandle. Peggy Jo Wells and her husband, Robert, are producing wool that's not only sought after by crafters, but has also captured the eye of a New York designer. CyberSecuring A Future - A team of Omaha South students competes against other Nebraska high schools in an event that has real world implications; protecting computer systems from cyber attacks. Deconstructing Art - We start with a finished ceramic sculpture and work backwards to see how ceramicist Ryan LaBar creates his intricate, abstract pieces. High Noon at Winnetoon - Step back in time to the Old West with a guided visit through the Winnetoon Boardwalk In Time, complete with historical buildings and artifacts, a garden of native wild flowers and prairie grasses. A Day in Fontenelle - It's one of the largest private nature centers in the country and one of Nebraska's five National Natural Landmarks and it's located just minutes from downtown Omaha in Bellevue.

Musical Seedlings - Classically trained musicians from the Omaha Conservatory of Music teach 3-6-year-olds to play the violin as part of as part of a groundbreaking free after school program unique to Nebraska that targets under served communities in an effort to bolster early childhood education and foster a love for the arts. The Villagers of Taylor - Meet the unusual villagers of Taylor, and the artist who brought them to this small Nebraska town, creating hundreds of life-size cutouts of 1920s era people in and around Taylor. Bob Gibson's Legacy - He's an Omaha native who played 17 years with the St. Louis Cardinals and he's been in the Baseball Hall of Fame since 1981. Recently, his hometown honored pitcher Bob Gibson by commissioning a statue--which is anything but static. Beyond The Finish Line - Revisit 53-year-old Bobby Watson's run for Team Nebraska during the 2010 Special Olympics held in Lincoln.

Jazz Reunion - As the Nebraska Jazz Orchestra celebrates its 40th anniversary, it has brought back some of its strongest performers for a joint alumni/current member performance. With only one night to prep for a big performance, there is a mix of tension and nostalgia as these jazz talents make music on a deadline. Invisible People - One of the little known histories of our state is the story of the settlement of Japanese immigrants in Nebraska. In the early 1900's, when railroad building ended in the Panhandle Region, many young Japanese laborers settled in the Platte River Valley. Today, names like Sakurada, Hara, Sato, Kuroki are still common in communities throughout our state. We asked Sandra Reddish, who is now the Executive Director of the Legacy of the Plains Museum, to write an essay based on her 10-plus years of research. Chainsaw Carver - When he cut down the old maple tree in his front yard John Schmidt thought he should do something with it. So, he got his chainsaw and carved the large stump into a gigantic mushroom. Meet a guy who turn a tree stump into anything. We follow his latest project. Ultimate Fan - Steve Harley of Winnetoon, Nebraska may be the ultimate Husker fan. Since 1969, he's created a scrapbook for every season of Husker football. That's 700 pounds of memories.

We are profiling the life of Nebraska businessman "Speedy" Bill Smith of Speedway Motors and taking a tour of the museum he founded - The Speedway Motors Museum of American Speed. We'll see some of the fastest cars in the world and feature a selection of the more notable artifacts in the museum's 28,000 piece collection. Highway Paleontology - We follow a team of paleontologists as they dig along Nebraska's highways where they uncover new clues to our state's paleo history.

Gold Star Kids - The Gold Star Kids Honor Flight brought together widows and children of military members from Nebraska killed in the War on Terror since September 11. The flight was modeled after previous honor flights for war veterans. As the families arrived at the Omaha airport, hundreds of people greeted them and hundreds more when the plane landed in Lincoln. And when they were recognized during a Nebraska football game, Memorial Stadium roared with applause. Trail Ride - Ride along with a group of horsewomen who appreciate the recreational trails that allow them to enjoy the beauty of western Nebraska. Agate Fossil Beds - Agate Fossil Beds National Monument may have just celebrated its 50th year as a national park, but its diverse history may make it among the most interesting parks in the nation. Nebraska Stories checks out the Nebraska Baseball Hall of Fame in Beatrice to explore a time when independent baseball leagues played every Sunday in old ball fields across our state.

A Story of Hope - Lincoln resident Abeny Kucha Tiir, a survivor of war-torn Sudan, shares her inspiring story of hope amidst challenges and tragedies. She has written a book about her experiences and is working on a second publication designed to encourage and empower other Sudanese women who have survived tragedies of their own. The Spirit of Goodwill - Meet Steve Hennessey of Lincoln who, despite a learning disability and some significant challenges in life, has achieved 36 years of dedicated employment through Goodwill Industries and is the Goodwill International Achiever of the Year. Duck Pin Bowling - Located in Cheyenne County, the small village of Potter sits along the I-80. For a town that boasts being the "Home of the Tin Roof Sundae" it is a convenient stop for curious and hungry travelers. It's also where locals can still enjoy a serious game of duck pin bowling.
