When it turns out that everyone else, including Bub, have made other plans, Steve is put in the rather awkward position of having to amuse an eight-year-old girl, himself. In the end, young Jeannie is able to warmly bond with the entire Douglas male household. This is a new and rewarding experience for her as her parents are divorced and she has been used to living with just one parent at a time.
