In a penal colony belonging to the East India Company, Nemo plans an escape aboard the submarine he helped design together with a French engineer. But when Director Crawley demands that the Nautilus be moved earlier than planned, Nemo must leave immediately, with only a few prisoners on board as a crew. On their way, they collide with a ship and decide to save women and children, including the bubbly Humility, who has been fascinated by engineering since she was a little girl and has no intention of remaining a prisoner on the ship.
